Borman Edit: There is a seller with similar disks like these and Oni 2, among others on Ebay. All of those discs are just copies of things that were leaked online by the look of things. Buyer beware Hi. What do you guys think about these discs' authenticity? Which, real/fake, and why? Got a bad feeling on the last one... Thanks.
Yes question, why do you believe so I'm not saying you're wrong, but I am interested in your thoughts Also burn dates are on the disc, so that would also be a strong indicator.
Because they are all the same despite different eras and different publishers. And I've seen some of the original disks that these came from before they all ended up online. Which by the way, they are all online
even if they are fake, their is allways a possibility they could be legitimate builds, burnt onto dvd-r's for backup reasons, id sujest dumping them and testing them in an emulator (if possible), you never know what may be on them
That Ratchet & Clank Up Your Arsenal beta from august 11 needed a dongle to work, here's the release thread from 2011: https://assemblergames.com/threads/ratchet-clank-3-beta1108.34609/ It came on dvd-r and not with a printed label, so that should tell you everything you need to know about the disc you have on your picture!

Alright. As I assumed. I'd say these look very authentic. Both PS2, PS3, 360 etc have this boring style on many beta discs, if revisions meant for internal use, not preview/review copies sent out. But the one that caught my attention was Diablo. I've NEVER*(woops) seen a PS1 beta made with the same style as a PS2 beta, with Playstation at the bottom, and the font is definitely odd... I'm in a bit of a pickle as I was offered, and I bought, the FFX disc a month ago... But Borman. You can with 100% certainty testify that these discs are fake, as you've seen some of the original discs before? Which discs are they, and are there any photos of them?
Trust and believe, bruv. They appeared a bit peculiar to me but I have WAY less experience with this.
Yeah. Atm we see them all together and it looks like something's wrong. I did question the similarity in when I saw more of his discs, but it's hard to know. Some betas even just look like unused discs.
100%. Some discs I dont know if they have pictures online, but I know their owners. Look at Hidden Palace, it's no coincidence that every prototype this person has is available online. And again, knowing the owners for at least some of them, I know this person isn't it. http://hiddenpalace.org/Ratchet_%26_Clank_(August_2,_2002_prototype) http://hiddenpalace.org/Ratchet_%26_Clank:_Up_Your_Arsenal_(Aug_11,_2004_prototype) http://hiddenpalace.org/Ratchet_%26_Clank_(Jun_25,_2002_prototype) http://hiddenpalace.org/Diablo_(Dec_12,_1997_prototype) http://hiddenpalace.org/Final_Fantasy_X_(Sep_28,_2001_prototype) https://www.epforums.org/showthread.php?107807-BETA-Oni-2-Death-and-Taxes-(Prototype)&highlight=oni Hopefully these links work, cant get on myself right now. The dude is even selling bootlegs on Ebay. It's pretty blatant.
Yeah the links work. Thanks, Borman. I wish there were pics of the discs as well. You just never know... Steven's Climax haul was also just put up on Ebay. And some of those betas looked even more rubbish. But alright... Now I "got some dishes to do"......
the worst thing for me is, they clearly tried to bait someone by labling FF10 as an "alpha" yet its a finalised japanese build with WIP english audio.
The guy who originally released it called it an alpha, iirc that's what the disc said. Technically you can consider anything that let's you play through from start to finish an alpha, and I've had other square prototypes where it's labeled as an alpha but I'd just a localization thing. So consider it an alpha localization hah.
To me an alpha is a very early version of a game with lots of missing stuff but is playable story wise from front to back in some way.
