Who said anything about being financially well off? :p
Reason I am time poor is because I am working to keep the bills away...!
Seems we just live to earn money to pay bills to eventually lose our minds and die. What a bleak outlook! :)

At least we have PSIO and DCIO though...! :D

That's because everyone was drunk over the weekend, or was that just me? :-o

Relax, there's nothing really to discuss until next week when RJ is able to test this thing anyway. He's already posted a video showing the device up close if you didn't see it.

It's 2am on a Thursday morning and I start work far too soon... but... just for you guys... Clicky
With the help and patience of Shadow, we have some further progress.
Colour is missing as it is an NTSC game on a PAL console without the colour correction mod.
Don't worry though, I'll be using the XRGB-mini for the videos. So expect the finest quality from a JVC handycam... :)
    And don't forget to smile!

uh, since when do PAL PS1s need a fix to play NTSC games with color? or is that something modchips did too? (i played some NTSC games on my PAL console, all in best colors, but my console is chipped so im not sure)

You ether need a colour correction mod installed internally, or you need a SCART (RGB) cable to display NTSC in colour. The reason for this is that they're two different television standards and as such the colours are encoded differently into the respective signals. Some TVs automatically correct the colours, most if not all modern sets do. However back in the day, if you weren't using a super expensive TV then you lost colour when playing anything other than PAL on a PAL TV and vice versa.

    For those wondering:
    PAL - Phase Alternating Line - UK & Europe - 50Hz 720x576 Interlaced
    NTSC - National Television Standards Committee - US & Japan - 60Hz 720x480 Interlaced

There is also SECAM but this isn't being discussed here, there are also other territories using PAL and NTSC but I only mentioned the prominent ones.

Since always. Chipped and "color-fixed" PAL PSX outputs PAL60, but most TV's in Europe supports this.
Correct me somebody, if I am wrong.

''ALL'' PAL Playstation 1's using a true RGB cable will display colour on any NTSC game as long as your TV has an RGB scart socket, which most flat HD sets certainly do. There has never been a game I have come across that needed anything else but the right cable and TV. Spinning or mod-chip, either way gave colour.

When we are talking about PAL and NTSC, we're not talking about RGB. This is not about just use SCART cable, this is about TV signal differences and being able to play any game on any TV and any cable.

Surprisingly yes, we weren't expecting it to and then boom - music!
While the in game music works but there's no background music at the menus - which I thought was odd!
You still get the announcer yelling things at you though - it's a bit creepy without background music :)

BTW: where are all the skeptics? Somehow I don't see sorry posts from them, it was quite a drama. Is it possible to rename thread to something better like "PSIO working proto" or so?

No idea, I think I blocked most of them using the ignore feature... :)
Although don't thank me, thank the two who are working on bringing this to the masses! Cybdyn and Shadow!

Edit: Yes a thread title change would be good - without getting angry mods involved who was the original poster? Just edit post then hit advanced and edit the title away.
Same should probably be done for the DCIO thread, aka Facebook something or other emulation something Dreamcast! :)

You ain't getting no apology from me. :p :) As a long time member I had every reason to be skeptical and you can't deny that some of the info coming out in the early stages was sketchy to say the least.

Cool to see it's working though, nice job.

Agree with twimfy as per usual.

Being skeptical isn't s crime, especially with how things have played out with this project and its leader.

Also glad to see some concrete 3rd party verification. Looking forward to see it finished.
