http://blog.us.playstation.com/2011...3-circumvention-devices-and-pirated-software/ Banwave soon? Probably.
Banwave started. Some people are being warned by e-mail, while others receive a ban confirmation (also receive an error when they try to log on PSN) Seems like it's the console that is banned, not the PSN account. Still, the banned console cannot create or add new PSN accounts.
I received this email as well, and that while I only tested geohot & kmeaw and then cleaned everything up again and upgraded to OFW 3.56 when it was released. I have even bought games in the meantime on PSN. Hope I don't get banned. Sounds like I got flagged already before they released 3.56 somehow.
Seems like they have logs for anyone that tried these stuff. Read that even people with 341 received that e-mail.
I got an email. I have been backing up my games but for the access of faster load times and the ability to swap my games at the press of a button. Not to mention the FBANext emulator is a huge win for me.
Given the nature of the jailbreak exploit, are you surprised they're checking what's plugged into your USB ports?
Not at all. Was completely expected that they keep track of all the games we play online or what gets connected to the console itself. Sonys been pushing hard on stopping the hackers and to be honest I have been noticing releases for new software (eg Emulators, media center development etc) slowing down a bit. I'm guessing with all the court cases been thrown in peoples faces its starting to scare some people off from development.
They also check CC info in plaintext! Link Here's a chatlog: http://pastie.org/private/97oth9v5tspkiztwwdmnga
I wonder how long it will take for people to make spoofing software for PS3's to become anonymous, even if previously banned.
If they do that, it would truly show pathetic and ridiculous they are. They wanted to mess with the console, and managed to do that. But now they are going affect people? Why? That's just low.
I'm a legitimate PS3 owner, not having modded mine but still haven't updated to the latest firmware. That said I d love to see if that's possible, it would be quite funny on a worldwide level:lol:
So if I have jailbroken my ps3 via a usb dongle and then i decide to upgrade to an official 3.56 and log online would i be banned again since i sometime in the past used a usb jailbreak device on another firmware? Does the PS3 keep those kind of logs?
If you purge your PS3 HDD of anything & everything related to the jailbreak (including iso & apps). Then you might be in the clear. Hard to fully say.
In theory if you delete all the unauthorized software and update you should be fine but I haven't heard from anyone that has tried this. I wouldn't exactly trust Sony. You'd be better off getting another PS3 in my opinion.
