This may sound stupid, but if we get PSN+ for free, do you think it activates the day the network goes back up, or when the store actually does a week or two later?

So is PSN still down? I've not really read in to it since I'm not really bothered but I do know that if it was still down and I was a PS3 user, I'd be mighty pissed off by now.

Still down, I don't even care, my PS3 firmware is 3.15 so no online for me anyway...
I've been playing a bit of Killzone 1 online, at least 10-15 people are playing on the US server, compared to the 2 players (including me) on the european server, and I noticed the japanese version doesn't even have online...
And some multiplayer Destruction Derby 2, whenever I can find a few people to play it.
I even reinstalled Soldat, so the PSN can stay down till 2012 for all I care... :)

Shit, still down. Man, that is one major kick in the balls. I guess PS3 owners can't complain too much though since it was a free service anyway or are the paid subscriptions (sort of like Xbox Live Gold) down as well? If so then that would call for some generous free passes IMO.

I don't see why I'm forced to pay for XBL. I pay for internet, I do not wish to pay for further subscriptions to allow me to play online. It's unfair and bizzare.

Aside from not being able to play online... you can't play games that rely on PSN for DRM.. like Final Fight!

Enjoy your 30 days of PSN+ that requires PSN, which is down...
Is that all they give to people who have had their accounts cleaned off their credit cards? That's like having your birthday cake shat on

"At SONY, we insure that the service we provide is not usable"

Many people have said this, and I will repeat; Sony fucked up big time....so bad.

God help them to get new users on the PSN!:p

That's like saying 'I don't see why I have to pay for good web hosting. I pay for my internet connection so why should I pay?'. You are paying to use their servers. Whilst it sucks that you have to pay for it, it's hardly a price that breaks the bank. If you're really that bemoaning, you could always use a service like Xlink Kai or XBSlink. Whilst I have never tried it myself, I understand it gives a basic enough service for games that support System Link.

I don't think we'll lose our trophies, they'll just have to be re-synced but what if all our accounts have been deleted on Sony's servers, I really can't be bothered to start a new account and play all these games again to get back 3 years of trophies.

Amazingly enough, Sony is now offering all PSN subscribers a free year of identity theft protection.

I... I really don't know what to say about that.

PSN was only hacked once. SOE was hacked around the same time (but is separate servers).

Yes. I'm not going to blame them for getting hacked. And I understand it's not a 2 step process to overhaul a security system. I'm not going to hold a grudge against them for one plunder when something like that can happen to ANY company. No business is safe from hackers, if it can be built by humans it can be disassembled by humans.

I feel sorry for Sony right now the amount of lost money, stocks and trust because of some scumbag(s). If the people responsible are ever caught I will "LOL" till I break my chair.

Besides, credit cards can be canceled, phone numbers can be changed, you can move house and you can even change your name. So really all they are left with are a usless DOB. Sure it's annoying, but it depends on how far you are willing to go to change your identity.

I find it hard to feel sympathy/empathy for any non living thing...

Changing your identity sounds like the reasonable thing to do when people are charging up credit in your name

Who cares you've been using the same name your whole life and everyone you know and love knows you by it.

Yea don't feel bad for human beings, feel bad for corporations who make and crush peoples dreams/lives as a matter of business.

Meh, the games still have offline content and achievements, so I've been burning through those. I really only go online with comp games anyway.
