The PSP rumor-mill is certainly grinding away at full speed. And it would appear we might only have to wait until E3 in June to see what Sony have in store. Thankfully, it would seem Sony are planning to ditch the UMD format and the new system will instead have either 8 or 16GB of internal flash memory. This was inevitable really, considering all new PSP games are offered as digital downloads anyway. Sony are planning on having as many as 100 original PSP games available for download when the new system launches. It's also rumored that the system may have a built-in Go! Cam (another no brainer) and a sliding form-factor. (Artist's Impression) There's lots more information over on 1up.com.
There are definitely more versions of the PSP than non-port games that are worth playing on the system itself :-(
There are alot of PSP games worth playing. Anyways a crap load of PSP games geared at the western market have been anounced recently. Two big ones yesterday are Soul Calibur (based on 4) & Tekken 6 (day and date with the console versions). Capcom also anounced its bringing Fate/Unlimited Code PSP to PSN later this year.
I should start playing my PSP...I've had it forever but I just don't play handhelds much. I want God of War...the demo of that was so damn fun.
I d certainly purchase this, considering I m using only legit software on my PSP and PS3. btw: the rendition is wrong, the artist failed to take into account that the L and R buttons should be fixed at the lower half, unlike what's pictured.
PSP Go= SOny Bankruptcy......... I don't like the idea of Digital games only. It makes sense with the Iphone But DSI and PSP......worthless Especially to a collector.
It's also really useful for actually remembering you have something. I just remembered after years that I own Oblivion on direct 2 drive.
This new PSP seriously isn't for us at all. It's purely just going after the IT crouwd who at the moment think iPod is hot shit and everything should be DD only (f*king retards if you ask me). Still people will be able to buy PSP3000 units and sony will not stop printing games on UMD. This unit is also not a PSP2. It's just a DS lite.
The only way I like DD is if it's really cheap vs physical, xbla works for me and so does some PC games. I've bought a bit of PC games DD lately.
Yeah I probably have like 80 XBLA games plus but they aren't large enough to be retail games OR I have physical copies of them on another system.
Download only = homo. Note that I hate handhelds for the most part, though. I've tried to love many PSP games. Lumines II is the only one that's delivered.
The evidence for a UMD-less PSP seems to be building. Patapon 2 has been released as a PSN exclusive in the USA for $19.99. Capcom also recently announced that they'll be making somewhere between 20 and 40 PSone & PSP titles available for d/l from the PlayStation Network over the coming months. I think it's obvious that the 'PSP Go!' or whatever it's going to be called is a reality. I can't wait for E3 so we hopefully get to see the thing and get confirmation of the exact hardware specs. I agree that it certainly won't be for everyone. But personally, I'm well up for it.
I think it's pretty obvious/a given that this thing is real and is going to be anounced at e3. Hell I can even give you the specs of it in advance It's a ****ing PSP. =) I can say that since I do actualy know something about the real PSP2 but i'm not cracking. P.S. Patapon is purely a test bed for sony to see if people would buy into the idea of games being sold at retail like games but are simply download coupons. From what i've heard, games will still be in UMD form in the future (this thing wont replace the PSP 3000, it's just a seperate model) but also games will be offered as a digital download for people who want them that way. As is, european PSN store is loaded up the ass with DD versions of PSP games. Japan it's only SCEJ doing it and in USA it's just a ****ing mess.
