    HDR-0045 Virtua Striker 2 ver.2000.1 & T-1241M Ultimate Fighting Championship

The postman came bearing not one, but two gifts today. It isn't raining for a change, however the ground is wet and the sky is dark and cloudy.

What arrived, I hear you ask?

HDR-0045 Virtua Striker 2 ver.2000.1 by AM2 for Sega Dreamcast (missing the Dream Point Bank voucher stated as included the sale description, which is the main reason I bought from the seller FFS!)

T-1241M Ultimate Fighting Championship by Anchor Inc. for Sega Dreamcast

    Why these particular items?

The answer to them both is actually quite simple. They were cheap, they were listed as complete with spinecard /obi, registration card and Dream Point Bank Voucher and they also help bulk up my arcade / fighting / games collection. An addiitonal mitigating factor was that they were both available for sale by the same seller, which meant I could combine on shipping to make the purchases a little more worthwhile.

I'm really not a big fan of sports games, especially the likes of football or even watching wrestling and who knows, maybve with family or friends around and playing them in short bursts I could actually learn to love them.

My little brother in partiular has been fond of wrestling games despite being a practicing christian. It is really quite a strange turn of events. In real life he is quite the pacifist but in game he often does the most brutal or sickening things! From time to time he has a false moral crusade where he refuses to play certain corrupting influences but it is only a matter of time before he is back begging for more! The next time he makes an appearance I'll be sure to smack him around the face a bit and pin him down. We may also play a little bit of T-1241M Ultimate Fighting Championship by Anchor Inc. for Sega Dreamcast too! haha

    Issues

Nothing too major on the most part. There is the smallest of scuffs on the disc and the light creases on the paperwork and T-1241M Ultimate Fighting Championship by Anchor Inc. for Sega Dreamcast even has some bleeching on the spine. The seller also included a sweet / candy with the invoice which was a nice little touch. There was a big issue for me with HDR-0045 Virtua Striker 2 ver.2000.1 by AM2 for Sega Dreamcast though - the Dream Point Bank voucher was missing.

Nope, it wasn't me being a tard buying an item and not noticing something was missing, the item was actually listed including the Dream Point Bank voucher but I didn't receive it. I checked inside the manual, I checked inside the DreamLineup Vol.6. I even checked inside the back of the case behind the tray. It just wasn't there.

I have contacted the seller and they basically said sorry, explained they have a few in stock and sent the wrong item and they will dispatch the Dream Point Bank voucher for me soon, yay!

So far this is a much better result than what happened with the missing Dream Point Bank voucher on my T-3101M The King of Fighters Dream Match 1999 by SNK for the Sega Dreamcast purchase. That seller still hasn't left feedback for the transaction, even though the item was not as described, we worked out the compensation, I left positive feedback and the issue was ultimately their fault for sending the wrong item.

Hopefully I get my Dream Point Bank voucher soon so I can stick it inside the manual and forget all about it!

Update: I got my replacement / substitute / missing Dream Point Bank voucher in the mail yay! It is defintiely a much better result than the other seller offering some cash back.

HKT-4300 Dreamcast Karaoke & T-3601M Dead or Alive 2 for Sega Dreamcast

For the first time in a long time I received a package from TNT today and I have to say, it arrived quite early in the day considering how far away the depot is and how slack, or busy other couriers seem. I also received another package from the postieman too.

What arrived, I hear you ask?

HKT-4300 Dreamcast Karaoke by Tokyo Electron for Sega Dreamcast

Strictly speaking it is the HKT-4301 Sega Multimedia Karaoke System as it includes the box, power cable, AV loop cable, HKT-4300 Dreamcast Karaoke by Tokyo Electron for Sega Dreamcast, a HKT-4350 microphone and the software disc (which oddly has no HDR-0XXX reference!)

T-3601M Dead or Alive 2 by Team Ninja for Sega Dreamcast

    Why these particular items?

Ever since I heard about the HKT-4300 Dreamcast Karaoke by Tokyo Electron for Sega Dreamcast I have always wanted one. The problem is they are usually quite costly and on top of that they usually need importing, which means extortionate shipping rates and customs fees. Sure a wealthy or desperate man may have imported one long ago, but I have a limited budget and other things to buy. Luckily, I was able to buy this cheaply and within the UK, which meant cheaper shipping and no import duty due so I saved a packet. It also seems the seller was a board member, who recently purchased the unit off another board member and as such they have taken a small hit on the cost of the unit and their import cost. Poor them, but lucky me, yay!

