Do you mean the E3 2005 demo? http://teamico.wikia.com/wiki/Shadow_of_the_Colossus/_Demo That seems to be a demo produced on May 12th.
No I mean the stand alone demo disc: Pics from http://nomads-sotc-blog.blogspot.fr/2013/09/versions-builds.html
it would not be an alpha build, probably the same one BORMAN owned (i think it was borman) its probably a final japanese build with early english localisation
Oh, I've been watching some of Nomad's videos before. He's seriously dedicated. Respect. If he's correct, and the disc I bought is authentic, it may be an alpha version? I really hope that's the case. But either way, it will most likely be the same version as the released Stand Alone demo?
You can always pass me a PM to look into it, or Nomad since he's much more dedicated and knowledgeable
If it's the same as the demo I wouldn't call it alpha, and if it's not the demo, just call it a preview version from july...as I said earlier, easiest way to judge is with a list of the files on that disc.
But... but PS2 is one of the best consoles..... Anyway, let me see when I get the disc. Yeah, I agree. It's probably not early enough to be alpha. I was just taking the reference from Nomad's list, even though I feel the development stages was kinda bleeding into one another.

Update: I finally got the disc! Sorry, the text is in Norwegian, but it's obviously Name, Date of change, Type, and Size, from left to right. So, here's the content...
I have, and it runs. I haven't had the time to look closely, but it's all in Japanese, has progressive/interlaced scan accessible in options, and I thought I saw some slightly glitchy fog effects when riding around. And some of the file sizes are different I see...
Want me to take a look at it? theres a particular bug in the Preview build that i bet is still in this (and if its not then you probably have more accessible spots)
I'll see if I can make an ISO of it, but I don't know how good a computer I need for that. My laptop is shit. What bug are you talking about? If I get detailed instructions I can check it out. Do you own the other preview disc found, or is it downloadable somewhere? And is it also a Japanese version?
The bug is simple Go to some water, start swimming. Move the camera below the water. If it crashes then i wouldnt be surprised. If it DOESNT crash then we got something to work with. Theres a download of the other one somewhere on here, both with and without the patch to add in the missing dev tools https://assemblergames.com/threads/shadow-of-the-colossus-potential-debug.50436/ As for making an ISO you can use IMGburn or Alcohol 120% or DVDisaster (any of them work honestly).
