had my sd2snes in the post a few days back and i'm loving it. well done to ikari and krikzz, this product is amazing. when superfx and sa-1 chips are supported this cart will just get better. yoshi's island kirby's dreamland 3, super mario rpg and more. no hurry though. i'm into pocky and rocky games again atm. ain't played these properly since i packed my super wild card and all the floppy's away years back. they never seemed to play right in the emulators to me, same can be said about a lot of games. don't know what it is but when it comes to emulation verses real hardware... real hardware is way better imo.
Just a little heads up: It was late at night and I was tired and wasn't paying attention when I inserted my sd2snes in backwards, so I was wondering why it wasn't working. Thankfully it still seems to work fine so don't go crazy if you ever have such a mishap because it most likely will still work. Best to insert it the right way every time though!
Yeah the glitch doesn't happen every time for me, either. It'll happen for the duration of the current session. If you turn the power off then on, it might go away. The part of the game that I notice the glitches most is on that conveyor in the geno dome when the robots use that laser attack. That glitch does, for sure, happen on the real cart, too. Not sure about the power tab glitch. I'll try transferring your save to my real cart and see if I can reproduce it.
Just got my SD2SNES this weekend. After I save my game (Tactics Ogre - let us cling together) and shut the system off, it doesn't look like it's saving....when I open the game again, the "continue" menu option isn't there. I know this cart may handle saves differently, but I didn't see any clear instructions on how to save games or save states in the instructions. I apologize if I have missed something extremely obvious, but saving the game is really important to me and I'm willing to risk any forum backlash for asking a question like this
After saving, try resetting the game instead of turning it off. Is the continue option there after resetting?
I am using the SD card that came with it. Lock switch was on.... I noticed there was a save file from yesterday, but it wouldn't load today, so I tried testing some more....and of course it works now. I'm going to play a little further and see if I can get it to happen again. I know I saved 2 or 3 times yesterday, so it's odd that it would work now (not that I'm complaining!)
I´ve been playing around with many SFC and japanese games that I hadn´t even heard of before... It´s wonderful the kinds of things this device makes possible. Of course even some games that never saw an english release, have been released with english patches by the community to be played with emulators and conversion carts... so much easier with SD2snes. I´m a big fan of Strategy games and I am also quite fond of Mechs and the like. So now I´ve found a game called Front Mission. Apparently some people translated it into english way back in the early 2000s. Never heard of this game before, it´s like a mix of Mech Commander and Tactics Ogre. I really love customizing and building my own mechs and the battles are fun even though the AI has a bit of case of stupid pacifist sometimes. (they just sit there when their friends are being fired upon). It´s very easy to find games worth buying with SD2SNES and this one certainly is just that. Very good game, very affordable (even in complete boxed edition!) and easily available. Doesn´t matter if you have sd2snes or not, you need to buy this game if you haven´t already http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00391H7BW/ref=olp_product_details?ie=UTF8&me=&seller= (of course you need either a super famicom or a modded snes to play the real cart)
SD2SNES, but its also way more expensive. You must weigh cost versus compatibility. Another thing is the SD2SNES has much more potential. Although you shouldn't purchase one for what it could be in the future, but the SuperED's power is pretty much tapped out, where as the SD2SNES' is not.
I'm pretty sure you'll still want a 50/60hz switch, or all NTSC games will play slower than designed. I don't think flash carts can access that setting.
Many of us have been playing these games without emulators or conversion carts for over a decade. "Backup Devices" like the Game Doctor SF and Super WildCard predate the SD2SNES and all the other flash carts by quite some time. SD2SNES is just the latest flash cart and so far the one with the most features and potential. If you have a PAL console you will want to get a 50/60hz mode switch so playing NTSC games happens at the proper speed. You are right that no flash cart on its own can alter that. There is some sort of mod that is supposed to allow the cartridge/software to switch that setting on the fly.
Well... it´s just new for me personally as I didn´t really get back to a real physical snes after it´s prime time was over. But I´m sure there was never a full year without emulating SNES in one way or the other. That finally made me realize that I never should have sold the snes in the first place. After getting a snes modded, sd2snes seemed like a good choice to go for and it probably does a better job than anything before it. Supercic+IGR mod with sd2snes are nice to have.
So that means like, I'll have to open my SNES and do some modifications to it? Where can I buy that switch?
yes you need to do modifications: old simple way: http://www.mmmonkey.co.uk/snes-5060hz-switch-with-lockout-switch/ way better new way: http://www.mmmonkey.co.uk/snes-switchless-modchip/
Does anyone know how far Ikari has gotten with the SuperFX support? Just curious since it has been a while since we last heard from him.
On his main page he offered a brief roadmap and said that Super FX would take at least to the end of 2012. Since 2012 wasn't that long ago I imagine he's still got a ways to go. Plus there is always the odd bug or two. Personally, I'm actually more interested in cheat code support.
