Hmmm how about making a little interview with the shop owner ? if you haven´t done that already ? then do it again then With first explaning in Japanese to him, that you want to interview him, and then do the Japanese / English like the first time you made an interview I will of course look forward to review the show, but right now I am downloading the show, because I have been at a friend this weekend , where we had acces to the net, but I didn´t have my pc with me.
loved volume 17 and must say it was well done. I must say that shop is amazing. Are the prices reallly high there? Also i was curious but why does the jpn ver of shinobi have a yellow lable and which version do you reccomend to get? Btw loved that the opening featured the splash screen of your dvd player, felt it was very classy.
Well, this little show was a nice little and lovely show no doubt about that at all the only letdown, is when you finish a review, it is like you are shouting "cut", and then rushes on to the next review. But maybe make the ending a bit softer between the reviews ?, and the easto westo felt a bit rushed, but not bad at all Well: It was a very fine and nice show
Glad you liked it. Yeah, the prices in that place can be a bit crazy at times. hardware can be a right rip off but then again a great deal. You really have to look through everything. Hmm, not too sure what you mean there on Shinobi about the yellow lable. As for which version it's a tough call. The ideal version would be a mix of both. they both play the same but some of the tunes in the Japanese version are pure crap but saying that some of the PAL tunes are crap as well. Probably the PAL version would be best since it has subtitles for the movie sections. hehehe, That DVD splash screen is from my little multi region box of wonders. So cheap yet even supports prog' scan ! Importaku has one as well. I added that DVD section in the hope that it may get a few of you to buy the DVD version. thanks for the review ! Yeah I know what you mean about the "cut" comment. That's all down to the editing whicvh I tend to do in the early hours of the morning. It's funny that something seems long at that time but when you watch it back during the day it's really short. Oh yes, the East to West section was rushed ray: The next one won't be I hope. yakumo
Well, I finished watching this one. I really liked it. I own some of the games featured, so there weren't as many surprises as in previous episodes. Thunderforce IV is one of the most awesomest games ever made, by the way. I really lke TFV too, and I've played it more - but four is better proportionately. The only drawback for me, even if you have REALLY improved your stealth camera and it didn't make me sick anymore, is that you went to that store and now I'm burning with envy. I went to the black market after seeing Retro Core 17 and I felt REALLY sad with the state of things there, and the prices people have started charging here. Now, EVERYTHING is a "collectible" - a beat up Genesis, an old GBA, whatever. So you can't afford anything anymore. Seeing the way the Japanese treat their used games and sell them for reasonable prices makes me seriously depressed when I remember I still live here. I'm going to move there one day, and I hope I can have a couple drinks with you, Yakumo.
Retro Core Volume 18 is out now on Download and DVD FTP download at http://www.segagagadomain.com/RetroCorepage-main.htm and URL & FTP Downloads at http://www.archive.org/ Yakumo
Thank you Yakumo it looks like a fine episode, now I will just wait untill it is dloaded, to give you a review of it
Well i donwloaded this a couple of days ago but decided to wait to review it, well i can say this has got to be one of your best shows ever. The games selection was good, the treamcast segment got to the point and showed how it looked and such. However im not sure if this error has been fixed, but on the version i downloaded off of archive.org, the ending occurs, however there is an extra bit in which the last 20min repeat again, which would explain the file size being a bit bigger then usual. Also the commercial choosen were fantastic, i never seen the ninja gaiden 3 cm for japan and i must say it makes it seem as if the game is extremely epic. Keep up the good work cause it seems to be getting better and better.
The last 20 minutes repeat? That would explain why the file size is so big ! Virtual Dub can be a right pain in the backside sometimes. Oh well, at least the DVD version doesn't have that problem. I may fix it if I get time but it seems unlikely since now I'm working on the new revamped Sega Saturn Shooting Special. Yakumo
Aside from the minor bit with the 20 minutes repeating, it's an excellent episode as always, Yakumo. The new intro is great .
I'm glad you like the new intro BlueNocturne. It only took about an hour to build. The long part was getting all the art work ripped then scaled up for DVD resolution. Yakumo
Indeed - a great episode, like it's usual from Yakumo. Apart from the extra 20 minute repeat, everything has taken perfect shape. The game selection this time is also very interesting. I remember playing Vapor Trail in the arcades back in 92 or so, when the game was already a bit old, I guess... I never remembered the name of the game, but the "New York City has also gone silent" line had stuck with me for some reason. Good work, as always.
Great episode although there is a bit in the saturn vs pxs section where the picture goes all red/blue lined for about 30 seconds, appart from that and the reapeated 20 minutes of show deffinitly one of the best eps thusfar
Hmmm I still need 20 minuttes or so, before I have the show, damn and I have been downloading this since 17:00 .. this is taking for longer me than it is normally, when I download big files from bittorent :-/... And I know I have a good internet conection. But now I have the file down, and I will review it, when I have seen it
What a nice show indeed Hmm the only letdowns were some graphic glitches (it just showed lines) in the VS game section, and well I am not really a Famicom/NES, but I am beginning to want a FPGA Video Game Console by Kevin Horton, since I would love to play many of the Famicom games And when you showed Vampire , I almost got a chill down my spine, since I have been playing that game alot (on emulator), and I wish some guy would hack the game, and make a Castlevania game on SMS . Heck, I even now own a famicom clone (2 to be exact) bought from BILKA in Hundige ,where I have a real 101 in 1 game cartridge with one of them. and another (and more shitty on with hacks and just bad games on it). And well ok enough of my rambling, and back to the review. Well it was a fine and good show, and I loved how you made a headbutt to a forum that hates The ASSEMbler boards more than anything with that great Rtype rippoff, that was a great shooter by the way. But anyway, I think you are using a gamegear emulator when you are showing the game gear games But it was a very good show P.S. Do you know a Contra ripoff with a cowboy , and he has the same controls like in the original Contra ? Since I have that strange game, on one of the two pirate carts.. and the game is exactly like Contra, just that he is has a cowboy hat on his head ?
Thank for the feedback guys ! Ah, yes I knwo what that is. When I make the download version I recently just play the DVD one and do a direct copy. While the DVD was playing I hit the s-video cable from the player to the PC which knocked it out of the PC a little. I could have re-done the download version but I'm far too busy these days so I just left it :110: Like I always say though, the DVD versions are perfect  Actually that wasn't a dig at that particular site but more a dig at the elit "we got loads of cash so we own the big stuff" boys who are at the front of Neo Geo scene. It seems that they jump down anyone's throat for disagreeing with them. Of course this isn't all of them. Yes, I am but don't be fooled in to thinking that Game Gear overlay is from the emulator because it's not. I placed that over the screen just for coolness :icon_bigg I could do the Game Gear stuff full screen but I think it looks better displayed in that Game Gear overlay. I actually run Game Gear games in high resolution via the Dreamcast ;-) GameBoy stuff is also via emulation and again through the Dreamcast. By the way, what do you guys think of the new opening and ending? Yakumo
Personally i'm not too big a fan of it it feels kinda slow and dragged out, but it's well made i'll give you that
I really liked the cuberpunk feel to the opening. I didn't recognize the game in which the scenes were from, but song choice completed the feel of the theme. Bublegum Crisis has some great music. It's good to see that people are still listening to it these days. ;-)
