I haven't seen any official updates on sd2snes.de in the last 4 months, he's probably taking it slow, it is a pretty complicated project. It would be nice to get an update or an estimate though.
He stated that he will show something when there is something to show. I wouldn´t be surprised if it takes several months or even a year still.
ikari outlines his road map here. There will be other updates before SuperFX. http://sd2snes.de/blog/archives/289
Can anyone help me answer this? I'm thinking of getting a sd2SNES but i'm new to it and have a question. If updates on the chips eg. FX, SA-1 are available in the future, are they just made usable simply by updating the firmware, or does one have to open up the cart and find the said chips from other original carts and solder them in?
where can SD2SNES be found? I would love to buy an SD2SNES but every re-seller I can find online is currently out of stock. Does anyone know where one can still be purchased? Thanks.
http://www.stoneagegamer.com/flash-carts/super-everdrive-snes-sfc/north-america/ shows deluxe set in stock but the price... yikes. I'd stick with bare board if possible.
I don't know where you see it as in stock, but they are not in stock. As for price, of course not for everyone, but we are not targeting do-it-yourselfers with the Deluxe.
My guess is KRIKzz is out of parts, I have had SD2SNES boards on order for over a month now and they still have no shipped.
my sd2snes was shipped at 26th Feb. i checked krikzz's site from time to time and haven't seen it in stock after that.
I´d be interested in how supercic support is coming along if there is any word on that? Also, would there be any way to access beta versions of firmwares?
Nah, there hasn't really been any official updates for 5 months now. Hopefully it won't be long before we hear something.
This is why I bought the Super Everdrive. To long of a wait for the other board AND I know KRIKzz is still around to support the product. I'm sure there is still SD2SNES support... I just like how KRIKzz is VERY hands on and open about what is going on.
KRIKzz manufactures the SD2SNES. So the long wait on new SD2SNES board stock has nothing to do with Ikari_01. Ikari_01 is just the developer. I mean if we want to be completely fair here, the SD2SNES has gotten more recent updates to the OS than the Super EverDrive has. Of course I am not knocking KRIKzz, but those are the facts. I do agree with people here though, it would be nice to get more updates on the SD2SNES development process, but my guess the reason why we haven't heard of any is because there aren't any major updates to talk about yet. I know Ikari_01 has a regular full time job, so I don't think the SD2SNES is #1 on his priority list. It is open source, would be nice maybe if some other people got in on development.
I know KRIKzz manufactures the SD2SNES. BUT I was talking on 2 points. The SD2SNES not being in stock for months. I mean you just mentioned that you have "boards on order for over a month now and they still have no shipped". AND KRIKzz being around to answer support for his boards directly is my 2nd separate reason. I also understand that Ikari_01 has a full time job and that "SD2SNES is [not] #1 on his priority list" ANOTHER reason to go with Super Everdrive if direct access to the creator is something you like. I'm not blaming or faulting anyone. I just know that KRIKzz is still around giving direct help. Just like how I enjoy buying from SAG because you're here for any help we may need.
the thing i like on SD2SNES is, it is open source. i know only ikari is doing updates now but someone might be interested and we might get additional enhancements chips from another developer. just like third party mappers for powerpak. even if we don't get any updates, i still don't think it is a bad purchase. just cx4 support is worth the price.
The only special chip that would make me buy another board would be Super FX. All other chips are for games I will never play.
