My snes just crashed. I was playing Rendering Ranger first level. Suddenly screen went black, sound kept playing just one note. I hope this doesn´t happen again. No idea if it could be the sd2snes or my snes itself that caused it. Maybe even the rom.

If it happens again then I´ll give more details.

I think people have reported Rendering Ranger crashing on other flash carts before. I think it's just a random fluke.

Rendering Ranger seems VERY crash happy in general, to the point that I wonder if the game is actually compatible with every SNES. I've had it run for days without crashing on a 1/1/1 console, then had it crash on the title screen every couple of minutes on a 2/1/3. Sadly there are few people with an original cart to confirm that ;)
I might try making an EEPROM cart to do some testing.

Probably just bugs in the game code itself then and unrelated to sd2snes. Thanks for info :)

Any tips about how to convert videos into .sfc / MSU-1 format?

Just got an email from retrogate saying that my board has been shipped!
I'd like to give a big thanks to ikari for designing this flash cart and to krikzz for making all this possible and putting up with the annoying questions I asked because I missed my original order confirmation email ;)
Now comes the hard part... waiting for it to get here.

Welcome to the sd2snes club! Did you get it bare or with a shell? :)
Fun times with SNES. I just played many different videos with it and even after seeing the youtube clips I was surprised at the quality of them when played on the real hardware with my "new" display device :)

Bare PCB. I plan on modding a north american superFX shell or something (or just a SMW cart if I can't find anything else, might not be very pretty though), not sure how I'm gonna print out a decent label, however.
I'll certainly document the process when the time comes!

I thought I would do the same but then I realized I can´t make a nice looking hole for the sd card so I ordered the shell after the fact.

I´ll probably have to take this down after a while due to copyright of the music video but...

I can´t tell you where I found it, sorry :)
TV volume was low so you will have to up your volume to actually hear the music. In my video the quality seems bad because of my incompetence but in reality the audio quality is very good, I guess it is cd quality. The video quality is also surprisingly good considering that it´s coming from a ****** Super Nintendo

And I realized now that you can see me there from reflection, looking bored. I´m sure glad I chose to wear pants this time while filming :D

I was playing FF3 (US) on my original cartridge and the saves were erased.

Found the saves online on the same moment I left the game. The save formats are SRM and ZST.
Anyone managed to import those to the SD2SNES?

*.srm is usually a standard SRAM file. You should be able to use it without modification by simply giving it the same name as the ROM, aside from the extension.

*.zst is a ZSNES savestate. It will NOT work in the SD2SNES, but you can still get a viable save like this:
    1) Copy your rom into the folder with the *.zst file.
    2) Rename the *.zst file so that it matches the ROM's name (except for extension, again).
    3) Open the ROM in ZSNES and Load State (F4 by default).
    4) Save normally in game.
    5) When you save, a *.srm file should have been created. Copy this to SD2SNES, and you should be good to go.

Honestly, I had never finished it until age 29 or so (about four years ago), even though I'd started it probably five times before then. Out of the first seven games, it was my last one to finish, and it's still quite honestly my least favorite 16-bit Final Fantasy. Not a popular opinion, I realize, but it has balance issues, lots of really serious bugs, most of the newly introduced abilities were pretty bad ideas, and the story severely loses momentum in the last third or so of the game. It's still a good game with excellent graphics and music and some really incredible scenes (the Phantom Train and the opera come to mind), but I'm the rare weirdo who considers FFV the pinnacle of the series. :p

Anyway, yeah, don't let me discourage you, as again, it's still in the upper echelon of SNES RPGs, and better than any of the NES Final Fantasy games and most of the PlayStation games.

Firmware v0.1.5 is out with these changes:
    • Menu: Files are now sorted by their entire file name instead of the first 20 characters only
    • Menu: Ignore input from non-standard controllers (Super Scope, Mouse etc.)
    • SPC player: fix soft fade-in (first note cut off) on S-APU consoles (1CHIP / some Jr.)
    • More accurate BS-X memory map
    • Correctly map SRAM larger than 8192 bytes (HiROM) / 32768 bytes (LoROM), fixes Dezaemon, Ongaku Tsukuuru – Kanadeeru
    • minor memory access timing tweaks (should help with occasional glitches on some systems)
    Download it here.
