As soon as the next show is finished. The missus is taking the boy out today so I should have some free time.
A Retro Core 4 special is now up on YouTube.
I wonder if anyone actually noticed this update Well, the 2nd part of the dezaemon 2 special is now in production but after that I'm thinking of taking the show in a new direction. When i normally make Retro Core just play the games for the show but I'm thinking of maybe doing 1 game per show. The game in question would be the one I'm actually playing at the time. This way I could go more in-depth about the game that what I do now. Right now I'm playing Area 88 for my Retro fix as well as modern games. If I was to cover Area 88 I could tell you and show you much more about the game along with my true feeling about it. What do you think?
Nice Dezaemon 2 show, I'm going through it right now, so many shmups at once 1 game in depth per show would be interesting, I'd watch it for sure I like the 3-4 games per show format, maybe every other show could be an in-depth on a game you're playing at the time as you said or one that you really like and why. I miss shite of the month btw
I noticed it, but I'm still waiting for the official site version of the previous show, so I didn't really have anything to say. Doing one game per show could be interesting, but I kinda like having multiple games; it adds some variety. It's always cool when you show videos of your collection or stores/arcades that you've visited.
Since I made an account thought I may as well say I've been watching your show for years and I think it's the best show of its kind around. The accent helps, I can't stand watching game reviews with american accents, yours is really pleasant. I really loved the shooting specials (would be cool to see an X360 special one day, I own them all but would still watch) & agree about Treasure. Those driving videos you've put up recently were all really cool as well. I also couldn't help but notice you've got the same initials/name as the vocalist from 'The Fall' which is pretty wild. Anyway it's always nice to see any new retrocore variant. Thus ends my slightly sycophantic rant.
I really like these slightly sycophanyic rants Thanks for the comments. It's great to hear from fans of the show. I will have the last two Retro Cores uploaded to my site this week along with the last Battle of the Ports. Then next week i hope to have the 2nd part of the dazeamon 2 special finished plus an all new Retro Core 4.
I'm with la-li-lu-lelo - waiting on the HQ download versions, can't wait to check everything out once you've uploaded them! With the new direction, I certainly don't see it as a bad thing and would be keen to see how it turns out. Would be cool to add some more videos of being out and about in Japan too - I love that stuff, especially all the undercover shopping and arcade videos!
Thanks for the comments. Time is pretty tight these days but I'll see what I can do. I've just added a video to my YouTube channel showing how to update the firmware on a Framemeister XRGBmini.
Big update to the official Retro Core site. Both Retro Core 4 Vol:15 and the Dezaemon Special part 1 are both up for download in 720p at 60fps. http://www.segagagadomain.com/RetroCorepage-main.htm And up now on YouTube is the 2nd part to the Dezaemon 2 special.
Daezemon 2 one of the great unemulated's, Thanks for the HQ video and great compilation. I'm actually about to post a thread to my show HYPER EDITION hopefully tonight or depending on when this 4k video gets done. most of my videos where HQ re compressions of mame recordings (with a twist i want to leave as a suprise since no one else is recording what I'm doing) but since they where 240p )320x224/320x224/ect) and they changed the youtube format they look awful now. I recently decided to make HYPER EDITION videos again but i wanted to resize them at 4k but was stopped by the rule of 8 where i was stuck at 720p. until i recently found out the replacement for H.264 called HEVC (High Efficiency Video coding) or H.265 and the new divx Plus converter 10.1 which supports it. Video looks absolutely stunning being re-sized by the codec from 320x224 to 2880x2016, it's still beta and my audio cuts out half way through the video, I'm converting the video now with a swapped mp3 i converted from the original video using vlc so hopefully it works. If you don't know about HEVC you can google it the specs should be very impressive, heres a link that might give people viewing this what it does compared to H264 http://www.extremetech.com/computin...eneration-video-codec-live-up-to-expectations
Hmm, HEVC sounds very interesting. I'm going to look in to that. All my game videos are actually recorded in 720p so updating them to 4K shouldn't look as bad. Actually, I could record them in 1080p but the files sizes become too big. Especially at 60fps. That's one think I'm really looking for. A very high quality codec that can reduce file sizes.
unfortunately youtube dosnt support HEVC i tried it earlier, they re using their own codec VP9 and i have no idea what uses it honestly so i had to use h.254 with mp3 but it is still 4k and excellent quality , i did get the audio swap to work btw, really sad that hevc was 877mb this h.564 mkv is 6gb lmost done uploading like 3 hours uploading.... *shakes fist at youtube*
Bummer. Looks like I'll still be encoding in mpg4 for now although HEVC could be useful for storing my videos.
yea that's what im using it for until youtube comes to their senses. id rather have a 877mb Hevc than a original 15gb avi and the hevc looks better anyway... well at least after scaling it from 320x224 haha.
Perfect timing - my wife's watching broadcast TV so I can soak up our crappy ADSL connection to grab the HQ goodness Yakumo! The thought of the 4K uploads makes me weak at the knees - I only get 0.5mbps up, a bit scared as to how long that would take to upload the crazy HD videos you've been working on coal stepping at my end!!!
Alrighty - watched the latest Retro Core, now I'm going to have to put Initial D on my to-get list!! Speaking of driving games, did you ever play Shutokou Battle 01? I've been playing it lately and am near the the end of it and have been really enjoying it. I loved the DC originals too, and I remember Shutokou Battle 2 being on a much earlier episode of the series. Would be interesting to get your thoughts on it!
