Another reason for SCPH-1002's getting rarer are probably the audiophiles who modify them into CD players, because of the high-quality components used in that model or whatever it was. I'm not that big of a PlayStation fan, but I honestly cringe every time I see photos of someone's "former" 1002 with a bulky power supply, unneeded ports removed, new casing, etc. Get proper CD players guys, and stop IMO "destroying" perfectly fine consoles! <.<

Exactly! To you 1002 owners out there... don't ruin them by turning into CD players.

I honestly plan on buying a 1002 just to save it from ending in the hands of someone who ruins it. >.>

EDIT: Just found out wich 9002 console was my first one and it works wooohoo, although with the same weird sounds as #3. :s

#5 5552 sadl got a modchip, no much diferent between #4 5502 actualy. but not sure if correct board is inside.
bacuse my 5552 has modchip, all light screws (no black ones) and board seems complete identical.
#5 compared to #4. 5552 has no warning.

I've got a couple of 1002 models I think..... They used to chuck them away when I worked for Gamestation so I used to save them from the bin ;)

Great to hear!!! That someone actually decided to SAVE them! Instead of throwing them away... ;) of how many 100x were made.. i really doubt many are left when you hear what people are saying.. overheating.. etc. :D
Keep them, even though they don't work ;) I think after like 5-10 years. 100x will be nearly extinct haha. Sadly.

Here are my 4 PSXs. They're all NTSC-U, except for the 9000 which is NTSC-J, obviously.

    SCPH-9000 A1088002 (Working)
    SCPH-9001 U1403173 (Working)
    SCPH-1001 U9415499 (Working)
SCPH-1001 U5469918 (Dead laser, I think, and it's missing the disc tray, though I think it's lying around here somewhere…)

You ought to edit your original post with a collection of all the serials people have posted thus far.

When I got there I was told they were really unreliable and thus no warranty could be given on them so a spade used to be put through them, I saved many a retro delight from that fate as I never believed in trashing good hardware.

Ah, okay, that would also be nice as I'm trying to get as many serials as I can, the problem is that those ebay serials can be binned while the ones you people have you can update, you never know what happens to those ebay / yahoo ones. :(

I'm also hopefully buying a PS1 tomorrow, my 20th, looking forward to see which it its. :D

Ah I see, Binned is when people are throwing away. I kind am hoping for a list where some wouldn't be thrown away, and yes, that is nice. :) Will check it out. PS1 serial DB is what I'm aiming for.

Like have a list of consoles that people here have and aren't necessarily going to be binned soon.
