It would seem quite willful when one:

    1. Ascribe obscene amount of value to a disc that he himself mastered

    2. Closes paypal account because buyer discovered it wasn't genuine and requested a refund (very common for those who make a business of defrauding people to just dispose of paypal accounts cause it's so easy to make new ones)

    3. Acts similar with the next ebay transaction

    4. Ignore/take in private any question of the discs listed here's authenticity (obviously he knew enough that stating publicly he knocked up some quick replicas would negate his effort to acquire said obscene amounts of $$)

And I'm pretty sure, without trying to track down the post, that someone had stated in the thread where the first ebay incident became public to the effect that raylyd stated he wanted to make a copy for "personal use"
Again it would seem obvious that when he needed to know the distinction for his benefit he did and when it wasn't in his best financial interest he plays dumb.

Just my observation but what I see is a young kid who thought they had a money printing machine and couldn't resist. What I find sad is that after being found out he still isn't man enough to own his actions and just admit what he did was horrible.

^^The answer probably lies in how many blank gdr he had and who could pay without paypal

There is a difference between repairing consoles and understanding morals.

Somebody defined asbergers earlier as this Asperger syndrome or Asperger's syndrome or Asperger disorder ([IMG] /ˈɑːspərɡərz/[1] or /ˈæspərɡərz/[2]) is an autism spectrum disorder that is characterized by significant difficulties in social interaction, along with restricted and repetitive patterns of behavior and interests.

I take that as not understanding morals. He didn't know it was wrong to mislead the people he sold to. He had the right to sell as many repro's as he wanted so long as they were marked at repro's. He didn't understand misselling them to these people was dishonest.

That to me is difficulties with social interaction.

    Americans don't get irony.

Fair enough, I missed a comma for the introductory adverbial element of a sentence without an intended pause. The way I intended it was the way I wrote it, however; it was an exaggeration, and as per typing a peoples, I believe exception was implicit. I would guess the root of the problem is that we have a disproportionate number of weird, young laddies.

I am not a grammar nazi by any means; after all, I absorbed my humble grasp through osmosis. My problem is that I struggle to understand what a hell of a lot of people here are trying to say, and when I finally do, it's rarely worth the effort.

As for the whole grammar/spelling thing.

It's a fucking internet forum. Not an exam. Unless someone is completely incomprehensible then let it be.

If you're being picky over you're and your and yet you still knew what they meant then learn to relax.

It's good when information on games and the like is accurate and well referenced, but I couldn't give a fuck how people present themselves on the boards as long as they're reasonably polite and I get the gist of what it is they are saying.

There's nothing wrong with writing in a colloquial style on a discussion board.

Anyway the decision over Rayld's fate has been made. Shouldn't this thread be trimmed and then locked so buyers can see what's important?

Seems to have turned into a "I wanna bitch about everything I hate about this place" thread.

This thread needs to be locked and removed, post relevant information about the seller so buyers can know in the future.

ASD shouldn't be an excuse, I know plenty of high functioning people with autism, my little brother, and a guy I go to college with are examples.

Nearly 70% of people who voted said he should be banned, just get it over with.

I do not know if you remember my experience with Raylynd.
-Before buying shenmue beta discs I asked on: The original records were exclusive sega or were just copies? He replied that they were original copies from SEGA USA that had very few unique, there he lied. and BETA shenmue discs sold them at 600 euros.

"To discover the whole pie, I just contacted him to say that I was unsatisfied with the purchase and wanted to return the discs and I ask him return me the money, he said he did not have the money it had spent buying a bed.

"Try to fix it good, he told me to reclaim who I wanted. That he had closed the paypal account and could not do anything. Then I lock Raylynd messenger and never heard of it, directly I went to report it to ebay, paypal and the Spanish authorities against computer crime.

