Another interesting thing that the JB'ing allows you to do is copy over save files that are protected from being copied.

The only game that comes to mind where this is useful is Resident Evil 5.

Does anyone know of a site where save data for ps3s can be gotten? I would love to just have every character in Soul Calibur 4 without actually having to invest 50 hours of my time to do so. I'm aware that some savedata is tagged specifically for the system it came from, but thats why god invented hex editors.

I dont know of any places for locked saves. I looked last night for a Dragon Ball save, and no one had it yet. Barely played the game because its just a hassle unlocking everyone in game after game.

I did an experiment with my roommates ps3 and mine in an effort to get a save file to work and bypass that protection.

I backed up my RE5 Gold save. then I did an entire system backup from one machine to another. Then I backed up the exact same save again.

Using a hex editor, I did a resychronous compare on the two. There are literally 3 small lines of hex that are different in one of the files, and these are the locations where it somehow dictates which machine the save came from. You just need to copy your "system key" (for lack of a better phrase) from one save to another to make it work

While that might sound nice and all, there's a few games where it might make screw up online. Though I have to admit that Demon Souls is the only game I can think of where it'd really matter ^^.

And for the controller ban, the article makes it seem like all 3rd party controllers dont work anymore but afaik it's just the crappy bootlegged ones that pretend to be Sony controllers. Correct me if i'm wrong though =P

It starts to get ugly now. A FAKE PSP emulator has been released, and it seems to brick consoles. More information here (or in almost any other scene forum): -RM-
Releaser is known as "TeamICE" on the forums, but he supposedly has no connection to the real Team ICE.
Damn, and I had hoped the kiddies had enough to do bricking 360s. Where's that bomb smiley when it is needed?

Another highly interesting development is reported here: -RM-. It seems someone has ported PSGroove to a standard Sixaxis controller. Neat, huh? If this turns out to be true (and not yet another idiot hoping for his 15 minutes of internet fame), it would be the ultimate slap in Sony's face . I'm waiting for news of customs agencies around the world ripping apart factory-sealed PS3 boxes and confiscating the controllers...:evil::evil:

    -Edit by subbie-
    No Linking to psx.

This looks really interesting if its actually real. Apparently it will play 1080p mkv files which is something I've been longing for so long from Sony to do. Trust hackers to be able to do it in less than a month haha

Ah how nice it would be to have that if it were real. No more spending 3 days to convert a 1080p File to MPG for my PS3

Save the energy and get a cheap sigma designs media player and you can stream (and play from usb/hdd etc) 1080p without any problems. Altough I do think eventually XBMC will see the PS3 light :D

Google exists for a reason. No need for links or anything when you can just find it that easily.

I thought the rule here was two clicks of separation? I.e. it's ok to link to a site that hosts dubious content itself, but not link directly to the content?

It's up to assembler but really after all the **** that's gone down because of the x360 section, is it really too much to ask to keep away from sites hosting stuff built with the official sdk?

Are we all that bad with the internet that we can't simply use google and keep assembler clean?

I like how he goes It's a Linux based OS, but when it comes to executables he says "EXE" and how it has to be PlayOS Encoded. If this were real, he would simply say executables have to be compiled from source for the right processor type or whatever.
