Post everytime you buy something game related and your unbelievable deals

So do you think you would recommend it more than, say, a modded backlit GameBoy Color? I realised recently that I spend a lot more time playing Tetris than I thought previously (about 20 minutes minimum before bed every night), so I thought it might be nice to invest in a GameBoy Color with a built-in light instead of using the awkward worm light I currently have. I would just buy a GameBoy Light, but I'm afraid the ghosting on the screen will be as bad as the original GameBoy, and the Color seems to have the best screen in my opinion (and is best ergonomically for my hands).

 

Picked up last week. Works great but i'll open it up and go through everything as always pretty soon. Almost had a mountain dew original xbox as well but it slipped away from me at the last moment.

 

Well, for the screen and price I would say yes. The device is pretty well made overall. It also allows you to change the colours of gb games just like the gbc (when the Nintendo logo shows up(gb boy in this case)). I think the timings might be a tiny bit off though. I had the same game playing on this device and a real GameBoy. The games eventually stopped being in sync.

 

Does it look like you could take the buttons from a real GBC and put them in the GB Boy?
I've been thinking about one, but the d-pad looks all weird, plus I have a GBA SP, so not a massive priority.

 

I'm not sure. I need to find my Gameboy Color.. as soon as I do, i'll open it up and i'll let you know!

The Buttons and D-pad are pretty decent though to be honest. And the screen on the GB Boy is clearer and brighter than the GBA SP. I prefer the GB Boy's screen believe it or not.


EDIT: Above, is official GameBoy Color. Judging by the pegs on the buttons in this image, they wont fit in the gb boy without cutting the odd pegs off. The B button (on the right) might need 2 pegs cut off. It might not even be worth it in the end though to be honest.

While not directly related to gaming, I am very proud to say that I closed on my first house today. I plan on turning the part of the basement into a game room.

 

I just got some more stuff in the mail.

reproductions of Beyond Shadowgate, Might and Magic III, and Dracula X Rondo of Blood for PC Engine (Turbografx-16), and 5 new HDMI cables, and a new video capture card to replace the defective HDPVR2 I have had for a year. I got a Blackmagic Designs Intensity Pro 4K! I found it weird the Drivers, Software, and Manuals come on SD Cards

Congrats Docfitz! owning a home allows for way more options on how to build a game room no more dealing with landlords

Needs RGB mod and a recap (although the caps look good!). Waiting on PSU so I can use it.

It runs perfectly. I will eventually recap it, but for right now, I don't think it's needed. I actually feel like this system has barely been used. CD's load up almost instantly.

This is something i've been thinking about. I'm going to give it a try next week. I'll let you know.