As for T-3601M Dead or Alive 2 by Team Ninja for Sega Dreamcast, it is yet another arcade / fighting game to bulk up my collection. I actually have some fond memories of this game back in the day, but for some reason I always preferred Dead or Alive 3 on the Microsoft Xbox instead... maybe due to Hitomi and Christie... ahem. There are actually two versions of this game released for Sega Dreamcast in Japan and this is the Limited Edition / updated version. It is actually a funny name that as it is more commonly found than the original version... One thing I didn't know about this game is that is supports upto 4 players so I'll have to try that out sometime and see how it works. Also most of the game manuals I've seen are stapled, the pages on this one are glued.

    Issues

The first thing you may notice is I included an attached Sega Dreamcast in the HKT-4300 Dreamcast Karaoke by Tokyo Electron for Sega Dreamcast picture. Normally I wouldn't do this and just show the unit as is, but the unit was listed with having some slight discolouration and I wanted to check for comparison. It seems there is actually quite a lot of discolouration on the fascia in particular but some on the unit as a whole. Ordinarily this would bother me, especially if I had bought it to be a display unit, however I actually had plans to dismantle the unit for a hardware hacking project which may involve replacing the fascia anyway so this is not much of an issue.

The other problem I have is that the unit was boxed and complete. I normally buy unboxed units to save money, however I really don't have the space to store the packaging even if I wanted to so I'm in two minds whether to attempt to store it only for it to receive yet more damage over time, or sell it to someone looking to restore a set who will take better care of it. To be frank, I could also do with the money too so I probably will list the box only for sale at some point.

I'm not sure what to do with the HKT-4350 microphone either. You only ever get one with a HKT-4301 Sega Multimedia Karaoke System and it has Sega Dreamcast branding on it too, but as it uses a standard jack and we have professional microphones for a PA system anyway, I'm tempted to sell it too. Chances are I'll probably hang onto the HKT-4350 microphone and sticker sheet, so that when I eventually purchase another HKT-4300 Dreamcast Karaoke by Tokyo Electron for Sega Dreamcast for display purposes, I'll have two officially branded HKT-4350 microphones to use on it.

Lastly, the power has to go through the HKT-4300 Dreamcast Karaoke by Tokyo Electron for Sega Dreamcast first and it needs 100v and I live in a 240v country so some voodoo magic is required to test it. I can't do the usual PSU swop trick to make it run at 240v as the shape and sizing is different to the usual Sega Dreamcast model so I have nothing which will replace it, which means I'll need to pick up another step down transformer doh!

Stuff that Arrived this morning and also a few things i picked up today,

House Of The Dead 2+3 Return for Wii,
Time Crisis: Project Titan for PSX, Again
Time Splitters: Future Perfect on PS2
PS2 Silver Dual Shock 2 control pad

    Taito Tiger Heli for NES

and a Retro Duo 3.0 Mascot Edition

Why? -Retro Duo: Got the Retro Duo to play NES and SNES and SuperFamicom Games as i no longer have a NES or SNES and if i were to buy both separately in decent working order i'd be looking at silly prices + having to modify them. will be doing a review on the Retro Duo, this is the version 3.0 mascot edition which has addressed issues that the original and the 2.0 had. i wasn't sure on the colour scheme but its growing on me.

PS2 Controller: This isn't pictured, I got this because i needed one as i've been using a PSX dual shock Analogue controller for my PS2 which i recently fixed, i like the PSX controller due to its size and weight it feels nice, but is not compatible with all games like RE: Code Veronica X, Its Silver and matches my PS2 and is actually in great condition cliche "like New" cost me £6 in cash converters which is better then ebay prices.

House Of The Dead 2 + 3 Return Wii: Got this as i've been wanting it for ages, finally picked it up to add to my "lightgun" shooters collection, and its House Of The Dead.. from Sega... do i need any more reason?? Its in top condition aswell, got it preowned, but its again "like new".

Time Crisis: Project Titan: Again got this to add to my lightgun shooters collection, and again its in almost perfect like new condition even the case and manual, disc doesnt have a mark on it, this was also £6 in cash converters

Time Splitters: Future Perfect: Got this to add to my PS2 games, which i dont have many, i seen a review of this on youtube and looked good, the case isnt in great condition but hey it was £3 and i've never played it before.

