Just got Shogo: Mobile Armor Division from gog.com and its a pretty decent game. not perfect but fun, made by monolith (AVP, AVP2) using the Lithtech engine,

have other games from gog.com, syndicate, Blood, Duke Nukem 3D Atomic edition, Ground Control, Earth 2160, Freespace 1 + 2, Wing Commander 1 +2 + Privateer, Raptor (shump) and tyrian 2000(free shump), and Fallout.

not advertising but i'd recommend anyone into pc games to check them out if you havn't already :)

other then this, my G-Con 2 and Time Crisis 2 arrived, the Time Crisis 2 was new and sealed but when it arrived it was an Italian version. although the game itself is all in english.
also arrived was a cheap "Sabre" (Madcatz) G-Con 1/2 compatable Gun used but boxed, which only cost £4 and works nicely(impulse buy).

HDR-0040 Cyber Troopers Virtual-On Oratario Tangram by Sega AM3 for Sega Dreamcast

After a few days of disappointment due to several packages not surfacing, one finally did - yay!

What arrived, I hear you ask?

HDR-0040 Cyber Troopers Virtual-On Oratario Tangram by AM3 for Sega Dreamcast (factory sealed!)

    Why this particular item?

If you noticed a couple of blog posts back I picked up a HKT-7500 Twin Stick by Sega for the Sega Dreamcast which is compatible with this game. Eagle eyed readers may have noticed the Virtual-On logo was present on my VMU/VMS but what you didn't know was that I had no original copy of the game. Yup, that's right - I was using Echelon's selfboot to get me started. It turned out the selfboot had issues in that it would crash when loading a certain enemy combatant two or three fights in. I could have made my own selfboot, but the multiple track layout due to CDDA leads to extra effort to make it work right, plus the game is too big to fit onto a CD-R without some form of downsampling anyway. Would I have bought the game if the selfboot worked without issues? I honestly don't know, but in the end the best way to experience the game was to buy and own an original copy and in a way I am glad I did. The cover art for this thing is really quite special. It doesn't look like much when it is inside the case, but once you slide the manual out into the open it is a real piece of art for sure! It has a weird metallic kind of colouring effect to it and some raised elements around the features.

    Issues

The first thing any sealed colelctor will notice is a tear or scuff in the seal in the middle of the packaging. That was not there when I received the game. I opened the package, removed the bubble wrap and all was well. Then I dropped the game down the stairs and it picked up the damage as it bounced off a couple of steps on the way down, doh! I was lucky to get away with just that small amount of damage, but it didn't matter anyway: I've unsealed the game as I bought it to play, use and abuse - not to stick on a shelf and look at.

Hopefully the postman will have more goodies for me tomorrow or Saturday, but in the meantime I guess I had better get some practice in on this game if I am ever to master the HKT-7500 Twin Stick by Sega for the Sega Dreamcast!

T-1202M Marvel vs Capcom & T-1215M Marvel vs Capcom 2 by Capcom for Sega Dreamcast

Not one, but two more packages arrived today yay. Sadly I'm still waiting on some others, but for now I have more goodies enjoy. Yay!

What arrived, I hear you ask?

T-1202M Marvel vs Capcom Clash of Super Heroes by Capcom for Sega Dreamcast

T-1215M Marvel vs Capcom 2 New Age of Heroes by Capcom for Sega Dreamcast

    Why these particular items?

Well I am still looking to put my HKT-7300 Arcade Stick by Sega for Sega Dreamcast through its paces. Plus when I finally do get around to reviewing some other games, I'd have more variety to compare them to. For example, T-1215M Marvel vs Capcom 2 New Age of Heroes by Capcom for Sega Dreamcast is currently ranked by many sources as the number one fighting game of all time, so really it isn't just here to serve me for my own amusement, but as a yardstick to judge other games by too.

    Issues

Other than the fact I'm a HKT-7300 Arcade Stick by Sega for Sega Dreamcast down due to use and abuse from friends and family and I totally suck and pulling off the fancier moves, I'm actually quite busy working on project which could end up being a nice little hardware hack for the Sega Dreamcast so I reall'y don't have the time or ability to really put theee games to good use at present. I'll update with more details with regards to what I'm doing as and when I have something to report. Watch this space!

    Updated 22nd September 2012

HDR-0008 Geist Force & T-1246M Heavy Metal Geomatrix by Capcom for Sega Dreamcast

Another two packages arrived today. The first of which was somewhat unexpected...

