I offered to settle the matter of the device being legit, using my own rep. I think thats pretty good support, but I am not paying nearly $xxx to do it for you. Dont try to make it sound like it was me who was screwing you over or my "lack of support". Thanks,

it's only $xx - and all for price of parts. for free i can only send couple guys from here (who gave "good" support). if they wish.

why PSIO is not legit - we cant steal something cause nobody never did such things.
also i see many topics about mod chips and hacking of consoles and code for them here - is it legit?))))

I'd be more than happy to put down some cash to test anything out to dispel the doubt.
Bonus points if I get to solder bits and pieces together myself.
I've picked up around 7 various models of PlayStation 1s and would be more than happy to try something out!
Just send me a dollar value and we can put all this childish bickering behind us! :encouragement:

Just let me know the details and I'll help anyway I can.
Freeing all the disc based consoles of their weakest point, mechanical failure (or is that laser failure?) - it's the best idea ever!

I'll chime in and test one provided it's not very expensive. I'll write a full review as well

I can confirm this is real, I know cybdyn from another forum. And he already sent few boards for free, too bad you don't know that.
The thing here is board components, to send somebody free board he need to buy them, and it isn't that cheap. It's hobby project, so be polite and calm, time will show whether this is real or fake.

Do you really know amounts of money, can you define "shitload of money"? You probably don't know what you're talking about here.

The one who should get a ride is you.
Why if anybody spend his own time developing unique device, there will always be bunch of trolls, who will try to ruin everything?
Here's link for you, check pages count, check photos with oscilloscope, check schematics, check community feedback.

The issue this place has with the PSIO is with Haunted, not Cybdyn. Haunted has has some history here.

If you were to read the history that has surrounded this device on these boards you'd see I have every right to remain on high alert with regards to this.

Even if I am proven wrong and it's real, I still don't like the attitude of cybdyn and his attitude towards GPL's etc. It still very much feels like underneath all of this there is a ploy to make money.

I was given the same message, yet Haunted said "You can test PSIO but you have to pay $80" I told him that I'm unemployed (which he knows) but I won't be getting paid to do the testing, I'm basically working for him as him and team will be getting the profits. People who pay the $80 to test it should get one for free or some form of a discount.

we can test it ourself. basic idea of send to someone who really want get it and enjoy of playing/loading games from sd card.
it's hard to compare how it is much for such device - cant find similar device for ps1.
my opinion - prototype should always costs much then release version. but we ask only for price of parts.

the nearest class of devices w/ same idea are ED's - cant say it's too cheap, especially for unemployed.

i found this: "Hobby programmer using CommsLink+ActionReplay/Gameshark GNU gcc for MIPS, compiled for DOS, Win32 and Linux is available on the Net, as well some assemblers (for e.g. SPASM by Silpheed/Hitmen). As long as you don't use either PSYQ or YAROZE libs it'll be legal to program and spread your work. I am not sure if SONY likes you burning 'un-officially' licensed cd's though."

so, if i use GNU gcc for MIPS or spasm for menu it will be legit for psio (and i hope Twimfy will calm down) ??? i wanna remake example from demo to a little menu, i have no much time to create compillers and libs, so using examples save time.

This setup should be fine. Tools from Hitman are quite old, but assembly will do the job.

Just an update, I've sent my cash over to Shadow of PSIO. 80 large ones transferred.
Cost included a USB-Blaster and postage as well, which saves me at least $20 as well.
Probably more knowing how expensive postage is getting over here.
I'll keep everyone posted as we progress.
Probably should clean up this stack of PlayStation 1s I have here so they shine for the camera! :loyal:
