I watched volume 11 last night. Great stuff as always. That SFC arcade stick looks really cool - very solid looking. Too bad there aren't many arcade-style games for the SFC that I'd be interested in. I wish they had a stick like that for the Mega Drive/Genesis. And yeah, I agree, that Sega Millennium thread is just stupid. Well, not the thread so much as the things it references.
Yeah, I've been really busy so I didn't have time to update the site although it is playing in the video box
Just a heads up to let everyone know there will be a new battle of the ports tomorrow but what's extra good news isthat I'll be doing a 60fps version for download. I watched back the 60fps version and it DOES look much smoother than the standard 30fps video. There is one downside though, it's 3.7GB in file size! This is because it's double the frames of the standard video and it's encoded at a very high quality rating. Still, if anyone want's to give the 60fps version a try, feel free to do so.
Retro Core 4 - Volume 12 Have you ever wondered what games you may have missed for a very common system? Well, in Europe the Sega Master System was king of consoles unlike the US and Japan where the Famicom / NES ruled supreme. In Europe Sega had it big during the 8bit and 16 bit days. So it stands to reason that the European Master System library is massive! But that's not to say every game was released in Europe. Oh no. The Koreans were busy ripping off other peoples work and porting the games to the Master System as well as 1 or 2 original titles. Some of which are actually pretty good. Check them out in the special Korean Master System game round up as well as Out Run 2019 for the Mega Drive and Alien VS Predator on the arcade. You Tube - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sM-uASnfZW0
Top quality as usual Yakumo!!!! Well worth the wait. I remember saving for months and getting SOR 3 for £60 on release day, rushed home smashed into my Mega Drive powered on and started playing, my first impression was wow what great animation but f**k me what awful music, good game but not as good as 2. What the hell was up with yours? Glitchy as anything, is a bootleg?
No, mine is an official cartridge. It working fine last week but for some reason it kept crashing at that same spot when battling the kangaroo and clown guy.
Excellent, guess what??? I was listening to Full Metal Goddess from the Broken Thunder OST just before starting this episode, spooky!!! Great tune, watching the episode now
How strange!!! MD carts are usually pretty solid, don't think it is a well known glitch, must have really wanted you to unlock the kangaroo.
That's what I thought was happening. I had read about the Kangaroo cheat years back. I couldn't remember how it went but I do remember it saying something along the lines of killing the clown first. Maybe my cart really is damaged? Funny that it worked just fine the other week. This is the first legit Mega Drive cartridge I've ever seen crash.
Awesome news Yakumo - I'll also hold off and grab the HQ site version once the YT exclusive window is sorted!
I'll be doing a 60fps download of the show too This will be the first Retro Core to be released in 60fps. I was a bit worried because the live camera sections are recorded at 25fps or 29.9fps depending on if I'm using Cinema mode or not. But they look just fine once re-encoded in to 60fps. The game footage is all played at 60fps (2D stuff is always at that speed) so that looks fantastic.
Indeed it is!!! Also like a lot Fire-Leo 05P ''SYRINX' and Electric Beast Jungle, overall that soundtrack is quite brilliant, shame (again and again) the game never came out on Dreamcast Need to find a Katana box from Tecnosoft...
Another excellent episode, good job! Also, I just went over your channel and saw the video for 10 1980's cartoon themes in stereo. I really needed that nostalgia bomb, thank you!
Great show, Yakumo! Always enjoy watching your new Retro Core videos -- you always cover something I hadn't heard of before and manage to keep it fresh!
