Game Demo Videos
- Tekken 3 - I have since managed to get Tekken 3 to load to the menu, but it seems to lockup when I choose a battle.
- Dance Dance Revolution 5th Mix - I get a 20-something combo on this! That's pretty good for me
- Final Fantasy VII - This one is fantastic, along with VIII, IX and even Chrono Trigger!

Just one question (and it's slightly off-topic) - Why can't the PS2 HD Loader (and its variants) load PS1 games? - And would it be possible to integrate both PSIO and HD Loader into one? (yes, I know, it's probably a stupid question....but I'm not a tech expert!)

 

ps2 hardware is disabled when ps2 is in ps1 mode. that means you can't use ps2 hdd or ps2 usb ports for ps1 loading. think of it like, you can't use wii remotes when your wii is in gamecube mode.

i don't know if it is possible to overcome this difficulty, even if it was possible, it should be quite hard. i don't want to say impossible, since people were saying gamecube iso loading from wii usb port was impossible, but now there are 2 homebrew which exactly does that.

 

Not bad, but I'm curious if XA functionality will be possible

it's possible integrate psio to PS2 and play game from ps1 on it, and play native ps2 games by using (fixed) HD loader/OPLx by method of pacth (CDVDMAN/CDVDFSV) . maybe in future.

Thanks for testing the yaroze compilation. Since they ran fine I guess the challenge lies on more specific real-time CDROM functions and CDXA... I'll wait for the finished version eagerly!

Game Demo Videos (Batch 2)
- R4: Ridge Racer Type 4 - The red car goes much faster than the black one. I knew red was a faster colour!
- The Legend of Dragoon - Bit of a non-event, but you get to see who presents it in the US as well as in European market...
- Metal Gear Solid - My friend had a PS1 and lent it to me. I was terrible at MGS. Never gave it another thought... until now!

I've just tested out two more games and good news, they seem to work well apart from missing background music.
22. Namco Museum Vol. 1 - In-game background audio missing, otherwise functional.
23. Marvel Vs Capcom - In-game background audio missing, otherwise functional.

You bet it is. Great for on the road, terrible on a desk Then again the current ones have had quite a bump since this mid-2010 model.

Wondering why there is a Cuckoo on the PSIO?
Found it outside my home while I was testing. About 10 Noisy Miners were attacking the poor thing... and two Butcherbirds hovering nearby...
Swept it into the pizza box shown in the FFVII video and then made up a nice little home inside a Sega Activator box.
Oh well, pretty cool to get a bird for free, right? (Just kidding, the wildlife rescue mob is on the way to collect).

No PSIO prototypes or Cuckoos were harmed in the making of the above photo or any PSIO demonstration videos.

 

I got an i5 2011 model after I sold my C2D. Amazing machine.

 

Game Demo Videos (Batch 3)
- Metal Gear Solid: Integral - Works as MGS did, now with Japanese subtitles!
- MediEvil II - Gets stuck if you talk to the top hat ghost... don't talk to the top hat ghost
- Chrono Trigger 1.0 - Seems to work quite well, no audio on the FMV but in-game audio is all there including background music from memory.
- Chrono Trigger 1.1 - This one gets stuck on the intro FMV and is compared with the 1.0 FMV.
- Cuckoo Bird Update - Just some bonus video I cooked up while waiting for the above to upload

It's going to be a long couple of days. The local wildlife mob didn't turn up as they said they would. Volunteers, so who can blame them!
Apparently this little guy would just get euthanised anyway. So it's OK for animals to escape this hell known as life, but we have to live through it?
No way, not on my watch. If I have to live - so does this bird! It made some noise today which was exciting. Hadn't heard a peep up until then.

Back on topic though, sorry to hijack it with El Psy Cuckoo, we'll have some Crash Bandicoot 1, FFIX, Resident Evil 1, Star Ocean, Tenchu and a revisit of Tekken. Probably will have these up in the next week or so. Bird takes priority at the moment.
