Yes im drunk, and i just wanna share with you all that i hate all these new fucking games, the halo threees and the god of woors threes , i mean they are fun , but god damn i get bored so damn easily. I just downloaded after burner climax on my ps3 for 4.99 and i fucking love it, i've been playing non stop for over an hr, recommend me more!!!!!!! or rant with me!. sega ftw!!!! oh yes, house of the dead !!!! and shit like that, i love it!.
I like new games that try to emulate the classic vibe. Examples: Megaman 9, Braid, Scott Pilgrim the game etc.
How about House of the Dead - Overkill for Wii then? But wait! It's a new game, so it sucks, riiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiight? Just like the new Sonic games sucks because they are on non-Sega consoles. (If you didn't notice, I speak ironically)
Cool story bro. And an opinion that is shared by many a retro gamer. Sadly, I disagree more than I feel to get into. I enjoy new games more if not just as much as old games. Whatever works for you!
New games are definitely well done and some are real masterpieces. I can't stop playing GTA IV even after I got the 100% (or 99,7% to be honest ;_, so I can't generalize that opinion that I have - which is: new games are shite... I can't understand people who like to play all the stuff that's coming out, like God of War (yawn) or Gears of War (yawn, although it's quite entertaining for 15 minutes, then it becomes repetitive) or any other game that has WAR in the title. Something else I love to rant about is how easy games are nowadays. The majority doesn't ask you to improve one's skill any more. It's mostly about collecting or endurance, most games have infinite save opportunities and it becomes only a matter of time until you beat the game. The complete opposite of the 16-bit era or Arcade games. I am looking for the challenge and the satisfaction to be GOOD in a game. That's why I don't like 95% of the new games... but in the end, it all comes down to the personal taste. I guess most people don't like to play Stage 1 to 2 of a 2D shooter just to become good enough to fail in stage 3, I understand that.
Hotd overkill its really bad compared with 1 and 2, or maybe i just dont feel nostalgia when i play em.
This hobby has definitely gone down the shitter. Nothing left to do but take our clothes off and fuck. (I'm drunk too).
I agree. Overkill was VERY GOOD! people who say it was poor are either rolling with the crowd, never ever played it for more than a level or have no taste in games. Just because House of the Dead Overkill was a big step away from the original doesn't make it shit. It was still a solid gun blaster with a very good B-Movie style. Graphics for a Wii are also very impressive and I personally find the humor quite funny. Don't get me wrong, I'm a big HOTD fan but I'm not going to slag Overkill because it doesn't follow the routs. It's still a very entertaining game. Yakumo
Bayonetta bitches. Every gen has good and bad, poor and exceptional. Oh and Ave, Gears is 'great'! Repetitive for sure, but many repetitive things in life are fab. (although the grind to get 3000GS across the 2 titles was enough for me..roll on 3)
I think the problem with a lot of games today is they just don't seem to have as much replay value for single player or offline co-op as older games used to. Pretty much every game now has some deep story which you have to follow or even better have played the previous 2 games to understand. There just aren't many pickup and go games anymore. I mean did you have to play Super Mario Bros. 1 and 2 to understand 3? bu t you best play God of War 1 and 2 to understand stuff in 3.
Why can't they just make ballon fight in HD with 16 player online multiplayer so we can all get drunk and talk shit while we have a great time? I just like simple games like that for the most part, I do enjoy metal gear and a few interesting games like that, but i dont have the time.
Pretty much. Anyone who says otherwise either has extremely niche taste or just isn't playing the right games.
No more shit today than before, in the 32bit gen IMO most games were just bad, even back then I couldn't stand the pixelation, low framerate and crappy controls. Not really, but I agree on the aging, and you dont have to go that long to the 2600, 90% of the catalog was shit right out of the factory, and the remaining 10% was already smelling old when the 16bit came knocking. Shit, I found my old copy of MDK the other day, and I couldn't believe my eyes when I say the graphics...
I just finished (not completed, but finished) Super Mario Galaxy 2, and I thought it was great. It's probably my favorite Mario game, although I've never really been a huge fan of Mario games. Personally I like both new and old games, though I think I play new games more than old games for some reason.
The thing about fun is it's all in your head. Just play some fucking games. Have a good time. If you think you're going to hate some game before you even play it, then you're definitely not goint to like it when you try it.
