Last night I was looking around the UKR archives from the DC heyday and the PS2 launch. I've to say it: the reesemblance with the PS3 is amazing. they had the same complaints about the graphics (which in fact is kinda true since the DC had more RAM and wasnt pushed to the limit) and the PS2 being pricey at the time, since the DC was already $149, while the other was $299. Funny thing is how everybody thought the PS2 was going down, just like they do right now with the PS3. So, if you think about it, the PS3 is actually in a better position than the PS2, since that last one was more than double the price of its nearest competitor, while the 20GB PS3 is only $100 than the 20GB X360. To make it short, I cant say exactly what going to happen now... Well, thats what made the DC so awesome............more than 7 years ago:lol: I told you guys this was bound to happen, simply cuz you cant put a outdated machine against whats definitely the most advanced hardware lineup ever. I tell you, they didnt had to go directly against the rest of the market, nintendo could've easily swapped the old crippled G4 for a G5, and the GPU too, so it could at least have available 720p (like the Xbox did). But no, they had to go old school, like a nes against a genny... On the other hand nintendo may want to keep it simple, since its a casual console for them. But the sad truth is that today even easy-to-use systems are better than that. The only advantages of the Wii is that nintendo can easily drop the price, ALOT, like from the actual $250 to $150 or less. That would put the Wii in the 1st place of sales charts.
hehe, funny you should say that Alan. I am a big nintendo fanboy at heart, but I try to be objective most of the time Nintendo do make my favourite games after all.
The under powered hardware Nintendo uses doesn't concern me as much as the complete lack of giving a shit about traditional gaming. They seem to want everything to use the Wiimote. That's annoying.
what are you on about Shadowlayer? The online gaming model of nintendo is what I m mostly concerned about, not the tech specs. If the PS2 made good games, the Wii can sure as hell make some good games as well, it's not just about the graphics after all.

That site is a load of crap most of the time. 165k was sold to gamers as 220k units were shipped/sold to retailers. Hence the reason there is so much stock sitting around. By looking at the quality of that image. Thats photoshoped and not from sony. The box is a give away.

They certainly did not have a good launch up here in Dundee. Believe me, I was working the Midnight launch. We still have 60 Units left over.
I ll have to agree with TheDeathCoaster -- here in Germany, and also from what i hear from mates in England, UKR's could of doom is not so far from the truth. The Saturn market here in Munich (very big shop) has sold only 10 units yesterday. The have plenty of stock, but people don't buy it since it so outrageously pricey - thats what the clerk tells me. tubo
