He didn't say it had arrived! Said it was on the way!

Can't wait to have my skepticism squashed.

 I didn't take notice of the post date/time and assumed it had because of time zone differences.
Here's hoping skepticism will be no longer needed, cheers!

    LOL!

It's arrived in the hands of probably the only person on this forum with no immediate access to a PlayStation as well. I'm keeping the faith though.

I'm guessing the small pics are to hide the workings of it.

Thumbnail linked to hi res is the way I've always done it, but hey I do understand why people bitch about massive images on here.

No need, that fire's already stoked and currently raging out of control. It's going to take a tsunami to put that one out at this point I think.

A little from column A and column B, we did loose the smiley quick access button after all.
I am not permitted to take high resolution photos of the board, which is reasonable to prevent reverse engineering.

Also it sounds like some of the people on this forum don't have jobs that require them to be away from home for long periods.
Perhaps they want to have a cry about it. Maybe [VIDEO REMOVED AT REQUEST OF ANGRY FORUMERS] will help them get over it.

I'd buy a PS1 if it wouldn't take a week to get it to me which would of course defeat the purpose... that and I'd have yet another PS1.

The project itself is not going to be live for a while anyway at the rate of development so what's the rush? So many trolls, so little time.

Classy YouTube video, can't handle criticism so you issue personal attacks that are also rather sexist. And reverse engineering? Please. It will get reverse engineered the second a single unit gets shipped to someone who wants to bother doing so.

Seems pointless - based on what's been written on this forum, anyone with even a little technical knowledge can figure out what's on the board anyway.

On the front, there is an Altera FPGA in a 144 pin QFP - probably a Cyclone III, EP3C5E144 - possibly EP3C10E144, but I don't think it needs that much logic. The regulator at the lower left is going to be a 78M05 to reduce the 7.5V from the PSX to 5V. The one above it is probably a 3.3V reg to subregulate down either the USB Vbus or the 5V from the other regulator to run the logic. The empty space to the right of the USB connector is presumably for a 64kbit serial EEPROM so that the TI USB chip can boot without being connected to a USB host. There are also 2 10-pin headers, which seems rather strange - possibly one is JTAG and the other is an AS programming port?

On the back, there is a micro SD card socket, a USB controller chip (which cybdyn has already said is a TUSB3210), an xtal (12MHz according to the data sheet), a serial config EEPROM for the FPGA (EPCS4 or EPCS8 depending on the FPGA fitted) a couple of LEDs, another regulator (presumably 1.8V) and the clock osc for the FPGA.

The jumper looks like it's there to provide a low impedance power or ground connection between the USB and the 5V reg. The flying lead is a bit of a mystery, but my wild guess is that that it's connected to the UART output on the MCU to provide a debug channel that doesn't interfere with the USB comms.

    Do I win a cookie?

Maybe the whole reason people are pissed off is because you're supposed to be 'one of us' confirming the existence/functionality of this device. Instead we find what sounds a lot like a fucking puppet spouting 'official' managerial bullshit about the same device we've been wanting to hear anything but 'official' statements about.

We want one of our own to confirm it's existence and functionality. What's pissing me off RetroJunkie is your soul purpose was to plug this thing into a PSX and say it works great or shit then film the results and inform your fellow forum brethren.

When you say things like "The project itself is not going to be live for a while anyway at the rate of development so what's the rush? So many trolls, so little time." you make all the people dieing to hear the results look like impatient twats and defeat the whole purpose of 'someone needs to confirm this works' which I believe is pretty much the whole reason you've received a unit is it not?

I have to say, while I always believed the project is real (and still do) but just affiliated with a bunch of douchebags, I have to say, you guys are certainly doing a bang-up job of discrediting yourself wherever possible.
