PC Engine and Saturn are just painful to collect for now, unless you have a Trust fund........which I DO have but I can't even justify spending THAT MUCH on some of these games.
Gotta love the chinese! "Nonradiative Harmless for vision"... Ok They even reused the cheap controller plastic shells! But seriously, it's a shame it doesn't have an AV out. I mean, we all know that eventually that projector will stop working right? By the way, have you tried adding roms to the sd card? This listing shows it running a GBA game: http://aliexpress.com/store/product...85228.html?storeId=1398168&isOrig=true#extend Maybe the SD card is for SFC and GBA games? Another seller has one that has GBA and MegaDrive games and that it even supports videos and audio formats: http://aliexpress.com/item/16bit-32..._4&btsid=27ce1511-c896-40c6-badc-ebc4beb0fde8 This one has hilariously bad photoshopped promo pics: http://aliexpress.com/item/P-800-18..._4&btsid=27ce1511-c896-40c6-badc-ebc4beb0fde8
I'm afraid the Micro SD card with mine is a dummy. The card has no data storage on it but you can see that two of the pins are linked together. When I put the card in to my PC it wasn't even detected.
Great one!!! Yep Dracula X all the way on the PC Engine for me too Download 2 is indeed a little weird but overall solid game. Looking forward to the episode on the Saturn!
PC Engine Cd-Rom² episode?! And yes Yakumo, very well done. The system card explaining was very simple and direct, so congrats on that. As for the system and the games itself, it's just incredible. Very nice selection of games, some i never heard of before. If it wasn't for the insane custom taxes we have down here, i would risk getting one of those. Then there's the maintenance / cap replacement... For now, i'll just have to use the Raspberry Pi 3 i bought to make a little emulation machine to enjoy some PC Engine stuff.
Thanks man. This video had been in limbo for a whole month. The games were captured at the end of July with the live sections done on August 15th. The voice over only got done last week with the title card made in 10 minutes last night as I had forgotten to make one Hehe, just what I like to do. Nothing like sitting back with a few beers and snack while enjoying something on the TV. Hope you enjoyed the show one day my friend. It is a shame on the crazy taxes you guys have. By the way, you'll have to show us your pie once it's all set up.
Yeah. To give you an idea, I just came back from the post office. Had to pay taxes to get my package from Limited Run Games. Thankfully they declared it as only 11.99 dollars instead of 45. And yes, i'm planning of showing the pi project when it's finished. I'll customize the emulationstation frontend to have separate entries by region, so PC Engine and TurboGrafx-16, Megadrive and Genesis and so on. Also need to get a SNES or Saturn usb controller as the Xbox360 dpad feels weird.
Right a few beers and a lot of snacks later I can safely say that expected this was a class episode Mark! Found it really entering and easy to understand, especially the different system cards segment, made perfect sense. It also introduced me to some games I have never seen before. I have always wanted to to get into the world of PC engine but it is the one system I have never owned. I suposse it's because it was never available in the UK (I don't count the limited PAL Turbo Grafx release) and I know I would need to own every major release which means big money and a lot of commitment. I'm gonna explore a few games via emulation I think. Good stuff already waiting for the Saturn episode!
cheers. This was an odd episode to make as various sections were made weeks apart from each other due to the crazy August work load. that's great to hear as it is one of the confusing points about the system. Will super CD Rom games work with an Arcade Card, can I use normal CD games with no card and so on. I hope it doesn't take too long but it may do thanks to spending my current free time Playing Deus Ex on the Xbox One.
Another fantastic episode Yakumo. It really shows a small glimpse of games people in the west missed. Sega of America really dropped the ball on the system. By the way, that racing game was a port of a 1996 PS1's "Shutokou Battle - Drift King". Believe it or not, it got a release in the west in 1997 as "Tokyo Highway Battle". I do remember renting a couple of times, months before i discovered Gran Turismo. Anyway, i wonder what they added on the Saturn version... Never found a comparison online. And if you really enjoy that game, there's a sequel on the PS1 called "Shutokou Battle R". Unfortunately i never had the chance to play that one, but here's some info on it: http://psxdatacenter.com/games/J/S/SLPS-00828.html
Oh, I had no idea it was based upon a PlayStation game. I would have thought the cars were updated on the Saturn game and there's a lot of FMV from a famous Japanese drift driver and mechanic. I wonder if these are new additions. I loved the Dreamcast Shustoke Battle games but could never get in to the Xbox 360 game for some reason.
Yeah, i never knew it had a Saturn version either. By the way, i forgot to post the info page of the original PS1 game. Here it is: http://psxdatacenter.com/games/J/S/SLPS-00250.html Pictures don't seem to show any real difference from what you showed on the video though. As for recent games, i'll never understand why they haven't ported the Wangan Midnight Maximum Tune series to Xbox360 and PS3.
I'm still pissing myself after the "ultra man, ultra s**t" comment!!!! Besides that this was a great episode, good to see a selection of games a bit different to the norm I have already checked the price and availability of Asuka 120%-looked fantastic and I was aware of it but always thought it was just "another" 2D fighter! Also looking forward to the special on the Karoke machine.
Another trip down to hard Off this week. Games were looked at a little but what I was really there for was some quality but cheap Hi-Fi equipment. Some really nice items in store but what did I end up buying?
