Yeah, I know what you mean about the length of it. Sort of thought that myself. the original was 2:15 long ! I should have kept that and added it as a bonus on the DVD version. Hey, I'm glad you like the ending for one main reason ! I was completely drunk when I made that  There I was knocking back my 4th 500ml can of Kirin Larger Beer when I suddenly had this idea for the ending. Thank God for spell checkers :110: You should have seen how many words the spell checker changed on that ending. Almost every one !! The graphic art is taken from a Mega CD game called Illusion City. It's highly unlikely that many people have ever saw this game so that's why I chose it. Besides, it has a great cyber punk look to it as you mentioned. The music in Bubblegum Crisis is indeed very good ! Not only the vocal tracks but also some of the BGM as well. Recently I've been on a BGC CD hunt. Got loads now including a CD Single titled You Know. Yakumo

Downloading. Hey Yakumo, any chance of more game store and arcade videos? I simply drool seeing those stores with tons of games, old, new, used, brand new,... ! I simply amazes me that you can go to a store in 2006 and buy a brand new (sealed) Famicom game. Game Stores here are so lame, only sell new stuff...
Very very nice show, and the reviews were good, and what surprised me was the Rainbow Islands theme on the mobile phone since I found out that they used the Bubble Bobble theme to it, of course I know it was Taito who had made both games. But what surprises me more, is the arcade version says with another title under the main title "the story of bubble bobble 2" when I´ve always had been wondering about that, when I think back on many people have said to me, that BB2 wasn´t Rainbow Islands , where other people have said it is. And what makes wonder the most is, when the PSX had an old collection of Taito classics, they said in the review in a UK English magazine (I can´t remember wich one by the way) that Bubble Bobble 2 and Rainbow islands were on that disc , and other stuff. So that still makes me wonder, since I like them both alot, but I don´t see RI as BB2... but I could be wrong. The only real let down was this, and I mean it, since you are in some ways making me want to buy your episodes via registred letter on DVD from you. Because of you are lowering the resolution again. But hey, it is your show
I liked it. It did have a little error in the "shite of the month" section (the cartridge remained visible and obstructed the text), but other than that, it was quite a good show. I liked the CM section, too. Overall, quite good.
Yeah, rainbow Islands is the story of Bubble Bobble part 2 even though it has nothing to do withthe original apart from the main character. I'm not really sure how the Bubble Bobble world goes but I do know that 1st was Bubble Bobble and 2nd was Rainbow Islands. After that you have Parasol Stars which I would say is Rainbow Islands 2 and Bubble Symphony which could be Bubble Bobble 2. I need to save on HD space so...... Yakumo
Well Yakumo-sama I have to say this this , the main character must be a morphed child, since in Bubble Bobble we only have Bub, and Bob. And those two characters are a kind of dinosaur.
I always thought they were dragons (thought I as kid also thought the kapa in FF6 was a green duck too ^^)?
Oh well, let us call them Chinese mini dragons , since dragon bones in China = dinosaur bones. And then we have the correct answer but I do believe that you are more correct than me.
Bub and Bob were children but changed in to dinos or at least that's what I remember. I'll have to look it up on the net. yakumo
Yakumo-sama I believe you are right, since they are transformed when they are asleep or something like that (well that is how I think it is , at least on the Master System version of the game, and I believe also on the C64, hmmm I should definitely soon plug my C64 in, and play some good old cool Comodore 64 games )

Downloading part one now - pity me and my half megabyte connection. I'm thinking of using this as the basis for a shopping list when I go to Japan this summer - looking at a list like this makes me realise how many shooters I'm missing. Anyway thanks Yakumo - this looks awesome.
I've missed some shooters out as well such as Sol Divide and one or two others because I don't own them so I couldn't video them. I was thinking about adding the likes of FPS and Mech shooters such as Gungriffon but ended up not bothering since they aren't really shooters in the traditional sense (space or platform) I also missed out 2 Gundam platform shooters that I do own mainly because I just couldn't be arsed playing them. Yakumo
Just finished watching the whole thing and before I say anything - great job! (Good Friday over here = lots of Lie in time) I hate to be negative but on the download version from Archive, the first part repeats for about 20 mins at the end. Not really a hassle, but just so you know! Oh and the only other negative would have to be that I loved Tokan to Ipatsu! But then again I really like the whole Time Bokan thing, I even spunked a solid 10000 yen when the pachinko game was out last summer. I just love the music and huuge sprites, though I must admit the gameplay is seriously broken in places. Eg, you can't really bomb a boss as you will probably get hit before the explosion sprite pisses off! But apart from that personal preference it was excellent. Your screen and sound capture in particular were brilliant, it was great to hear you comment on the music when you could really hear it this time round. Also glad to hear that someone else doesn't really "get" what is so special about the Psikyo games. I have never understood why people seem to get so religious about them. They are just a little samey. Well you have inspired me to get hunting this summer, though there is no Shooter that I am not aware of, you have persueded me to hunt down some others I have kinda forgotten about. Good example would be In the Hunt, I know of it, but never realised that it looks bloody brilliant! So thanks again for a solid 2 hours-ish of entertainment. I almost feel guilty it was free!. Must have taken you ages to grab all that footage. And as for Sol Divide, I hate that game anyway. (or maybe I'm just crap at it) Frustrates the hell out of me when the first couple of easy stages are over and done with and it seems like you are navigating a small sky scraper through a ton of bullets.
Thanks for the feedback Warakia. I have no idea why archive.org keeps buggering up the downloads. I watched all the files that I uploaded just to make sure they were fine. There must be something wrong with their upload system. It took about 1 month to film, edit and dub that Saturn Shooting Special (ver.2). The original filmed with a video camera took about 2 days  I really couldn't be bothered finishing ver.2 at one point. I had all these files on the PC that needed my comments to be added to them but I just didn't feel like. It probably shows on some and you can tell that I wasn't in the mood when I commented on RSG  Yakumo
Volume 20 of Retro Core is now out on DVD and download via http://www.archive.org/ by URL or FTP and not to forget from the official FTP which is getting hammered at the moment - http://www.segagagadomain.com/RetroCorepage-main.htm