"If this were not enough, the thief named me over me.
"It seems a shame, my only bad experience on ebay and had been in 8 years with Raylynd, I hope some day get his due because of him I had a hard for several months i was with depression and all.

someone linked to a post on the shenmue forums somewhere in this thread (or maybe the release thread?) where the guy who dumped stated he had gotten a refund from ebay

edit: found it, requoting for borman's sake:

    http://www.shenmuedojo.net/forum/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=41786&start=30#p895326

I can definitely see a questionable aspect to getting all your money back, not returning the items, and releasing them on the net, but the guy did get screwed over from the get go

As has been said elsewhere on the forum, we have all been the victim of some kind of deal that went wrong online. It sucks, yes. You just have to do what you can to rectify the situation and get as much back as you can. In the end, you just have to learn from it and move on - sorry to sound harsh but you're not the only person who has been ripped off before now.

I don't think you understand the situation - he has a disability that makes him unaware that he is doing something socially wrong. Whilst it is still unacceptable to sell copies in this manner, it should be taken into consideration.

Did you get a refund in the end?

Talking of grammar, here's an important one - double negatives. You just used one, and in doing so you suggested that you hope he gets a desire to rape. Plus, as LeGIt said, that term is offensive and you should not use it. Now who's being really, really uncool?

On the video clip, I think it was indeed appropriate - as LeGIt said, it was about someone making a fuss that someone was doing something rude, only to feel bad because he was actually arguing about some disabled kids. The clip is from a popular show, and it is not making fun of the disabled kids, but making fun of the other guy.

I don't get all this beating around the bush. Simply put: Why should we ban this user?

    Pros:

    1. He used a GD-R Writer to burn beta material on GD-R blanks for the sole purpose to deceive and misled people into thinking these discs were very valuable.

    2. He only revealed what he was doing after intense examination and pressure.

    3. He closed his PayPal account to avoid paying people who would charge him back once the secret got loose. (Seems like he knows exactly what he's doing to me.)

    4. He did this to more than one person.

    Cons:

    1. He claims he's of diminished mental capacity.

    Result:

Given the evidence, people voted and 70% said he should be banned. At worst, banned from the whole site (ie. He's smarter than he lets on.). At best, banned from buying and selling (ie. He's not able to tell whats right from wrong). Ether way, he's getting banned. Give the evidence to any 3rd party mediator (who has no emotional investment in this) and he's getting the boot for scamming.

I think a marketplace ban (as in, that area is not visible to his user account) would be ideal.

People with Aspergers are known to be pathologically truthful, I've seen this one myself and it is part of the reason why people who have it have trouble with social interaction.

"Does this dress make me look fat?"

Guess how they answer that one? While I would anticipate Aspergers causing problems with holding a job, having successful dates, not being an outcast in school I would never anticipate someone of the sort to deliberately and directly lie about a question such as the authenticity of the media for sale.

Lying is a basic piece of morality and yes it falls within the category of social interaction. Would it be equally OK for him to stab someone in the hand with a pencil because he wanted to see what would happen? Can we file that under "oh he just has difficulty with social interaction"? The fuck no we don't. Nobody can possibly convince me he didn't intentionally commit fraud.

A case could be made that he has a reality warped just enough that since the reproductions were on official GD-R discs and were made on actual Katana hardware that, under some very specific circumstances and lines of questioning, he felt that saying they were "legitimate" was correct. If asked point blank "were these burned by SEGA employees back in 2000/2001?" any answer than "no" is a lie.

And it would appear he lied multiple times to multiple people about many questions to the point where it would appear you could add "claimed to be a SEGA employee" to the list. If that is actually the case, how the hell do you justify (in any reality) being a SEGA employee unless you were on their payroll?

Someone who tells lies and keeps tripping over those lies is not super. You're not helping much either by posting a new post every few minutes instead of editing your last one =p

There's been plenty of people who have scammed on the internet who have also done good things. They earn some rep due to that. Doesn't mean all is forgiven just because they were nice before though. I don't why it keeps getting brought up, it's not relevant really what he did in the past, fact is we've got clear and obvious lies like he worked for Sega and such that prove this isn't someone to continue trusting in this community. For a preservation community, it just hurts to see someone like this being let off the hook to hang around when they've quite clearly gone against what we're about here.