What arrived, I hear you ask?

HDR-0008 Geist Force by Sega for Sega Dreamcast

T-1246M Heavy Metal Geomatrix by Capcom for Sega Dreamcast

    Why these particular items?

Well first off I didn't even expect HDR-0008 Geist Force by Sega for Sega Dreamcast to even land on my doorstep. Well I did at some point, but the original HKT-06 GD-R I purchased many moons ago, not the pressed disc :p I didn't really want any of the pressed copies as I am quite content to play the game on nullDC or any other emulator but at least I can play the game before the freeloaders, on real hardware and without having to burn my last CD-R! As I'm broke, and by broke I mean BROKE. I'm quite tempted to eBay it, but I don't want to be the first to break rank (even if it would sell for a higher amount), especially not before the torrent release. Chances are I'll manage to make ends meet and live with it though hehe

As for T-1246M Heavy Metal Geomatrix by Capcom for Sega Dreamcast, it is yet naother game for me to make use of HKT-7300 Arcade Stick by Sega for Sega Dreamcast hehe. I remember playing it many moons ago and it wasn't that bad, if a little odd. I know it seems that I've bought mostly Capcom games lately, but they supported the Sega Dreamcast platform pretty will and as such furnished it with many arcade games, particularly fighters.

    Issues

Well the original case for HDR-0008 Geist Force by Sega for Sega Dreamcast was kidad crappy and the black CD tray masked the artwork underneath so I changed it for a different case with a clear tray to see this in all it's glory. The artwork has turned out well indeed and it is certainly better than you, I or anyone could do at home, however when it is placed next to a retail copy of basically any other game, it is clear that it is not quite the same as your average retail product - for example the obi has no perforations, the Sega DReamcast orange looks a little off colour and the back cover isn't as jam packed with marketing BS, but for a limited print run fan production it is about as good as you're going to get.

As for T-1246M Heavy Metal Geomatrix by Capcom for Sega Dreamcast, there are two issues which annoy me somewhat. Firstly the obi / spinecard. The middle tile which literally covers the spine is off colour. The orange areas are now pink and the other colours look off or paler too. I am guessing the disc was stored on a shelf and the spine was bleeched by the sun or something, but this isn't what I paid extra for. Also, the manual seems to have marks on the rear cover where something has pressed hard into the paper. It really isn't the end of the world, but enough to knock it down a grade of any sensible scale. I currently debating how best to complain to the seller without being a dick about it. I'm glad I got the game and all but I wanted a near mint product complete with registration card and dream point bank voucher, but I didn't want these problems either - hence I dug deeper into my wallet to avoid it -_-

After inspecting the listing very closely it is possible to make out the bleeched spine, but it is quite difficult due to the low resolution nature of the image and the reflection of soemthing in shot, presumably the camera flash. I guess I'm just going to have to chalk this one up to experience and pay even more attention to the details in future... or buy sealed copies only -_-

HDR-0001 Sonic Adventure by Sonic Team for Sega Dreamcast

It is raining again but the postman came bearing yet another gift. As I only paid for SAL delivery from Japan I wasn't expecting anything just yet, but it was a pleasant surprise to say the least.

What arrived, I hear you ask?

HDR-0001 Sonic Adventure by Sonic Team for Sega Dreamcast

    Why this particular item?

I know I've mostly been buying up titles compatible with various peripherals lately, but believe it or not I've never actually played HDR-0001 Sonic Adventure by Sonic Team for Sega Dreamcast from beginning to end before. I mean, of course I've played it. It is hard to own a Sega Dreamcast and not own, borrow or even try this game. The problem is the really shitty english voice acting in the international version, it sucks so bad it is worse than torture via white noise and sensory deprivation, so much so I'm amazed there has been no ritual suicides over this great shame yet. It really is that bad! I could have muted the sound, sure, but then I'd be muting the informative or entertaining sounds too. It seems if I am forced to play this game with really shitty voice acting, I'd rather do so in a language where I barely understand a single word of it yet everything sounds cool, so why not play it in Japanese? Besides the price was right hehe

    Issues

It came with all of the paperwork advertised which is always a bonus, plus the seller resealed it with a nice little handwritten receipt and included a wipe for some strange reason. I'd guess the wipe is to clean the disc but it looks pretty immaculate anyway. The only issue I've got with it, other than the potential for really shitty voice acting, is that whilst the obi / spinecard was included (yay!) there was a small tear at the top and bottom (boo!) but given how cheap I picked this game up for I'm not going to make a fuss about it.

