On these cloned jailbreaks it's basically the exact same software. You're not going to break your PS3 with it. The PSJailbreak people basically even said the clones are the same they want you to buy theirs for the "warranty" and "support" on a little USB stick... Also for anyone who wants to play online apparently Logan5's PS3 proxy tool is working again. That's until the block it gain..
Sounds like they'll make any USB lamp to work as an homebrew enabler on the PS3. xD If you put some truth in recent rumors, there could be a way to exploit 3.42 as well.
built with sdk so no link WARNING: you can write to flash with this app I am getting about 10/mb over the network readme:
so in short the point of that ftp thing is that devvers have something for uploading their work? BTW, there's a ps2emu folder in the ps3 root?
Awesome! Is there any chance to change the vsh system version number in order to downgrade the firmware (regain OtherOS)?
It basically opens more doors to the PS3 and I agree with Karsten the PS2emu folder is very interesting. Just to keep people updated expect lots of apps appearing in the next month or two. People are just waiting for the right tools to be developed so they don't have to use the SDK which is for obvious reasons such as its highly illegal!
Now I'm just waiting on which console I'll get a fully featured media center first, JTAG-360 or Jailbroken-PS3. Still using my old Xbox with XBMC, but the HD TV is the next thing on the to-buy-list, and it just hasn't got enough juice to deal with it. For everyone telling me that they are already capable of displaying hd content: I don't want it to be served via a separate PC, I want one single connected device to play games, show all kinds/formats of video, pictures, and play all kinds of discs without the need for any network connection whatsoever. It would be super-sweet if HD-DVD playback would be added to the PS3 by using the Xbox360 HD-DVD-drive though (yup, still have it and quite a few discs)
Not really. Not all PS3 that can run PS2 games have full hardware. Some have the EE emulated (hence the folder). What is interesting is inside the folder there is a self for GX & Software but there is a good chance they are not very well functional (or possibly aren.t emulation but just middle man libs to talk to the gx). But we won't know till someone devises a way to launch them.
Hey, didn't development on the XBOX 1 stuff use the SDK which was why you had to get all of the apps from FTP sites?
Correct. Most but not all Xbox 1 homebrew software used the official XDK. Because of this, the software itself is illegal and has always been distributed through back channels rather than right on a website. Same thing will happen with PS3.
I guess I don't understand how putting stuff on IRC or ftp server protect them from Microsoft. If MS really cared, couldn't they get a court order to force the host to remove the offending files? Granted, it wouldn't do them much good as the stuff would likely popup somewhere else such as newsgroups or Megaupload/Rapidshare.
