It was NTSC exclusive, as usual for N64 sadly (heck even Spider-Man popular as the series is). I've heard Hey You Pikachu and Densha de Go.

    It is pretty crazy-lookin' :D

The console was also in amazing condition, I suspect it must have been one of the last Super Famicom ever made, and hardly used. I say that because not only does it have the small version motherboard, it didn't have any dust inside, the connector was still shiny and clean, and there were none of those scratches that you normally see on the power switch. I've never seen a SNES in this condition! But holy crap, the controller cord! It's even shorter than the one on my Japanese Mega Drive! I think I'll buy an extension cable and use that to replace the cord.

oh yes, the SFC controller cord is a joke. Way too short even for use in Japan.

I'd get a PAL controller instead. Unless the front logo is important to you.

The US got SNES controllers with the colored buttons later in life. Even still, you can always just swap shells with a controller with a longer wire!

It is. That's why I now have 3 versions of the SNES :\

I was thinking what I'd do was buy a controller extension cable, chop the plugs off each end and swap out the original cord for this new, longer cord, that should work shouldn't it?

But seriously Japan, why such a short cable? I can understand for the Famicom, since putting the controllers back in their cradles might be frustrating if there's miles of cables getting in the way and just generally looking messy.

I'd have to sacrifice a PAL/American controller for that, and official controllers are damned expensive :\

In Japan, people used to sit on the floor right in front of the TV; the console was pretty much on their lap. The PC-Engine cable is only 1.2 meter too...

That's not true to be honest. It's the sort of thing they wrote in gaming mags in the early 90's. I've lived in 3 places in Japan and even the smallest place (a 1 room flat) had enough space to render the SFC pads too short. I don't know anyone who sits on top of their console while playing games. Shit, even my tinny bedroom in the UK caused issues with the SFC cables being too short. I'm sure GaijinPunch and other members who live in Japan would also agree that the SFC pad cables are way too short.

My Xbox sits right next to me on the couch with extended component and power cables...
Mostly because of how often I swap disks out.
I'd love to get a hold of Ben Heck's 360 disk changer and put my 'box DVD drive in...
    50 disk capacity? F%$K YEAH!!

My plans eventually. I have a 320 GB IDE HDD I plan to stick in it along with a Samsung SD-616T. May go SATA with adapter and 4 TB drive to hold a shitload of movies and Xbox games if it'll work. Otherwise I'm stuck with possibly a 2 TB drive. It has already been softmodded with EvoX dash. Next step is XBMC.

This Xbox has the shitty Phillips drive that I'll be happy to ditch before it dies...

First Xbox has a problem I hope to sort out eventually then shove into my Toshiba Win 95 laptop frame. I think it'll fit with some work on the heat sinks.