Sadly I cannot test HDR-0001 Sonic Adventure by Sonic Team for Sega Dreamcast just yet - it arrived literally right after I completely dissassembled my HKT-3010 Sega Dreamcast because I wanted to inspect the VA0 motherboard for my research and experiemnts, but I do look forwards to playing this game in due course!

I had the Japanese version of sonic adventure, the only major differences I saw besides jp only voice acting is different camera angles and there being a neon cow girl in the casino stage. Us version used more static camera angles compared to jumpy Japanese release. Also japanese release did not show how many emblems you've collected.

Not that I can read or speak Japanese, but there are some guides out there. The actual game is a lot less impressive than the sleek box art.

Total War: Shogun 2 - Fall of the Samurai @ £6.24 in the Steam Sale.

I wasn't in a particular rush to buy the expansion given as I'm broke at present and it will be on sale again at Christmas but meh. My co-op partner bought it which meant I had to buy it too. One annoying thing is we bought a DLC @ £3.99 for the original game (which is a cloned part of the expansion for non expansion users) some time ago which meant we'd get that money off the Fall of the Samurai as and when. The discount/rebate didn't stack with the sale price. Oh well.

I remember microsoft really hyped N.U.D.E. in japan, always thought it was odd that they didn't bring it to the U.S. with it's voice interaction and concept. Seems a hard game to come by now.

T-1201M Power Stone by Capcom for Sega Dreamcast

It is raining once again and the postman came bearing yet another gift.

What arrived, I hear you ask?

T-1201M Power Stone by Capcom for Sega Dreamcast

    Why this particular item?

Why not? Power Stone was an awesome game back in the day. More to the point, four player fighters are hard to come by and when they do you can guarantee things are going to get messy! This is one of those fighting games that actually works quite well with the standard control pad as the analog stick works well in the 3D environment and the button layout is relatively simple. It would be nice to make use of the HKT-7300 Arcade Stick by Sega for Sega Dreamcast for it, but I'd be damned if I'm going to buy another two more for players 3 and 4 to use, abuse, break and then give me a huge sanwa mod repair bill... again!

    Issues

Well the first issue was noticed the second after I had clicked buy it now. Yep, I did it again - there is something missing. No obi / spinecard :( I had a bunch of items in my watch list, but there are no filters for complete or just watching in general to guage the price. I had some leftover funds and clicked the last of it away without double checking. Oh well. It isn't the end of the world and if it was, it was my own fault.

My bank balance is running on fumes at the minute so there probably won't be any games arriving for at least a week or two. I do have some cash on me, but I can't PayPal cash and I doubt I'd be making a trip to the bank any time soon, so I'll probably end up blowing my wad on a Chicken Vindaloo or three.

On the plus side I have a pay day next week and I pay off the last half of one my bigger recent purchases, plus I'd also have no direct debits due and a small amount of change so the purchases look likely to resume :D

It seems you are right. Maybe I was thinking of Powerstone 2, but I hadn't played them since 2005 or so (unless you count PlaySstation Portable Powerstone Collection) but I'd have bought it regardless :p

I used to have them both on white label. I certainly can't afford to rebuy Power Stone 2 retail, let alone promo at todays roflcopter prices.

One thing I did notice which was odd whilst checking the back of the covers though is Marvel vs Capcom 1 is 4 player but MvC2 isnt. I'll have to try out cross-fever sometime.

    1x Sanwa JLF-TP-8YT arcade stick
6x Sanwa OBSF-30 Green push buttons
    1x Sanwa JLF-H 5 pin wiring harness
    1x Sanwa GT-Y Octagonal Restrictor
    1x Sanwa JLF-CD-CLEAR
    20x Sanwa 2.8mm crimps
    4x Bolts

Yeah you can guess where this is going...

Damn thy friends and family for abusing my HKT-7300 Arcade Stick by Sega for Sega Dreamcast. At least now it shall be better than new... though it has just cost me a small fortune to put it right =/

The standard shaft is unprotected, I could have gone for a protector in a number of colours, but I opted to rock the stock look, hence the clear shaft cover, green buttons and green ball top. Hopefully no one will know it is my modded cheat mode hacker stick without opening it muahahaha. I'll fob my family and friends off with my spare / standard stick but they will probably break that too :(
