The d-pad works nicely and feels great, after you get used to the angled layout. The controller's drawback is the quality of the buttons. They sort of wear out and become difficult to press over time, I'm guessing because of the teardrop shape. It may be repairable by cleaning out the plastic "dust", though.

Xbox 360 Elite with 2 free games. Cost 28000 yen. Not sure how that compares to prices in Europe or the US but seemed decent to me.



Before paying for it I got the staff to open the box so I could check the power and manufacturing date. They couldn't understand why but they did it anyway. Only 2 month old!


And a low power consumption. So this (fingers crossed) should not clap out in a few months.

Since it is the holidays, most territories should have a "2 free game" bundle in the box with the hardware, though the games will differ by region.

Ah, so Japan is more than the US but Cheaper than Europe. nothing new there then.

I've just set my account up and now looking through the free downloads. I was very surprised to see it came with a load of stuff pre-installed suct as Hexen HD and even Sonic 2:clap: I'm a bit dissapointed that it comes with a shitty composite cable though. I mean, you buy the best version of the 360 and they still give you the lowest quality video cable :banghead:

Yeah, the new Elite only comes with a composite cable.

Bit rubbish. Got my Falcon hooked up with the component cable it came with.

 

I'm going to have to buy a D4 Terminal cable tomorrow now which is going to set me back quite a bit I would get HDMI but my TV doesn't have HDMI, only Component (D Terminal)

That sucks. They used to come with composite, component, and HDMI. But they wanted to make it cheaper so...

Too bad you can't get HDMI. You can get a cable for like $5 on eBay.

 

If u get HDMI......make sure it is the right one as I got a new TV recently and it only recognises version 1.3

Cost with 2 games is the virtually the same as some offers here at the moment

Yeah, I'm on live with a 1month Gold trial pass (I'll buy a year pass once this runs out). My name is Yakumo1975 I'm just playing a load of free download sample games at the moment such as Dirt 2, Forza 3, Bio Hazard 5, Left 4 Dead 2 and so on. I've got to say that the free download demos are fantastic. Just trying to work out how the hell to get my tunes from the PC over to the 360. I'm using the library option on media player to get them across to the 360 but that's just bloody awful. Hate all that library crap. Just pick a folder and play is what I want. The videos work fine in just that way as do photos but not the music.

For your streaming needs such as video and music from your pc, use tversity. Works excellent and is what I use to watch top gear on the tv. Also can use an mp3 player plugged in from mp3 tv to play music. Love using it when playing sf4 or vf5. Btw gamer tag is insomniac 619

 

Saturday was Nintendo day.
Just a shame that my GC is safely stored away in a shelf for the sake of looking good (it's the spicy orange one).


Considering GC games aren't that cheap in Japan and these were only 6 Euros / piece, I had to have them. I love Mario Golf, the GC version is how a Golf game ought to be. Been playing it in the multiplayer years ago... good stuff. I wonder why they changed the name to "Toadstool Tour" in the West, maybe "Family Tour" wasn't cool enough for the otherwise supercool Gamecube owner :lol:;-)
Viewtiful Joe 2's cover is surrounded by sparkling magenta, hard to catch with the camera, but it looks awesome - just like the whole game.

PS: Obviously I found a way of including my new iMac in the picture


I love how Capcom creates a new genre for each game they publish. Viewtiful Joe = VFX action, Chaos Legion = Emotional Action and I even remember some DC game called "Dramatic Novel

Some good GC game choices there, have you got some bongos for donkey kong? as it's best controlled using those as the joypad is nowhere near as much fun.

 

Yeah, I've got the Japanese Donkey Konga bundle and plan to buy the two sequels as well. The original DKa is way too easy, like a Bemani game that was forced into "kids mode". And if you switch on hard mode it becomes impossible as you have to memorize EVERYTHING. What about the music / difficulty in 2 and 3? Did they improve the balance between normal and hard mode?

 

Finally managed to get around to getting a copy.

Bought Darius Gaiden mint with spine card for a tenner for Saturn.