Tiger Heli - NES - Got this as i love shmups and this one is from Taito so can't be bad shooting stuff with a heli? oh yes! Cartridge is in great condition as are the contacts.

    Stuff yet to arrive:

    Super R-Type - SNES
    Super Strike Gunner - SNES
    Crypt Killer - Sega Saturn
    PSX memory Card

So yeah i been busy and my wallets taking a bit of a hammering, but after horrible 2 weeks i needed some cheering up. and it worked im Really Happy so far with everything

T-1101M Psychic Force 2012 & T-45101M WWF Royal Rumble for Sega Dreamcast

Yes :p The game was minty fresh. It looked like it had just been unsealed with no stains or bleeching whatsoever!

The postman arrived bearing more gifts again. I wasn't actually expecting this package until Wednesday or Thursday as most internaitonal mail takes around a week or so to arrive, but I'm glad it managed to cross the English Channel so quickly!

What arrived, I hear you ask?

T-1101M Psychic Force 2012 by Taito Corp. for Sega Dreamcast

T-45101M WWF Royal Rumble by Yuke's Future Media Creators for Sega Dreamcast

    Why these particular items?

I know they are not the most desireable of games, but I am glad I got them regardless. I am happier I was able to get both games complete with obi / spinecard, registration card and Dream Point Bank voucher in as new condition from the same seller, which helped save money due to combined shipping. It took a little bit of toing and froing, but I am even happier I managed to haggle the seller down from their listing price to get them at an even more attractive rate!

T-1101M Psychic Force 2012 by Taito Corp. for Sega Dreamcast may be a little weird for most peoples tastes and T-45101M WWF Royal Rumble by Yuke's Future Media Creators for Sega Dreamcast may not be the best game in the world but I know my brother will love it. Mainly it is because they are a few more arcade games that make use of my HKT-7300 Arcade Stick by Sega for Sega Dreamcast. Besides, a little variety helps to broaden my horizons and pad out my collection, so why not?

    Issues

Absolutely none whatsoever. Well... other the fact I'm skint now haha!

I do have a couple more items due in the mail this week but in order to fund my other purchases they will be the last few games for a good while... that is unless I impulse buy something else -_-

Arrived for me today, the 2 SNES games i was waiting on:

    Super Strike Gunner

    Super R-Type

both PAL and run great on the retro duo.

only issue i have is for some reason the snes video as a blue tint to it in both composite and S-Video however all the other colours are there. Weird maybe its my TV/Monitor i'll try it later on the CRT, the NES side of things is perfect.

Now Just Waiting on the PS1 Memory Card and Crypt Killer for the Sega Saturn

HDR-0081 Virtua Athlete 2K & T-18804M Fire Pro Wrestling D for Sega Dreamcast

The postman arrived bearing more gifts again. Surprisingly there were a couple of Christmas cards from a relative too. It is only October... Christmas is what, 9 weeks away? Anyhow..

What arrived, I hear you ask?

HDR-0081 Virtua Athlete 2K by Hitmaker for Sega Dreamcast

T-18804M Fire Pro Wrestling D by Spike for Sega Dreamcast

    Why these particular items?

Well there are some common factors with my last few purchases. Mainly it is because they are a few more arcade games that make use of my HKT-7300 Arcade Stick by Sega for Sega Dreamcast, however my brother will appreciate having a crack at T-18804M Fire Pro Wrestling D by Spike for Sega Dreamcast too. I didn't manage to haggle any discount on these items, but I did purchase both from the same seller which allowed me to combine shipping and save on some money in the long run. They were pretty cheap as is anyway though as it actually turned out cheaper to buy them sealed and complete than unsealed. On the plus side they are minty fresh and come complete with obi / spinecard, registration card and Dream Point Bank voucher for sure, so there are no mistakes by either myself or the seller which can be made this time around.

