Because iPhone has been DD from the get go, where as games have always been physical therefore people are accustumed to having physical copies and will feel a certain emptiness when they don't receive that physical copy.
Yet millions of them are more than happy with downloading apps/games/music/movies. So the point does not stand at all.
Looks kinda weird to me... Plus the slider thing does make it look too big. I must admit that I'm not overly impressed now I've seen some decent quality pics. Something about it looks off or unfinished, but I can't put my finger on it.
Hmm, I kinda wanted this until I heard it was download only. Guess I'm getting a PSP 3000 to replace my broken one! The PSP go sure looks a lot more comfortable control wise, though. I wonder if Sony would allow you to download a game you already physically own? lol
I agree with Johnny. The location of the thumbstick seems really awkward. In regards to download only, hopefully Sony will allow a way to register online what games you have for PSP and allow you to re-download them onto the PSP Go. That's my hope, anyway.
Sony always puts thumbsticks in weird places, to this day I will never understand the logic behind Sony's decision to keep the dual shock sticks in the thumb stretching position.
Biggest PSP Fanboy = Me Person least interested in this abortion of a handheld = Me Looks utterly shit and unplayable, although will at least give it a one-off go in the shop, assuming I can find anywhere that will stock it... fugly...
wow:/ I will share my opinion with you guys but its not the best one.. It looks to me like a disign that would fit to a proto, not a console which is on its way to the market... Secondly I think they have milked the money cow enough for the psp already. Lets move on to PSP2....?? maybe??? I am saying that, even though im gonna buy it.. and the reason why is because i am almost sure that its sales won't go well.. It will be sony's game boy micro.
It looks incredibly uncomfortable to hold/use the buttons if you ask me... Not to mention the fact that it just doesn't look good to begin with.
I really don't understand why Sony waste their time with all these PSP redesigns, they should focus all their efforts on the PSP2.
Honestly this is really gonna confuse consumers a lot. Especially those kind who don't download games off the internet. As for umd games, i'd imagine they will release some kind of special way to dump your umd games through the regular psp, though not sure how they will combat people copying in this respect.
Was waitng to see how this would turn out as i was quite interested in maybe buying one when it came out. I mean i could live with no UMD but it doesn't look that appealing and it does look unplayable vs the standard PSP design which isn't great but also isn't that bad and is ok for me to play on it. I guess i'll stick with my DS-Lite and on ocassion i'll use my fathers modded psp 1001 for now and wait for the PSP2 unless i get a cheap PSP 3000 just for myself.
Amen to that. Plus, digital distribution rarely comes without DRM and all sorts of shit that make sure you don't OVERUSE your games. I wonder if PSP Go will be getting exclusives the way DSi does now.
Meh, I'll just stick to my iPhone and Vader Psp 2000. I don't understand all the iPhone game slams. Did it suck when it first came out, yea sure. Are the games amazing now? You bet. Check out Pocket Tanks, Sway, Zen Bound, DDR S, Dropship, Vector Tanks, Pharos IV, Solar Quest, Tatomic, Galaxy on Fire, and Ancient Frog for great examples of quality, non-cellphony games. As far as this goes, I definitely like it better than the casual updates like the 2000 and 3000. But I just don't know about this direction here. We'll see. If the games are uber cheap like the iPhone, I'll pick one up.
This one redefined the "thumb stretching position". On the PS2/PS3 controlsm, i really don't think it's a problem though. Yep, doesn't look good either. Plus i hate this digital distribution ONLY. Just think in the future,if the damn memory dies... And Sony is not producing it anymore. You just lost all games you bought.
