Probably cheaper to drive to my house :)

But think about it, its hardly worth my reputation here (I sell quite a lot of stuff here) to steal a chip for a piece of hardware I dont even own.

No cheap programmers I know of can write or read to PAL devices, that includes willems. PAL devices are pretty sophisticated in how you 'burn' them (check the datasheet for one), old hat and weren't used extensively like ROMs, etc. i.e. you'd make a design for a board and that logic design wouldn't change so you'd just burn it to all the PALs for that board and all the old models are burn once only so not many programmers bothered supporting them.
If you want to dump the chip yourself, check the datasheet and hook up a suitable power supply to the correct pins and then have LEDs on all the outputs and switched on all the inputs and one by one go through all combinations and write down what inputs are on and what outputs are on, you can then post that information up or convert it to a function.

I did a quick google and found some around £750 (that was the cheapest) that's crazy! was hoping I could find a cheap second hand burner but I guess no such luck!

The above sounds complicated and time consuming, i'll give it some thought - thanks for the input.

Reworking the logic wouldn't be that hard but if you aren't able to spit out a 3 variable XOR truthtable right now it wouldn't be fun.

Hey guys, I got my two blank chips yesterday. I ordered two just in case.

I am not 100% certain that the controllers could be the cause of this though. I would hate to be wrong, waste everyone's time, only for me to plug the new chip in and the controllers still don't work.

I tried covering the corroded legs in solder so that they had uniformed conductivity but it didn't seem to work. Oddly enough, pulling out the chip and turning the M82 yields different results every time I reboot. Usually just get a white screen, but sometimes it boots and will start, but no game will start. If I put the chip in, sometimes I get lucky and a game will start, but the controllers don't work.

Again, the controllers did work at one point while I owned it I can 100% verify. That's why I am so worried I permanently ruined something; unless of course this chip is just fried or too corroded and it does in fact do something with the controllers.

I gotta repay you guys somehow. I am a huge SNES buff; perhaps I can fix the vertical streak in your SNES systems or something as a thank you. :)

Jimmy, you should send me a chip. I can then go to K1ngArth3r when I get chance, I can then attempt to dump his chip and burn yours. I could then test it in his system before shipping to you

Could you PM me your address?

Anything you need me to pick you up that is in the USA? Something you can't easily find in the UK that I could go pick up for you as a small token of appreciation?

Sent the package out with some modest goodies as appreciation. I actually sent two blank chips in case you guys mess something up, or in case I am an idiot and plug it in backwards or something. :)

Thank you again so much. This forum is incredible and I am in all of your debt.

Sorry to bump the thread. I was just curious as to whether or not the package got there safely!

Oh, I thought I had messaged you. Turned up last week, just waiting for our schedules to match to dump the chip.

By the way, could you guys tell me which way the chip has to be plugged in? I forgot to take pictures before I removed it! :)

I'll take a picture for you when I pull my M82 out.

Can you confirm if the chip was socketed or not, It's a real pain to pull my M82 out to check so if you know it'll help :)

Yeah I pulled the chip with very little effort! No desoldering required!

I guess I'd just recommend pulling it up straight, and carefully. It's fairly easy for the pins to bend if you pull it out with your fingers or do it haphazardly.