With regards to HDR-0081 Virtua Athlete 2K by Hitmaker for Sega Dreamcast in particular, there is something which needs saying. I really cannot explain how much I detest sports games in general, but one of the big things that bothered me about Sega Saturn fans is they have their heads in the clouds or up their own arse and go and and on about a handful of games only and ignore the gems at their feet. Athlete Kings (DecAthlete) was a bloody awesome game when played with family or friends and on this, it is much the same but I'll get to play it with up to three others. If you knock something before you even try it, it is ultimately you and the other people you put off which miss out. I really cannot reccomend this game for single player, but for a quick burst of fun with family or friends, it is something which really does get the adrenaline pumping! Look at it this way. It could be worse... you could be playing Sonic Shuffle!

    Issues

A game is meant to be played. A sealed collection is a pointless collection. Luckily this is a problem I can easily overcome by opening the seal muahahahaha though upon doing so, I noticed the T-18804M Fire Pro Wrestling D by Spike for Sega Dreamcast front cover has got some damage where the manual has slid into the case doh. Also the game is thick with Japanese text, even with the system language set to English so it has been difficult to find a way to play the game on VS mode. I'd welcome a menu translation <3

Sadly this arrival marks the beginning of the end for some time. I have one more game due to arrive and when it does every penny I can get my hands on is going back into funding my larger purchases and settling debts, that is unless I impulse buy something else. I have 4 games on my watch list which I'd really like to pick up and a high bid on another, when right now I know I really shouldn't!

Had fire pro d for dc with a cracked case. Good game I used a FAQ from gamefaqs that translated the menus and how to get around and worked for me. Loved fire and bob wire matched.

Got a nice wee box from Japan the other day, that's always an exotic treat:

    IMG_20121016_185804 (1).jpg

I just bought an SFC a couple of weeks ago as I adored the SNES growing up and thought it would be nice to put together a wee collection of the titles that really changed the way I thought about games (Flashback, Street Fighter II, Super Mario World) and some highly-regarded titles I never played at the time (Super Metroid, Parodius, Castlevania IV) and now I can afford to buy the Japanese versions of things and not the nasty PAL coversions. Only buying boxed stuff too which is a bit trickier but they look so pretty. The Mickey Mouse game is weird as it has Japanese box, manual, cards and cart stickers but is in full English, so someone seems to have swapped a US PCB in there at some point. Only £8 regardless.

Anyway that box made me absurdly happy even though I am 31 years old.

T-2401M Guilty Gear X By Your Side by Arc System Works for Sega Dreamcast

The postman arrived earlier today with my last game purchase for some time doh :(

What arrived I hear you ask?

T-2401M Guilty Gear X By Your Side by Arc System Works for Sega Dreamcast

    Why this particular item?

If you have been following my blog, again, mainly it is because it is another arcade game that makes use of my HKT-7300 Arcade Stick by Sega for Sega Dreamcast, however that is not the only reason. I've never really played or even heard of the Guilty Gear series before. Streetfighter, Tekken , Soul Calibur, Dead or Alive, sure, but this? Nada. I know next to nothing about it. Normally when I buy a system I usually buy only one or two arcade based fighters from the major franchises and that is all I need to tide me over. I treaded into new waters with this purchase and you'll be glad to know I am not disappointed. It is a little weird, sure. I mean there is one man who turns into a bat, a woman who attacks you with her hair and a giant guy with a paper bag over his face. What is not to like about that? It plays a little slow at first and I really don't know how to do any fancy moves, but there seems to be room for a lot of aerial combat too as basically any character can either jump then dash in mid air, or double jump. It helped make fights interesting to say the least.

    Issues

It seems I have the limited edition of the game and each version came with a mini CD of sorts. Mine of the Type D where the art matches the disc art. I saw other versions for sale so presumably there are type A, B and C mini CD's too. I tried to use the mini CD in my PC's BluRay BD-ROM drive but I couldn't plant the disc dead centre on the tray for it to get picked up and read because of its non standard shape.

Oh and I misplaced my HKT-06 Katana GD-R too. I was looking around the house for hours for it and crossed swords with a rather large spider too! In the end it was inside one of my PAL Dreamcasts which had been packed away doh!

Sadly my next few blog posts are rather nice but spendy items. I could continue to buy games, but really I need to get my house in order and pay off my debts so hopefully I won't need to sell my collection... again!

Not a zip drive hack :p But I may have to kick it into the long grass for now anyway due to £££ plus I wanted to try sing along to it first. I probably won't chop it up until I get another unit, which wont be until next year now.

