That's a nice deal. Last time I checked just PSO I&II already went for about $30. Not sure about the amount of people still playing it though.

I find the broadband adaptor to be more expensive personally. PSO I & II are about a tenner in the UK now.

When I look for a copy of PSO I & II here locally I'll have to pay at least 30 euros. But that might be different for the UK and the US.

Wasn't the PSO price-hype all about the glitch that allowed you to play backups from a PC HDD if you connected it with a BBA? That trend survived?

My purchases, August - October. Not THAT much actually as I'm putting most of my money that I earn aside for a new iMac (whenever that fruit company decides to update them -.-), but it's still way too much for me to play. Most of these games really interest me and they were ass-cheap, the worst combination of them all. You can never have enough time to play them that way.

    Some new PS2 JP games:
Sadly I have to admit that Gungrave 2 is utter shite. Couldn't play it past the tutorial, just plain boredom! And I loved the first game so much... well, at least I bought it (& GT3+Guide) from a very fair seller (thx oli_lar :)). Alpine Racer 3, well, for one Euro I can't resist an arcade port of a fast-paced racing game. The Simple Series one is kind of weird, some sort of car-racing but with huge tuned vehicles (like the time-machine DeLorean) and crappy visuals. WTF? 1 Euro, so whatever.

Two Need for Speed games for 1 Euro each. It was actually called Over Drivin' in Japan which I found a bit weird. Replacing an English title with... an English title? Maybe copyright issues. I connect a lot of fond childhoof memories with the PC-version of NfS 2 so I'm quite excited to try it. Magical Hoppers is the wonderful Pandemonium which I just couldn't resist although there is a Saturn version around and Mr Driller... just a classic. I have to get hold of some arcade Driller someday, wanna play this with a stick.

And here's a gem that's unrelated to anything electric. I discovered this when I was cleaning up the old day-care next to the Kindergarten where I am a civil servant. It's an old German songbook, dated in 1911.

While one could use this to criticize the state of our day-cares (lol), I found it very interesting to skim through. Notice the picture above of a song that encouraged children to behave like soldiers. Keep in mind that in 1911 the Germans thought they could win against anyone, it was a very patriotic atmosphere back in the day. The song is accompanied by an instruction for a game: Children shall march like soldiers in a row and make matching movements with their arms during the song. WTF

Instructions for games w/out singing (the usual stuff kids still play up to this day)

    And I borrowed some Raizing-goodness^^

Notice the boss's name: "CONFRICT"

    Latest music purchases:
The one on the left includes clubsound techno remixes on C+D of the original tracks that are on sides A+B. I got it with a voucher, 6 Euros SHIPPED (item was new). :D

    Great purchases ave.

I also have Over Drivin and never got why they changed the title. Don't forget to give GT3 some time. After the licenses and first championships, the games really becomes mega-addictive!

Yeah, it's indeed pretty unusual to find such a lovely book nowadays. It must have been expensive back in 1911, with all the coloured images in it and the quality cloth binding. On the last pages some other books of the company are listed w/prices, some cost up to 10 Reichsmark. Whoever could afford that must have been very wealthy. My grand aunt's parents earned only up to 20 RM a month for their whole family, including 8 children! That was in the late 1920's though and they were just simple farmers.

I'd so love to know the history of that book, fighting it's way through the 1st World War, the Weimar Republic, the Nazi era with all its bombardements and another 60years post-war. It must have sit safely on a shelf for a veery long time! There are no tears at all, no loose pages and only 6 pages are lost (from the introduction).

    Now if books could talk...

Now that you mentioned is that i really understood what a find it was. Just imagine what this book had to survived in almost 100 years! (That would make a great story). I would even say it's a type of national treasure.

Congrats on the find and keep it safe

I don't know how rare it really is, found some prices on the net but I'm not sure if those sellers would ever get what they demand. I'll just keep it for colletor's and for history's sake. I wonder if I'll ever get the chance to hand this to my grand-children in about 60 years when I'm 80.

"So, boys and/or girls, I know you were keen on my antique electro gaming collection, but instead you will get this 160yr old German songbook you can't even read! Have FUN, kids. My games I will take them to the grave!! mahahahawar, COUGH COUGH COOOOOOUGH krrg"

Got a good price on that Grauen no Torimago Kapitel 1, no I couldn't resist. Puchi Carat will make a good adition to my PS1- and Puzzler-collection and incidentially the DC Action Replay thing is called Karat as well.
I hope this works as a backup/import disc as well.

In a foolhardy quest to ascertain whether the later versions of SMRPG can be operated on an unmodified PAL SNES, I've begun crafting an army of converters:

    [IMG][IMG]

    Datel Programmable Universal Adapter
    Fire FX Converter
    Datel Universal Adapter: Expert Version
Datel Pro Action Replay 2 (BIOS v.1.0)

At the very least, it's interesting to note which one works with what, for example:

    [IMG][IMG]

    [IMG][IMG]

as information on the Internets appears to be rather unreliable & scattered.

I have the 'Expert Version' which works fine on the earlier SMRPG carts (it's a bugger to eject from the console though).
I don't think there is any converter that will (reliably) operate the later version carts. Some will operate randomly, so when you power off/on you'll often be greeted with a blank screen.

Yeah that seems to be the case, I've had my version work once with the Fire FX one during a rapid switch on/off session and that's about all the success I've had. The only thing I can think of that I'd like to try is the Pro Action Replay 3, and they don't come cheap :eek:h:.
