I would prefer something that gives me the full immersive experience and give me the opportunity to do a full 360 like the unit UJ has for PS2. That with accurate 3D goggles would be worth the investment. I watched Aliens V Monsters in 3D with my kids (not seen Avatar yet) and frankly it hurt my eyes and the only bit that truly impressed me was the intro with the spacial fly-through.
Ever been to an Omnimax? Basically it's Imax but domed. Imax Resolution is far higher than HD is I think if we can get that kind of resolution on TV we won't need this 3d Nonsnese, we'd already have it.
TV can barely cope with 480p in most countries, let alone HD or Super Hi-Vision. Super-Hi Vision is scheduled to make a début around 2020
It depends, there are a lot of 3D systems out there Xpand is by far the best and least nausea inducing. However the upgrade for theatres is expensive so most don't have Xpand This is the only way it will work, my girlfriend can only watch 3D movies with glasses that sync the shutter speed, otherwise she gets sick. This will make the entry cost to a new 3D gaming system quite high. If they choose anything else all the old ladies will get sick during focus studies. When I went to see Avatar there was a guy who was wearing an eyepatch. I don't know how many gamers have vision impairment, but a great deal are near sighted and use glasses of some kind (this is based on studies done by the national eye institute). So the designers are going to have to accommodate people who wear eyeglasses and it cannot be an afterthought. Thats what my girlfriend has. We have tried all the 3D systems: Imax, RealD, Dolby 3D, Xpand and the old fashioned Red & Blue. The only ones that does not make her sick is Xpand, which also happend to be the most expensive for theatres to implement. The game designers are going to have to choose thier poison. Cheap non-powered 3D glasses with unhappy gamers who get sick or Expensive battery operated 3D glasses with gamers that don't like the price. Me and my girlfriend play games together, so she would be pretty pissed if the it came with cheap 3D glasses that made her sick. It all depends on the 3D system being used by the theatre, not all of them will make you sick. Here is an article: http://3dvision-blog.com/what-to-choose-imax-3d-versus-reald-versus-dolby-3d-for-3d-movies/ I also forgot that they will have to compensate for light loss, not all TV's are going to do this well, other than just upping the brightness
I'll watch how this will develop, it will be like ps3 all over again. Sony promise the world then when it launches they strip everything out with only a fraction of what they promised. The reality of what you'll get by the time it's released. LOL
latest info about Natal also spell "let down". They removed the co-processor to drop costs from the retail kits, burdening the console with a 10-15% overhead. Not sure how that would translate in real game performance but it certainly won't run Milo the way they showed it.
That's right. They see HDTV adoption will eventually be like SDTVs were where everyone has a TV, they stop buying. So now they need some new way to get the TV sales up again. I'll say that HDTV had a reasonable purpose. But 3D TV? They can stick that back up their ass. Same with all these "3D movies" in theaters.
Source? My point was Omnimax achives 3d without glasses If they could shrink that down to may a 100 inch -50 inch display we'd be talkin
The Natal thing is on just about every gaming site you could ever read. And with the PS3 supporting 3d this year, why wouldnt the PS4? And of course, there wont be any complaints about wires, this stuff is all wireless. And on Headtracking, Gran Turismo 5 is likely to support head-tracking.
Headtracking on GT5 will mostly be used on the in-car camera. It just needs the PSeye. You move your head a little, and it will show the sides, up and down...
I'm legally blind in an eye, so I won't benefit from 3D graphics in games. Here's hoping it stays trendy gimmick rather than becoming a compulsory function. It's my experience that the big issue with 3D graphics of any type is the lack of standardization in people's heads. Eyes are a different distance apart on every face, they're not ever level with each other, and it's actually very rare to have the same strength of vision in each eye. Technically, I could see in 3D if somebody were to slap 20/20000 correction on my right eye. But what theoretical gaming system would accommodate that? The Virtual Boy was doing pretty well to let you adjust the focal depth and the width between the two images.
word, 3D wise zaxxon was just as good as avatar. didnt give me more/less of a headache either.. cant believe peoples minds were "blown" by avatar to be honest, yeah it was kinda cool for 10mins but honestly i didnt find the 3D to be that more spectacular than anything else 3D wise ive seen, theres just more of it in avatar. if they had spent 10 years and x billions to make Jaws 3D back when it came out it would have been just as "impressive", still i doubt 3D would have been the standard today. Its an old fad that died out and now its making a shortlived comeback while the novelty still holds strong.. :rambo:
Well there's a good reason why there's such a huge push for 3D in cinemas. It's a sideways manner of dealing with illegal recordings (They hope) and at the same time an attraction for customers to prefer a film as seen on the big screen. What they forgot to adjust was the price. I paid double (12 euros) for avatar whereas I get off cheap (With a student discount) at 6.50 euros.
Exactly. And is one of those things you check it once and say cool. And then never look back. Why PD is caring about this anyway? Just make GT5 as an updated GT4 with better physics and AI, tyre skidmarks and bring back Race Modification from GT2 and i'm SOLD! On cinemas i think it's ok, specially since it's only costs about 5 bucks more than normal. I don't see it become the standard on TVs though.
Do we really need to be finding new ways to see games rather than new ways to play them? Granted the Wii is gigantic failure in the reguard we'll see what Natal and whatever that pS3 thing does. I got a DS to play games in a new way and outside Ouendan I'm not feeling it.
5 more bucks would buy me the DVD/Bluray when it comes out A 5 dollar increase is substantial in my view. They should stop fucking about with the pricing if they want a steady stream of customers.
I thingk it's safe to say Back to the future II Lied to us. I don't see a shitty 3d shark jumping out and consuming us in 5 years and we still need glasses for 3d. I think it's a good thing we don't Hydrate out pizzas or grow herbs over our kitchen tables though. and the Fashion.....DEAR GOD....Double Ties...