Sega Exclusive Bundle 92% off @ DotEmu - USD 9.98

For those not aware of it, DotEmu is similar to GOG.com, though smaller. The downside is they have a smaller library and most games come with no bonuses; however they have some games that are not available on GOG.com and in many cases the games are multilanguage (which doesn't happen very often with GOG).
So, basically this is a pack of over 40 Sega games, "adapted" (most likely emulated) to PC... but officially licensed.

I haven't had time to try it yet, but I hope they work fine, especially with my X360 controller.
One thing to note though, they add each game separately to your account, so you have to download 1 by 1 instead of downloading the entire bundle at once... no big deal though.

PS: I have no affiliation with either DotEmu or GOG, but I love both :)

Viper Crystal Black, Clear, & Purple replacement cases by XCM for Nintendo Gamecube

Even though I am in money saving mode at the minute, I had previously made a commitment to buy these items from a fellow board member.

What arrived I hear you ask?

Viper Crystal Black, Clear, & Purple replacement cases by XCM for Nintendo Gamecube

    Why these particular items?

Whilst I may be a Sega Dreamcast fan, I am not a Sega fanboy in any shape or form whatsoever. I have no particular brand loyalty and I am more than capable of playing and enjoying games on other platforms by other developers, it is just that the Sega Dreamcast has a special place for me.

One noteworthy game I feel I should mention is Super Monkey Ball, formerly of the Sega Naomi platform and ported to the Nintendo Gamecube upon the Sega Dreamcasts' demise. The Nintendo Gamecube didn't receive much of Sega's magic, in fact Sega seemed to have lost their way by 2004, but despite this Super Monkey Ball is AWESOME with friends and family on multiplayer and the Nintendo Gamecube is a solid little platform, but I digress!

The problems people encounter with running backups on the Nintendo Gamecube are mainly due to the mini DVD size discs. They can be difficult or expensive to acquire at the best of times and a full sized DVD just won't fit inside the case. Wouldn't it be great if there was a case which could accomodate the larger, but cheaper and more common DVD-R? Well, the Viper replacement case by XCM does just that! In the age of the wiikey fusion it isn't as necessary, but some of us like to still use our optical media.

That answers that problem, but why do I need three Viper replacement cases by XCM, when I only have one Nintendo Gamcube? Well I actually wanted a solid purple / indigo case so I could rock the stock look, but they are hard to come by these days and when I noticed the sales thread they were out of stock, doh! So I decided to do the next best thing and go for the crystal version instead... but as I wanted to rock the stock look and I was now stuck with a crystal case, it meant I needed to crystal colour coordinate the other stuff too!

The reset button on a standard retail Nintendo Gamecube is a greyish colour, so I bought the Viper crystal clear replacement case by XCM just to use one button from it.

The carry handle, lid jewel and lid brackets on a stock Nintendo Gamecube are black, so I bought the Viper crystal black replacement case by XCM to borrow the aforementioned parts

The shell on a standard Nintendo Gamecube is indigo / purple, so I bought the Viper crystal indigo / purple replacement case by XCM to use as my chassis.

Put that all together and what do you get?

A crystalised colour matched Viper replacement case by LeGIt! Not too shabby eh?

Oh and I have decided to include a rejects picture for lols.

At least I'll have spares I guess, plus they give you a better indication as to which parts where exchanged to make the final product.

    Issues

As I do not have a gamebit to remove the stock Nintendo Gamecube case I used the melting pen trick. Unfortunately when doing so the pen snapped in half and fused into the case so I had to shash the remaining pen as much as possible to clear the screw hole, melt yet another pen and ram it in hoping it would fuse to the first pen to get it out. Luckily it did haha!

The cases themselves are fine, but swopping out the lid brackets can be a little fiddly as they are spring loaded, but given as I am incredibly clumsy and even I managed to do it, should you need to, you can bet you can do it too.

If you intend to use the dust filter off your original Nintendo Gamcebube case, it doesn't quite fit into the Viper XCM replacement case properly but a small dab of glue soon solves that problem!

Lastly, the case only allows the use of larger, cheaper and more commonly available DVD-R media. You will still need to modchip or otherwise modify your Nintendo Gamecube to play backups.

I finally received The Journey Collector's Edition for PS3... and already beat the main game (The Journey). We'll see if the other games included are as time-consuming :p
I also received the Net Yaroze Serial Cable from DefectX11.
