Ikari_01 is on this forum and does sometimes respond to questions, not sure how often he checks it or not. I IMed him last night and he did say he is still working on the SuperFX implementation, its is just taking longer than he expected. So he hasn't fallen off the map.
I've personally emailed ikari and he replied saying that he is indeed still working on the FX chip. here's part of the reply: However, I myself am looking forward to adding more features in the future, after all some important custom chips are still missing! I'm currently still working on SuperFX support. Turned out this thing is a bit more complicated to implement than the DSP1 or Cx4 (although the Cx4 is theoretically more powerful), so I had to take a step back and learn a bit more about digital design on FPGAs. ^^; I hope to have at least a working CPU core within ~1-2 months or so. Looking forward to further updates!! Keep up with the awesome job~!
Nice update. I can imagine it being quite a project to make something work that has never really been done before on the SNES. I wonder why Ikari didn't post this on his blog. I'm glad to know that there's still been good progress on the Super FX support
Yeah, I think more often & detailed updates on the blog would be great. I'm sure many people here would find them very interesting, not to mention it would get people with progress questions off ikari's back while he's putting so much work into the implementation.
Yeah if you think about it, it´s (to my meager understanding anyways) an incredibly complex task to understand something like superfx chip and then replicate what it does with an fpga chip.
well, here's another part of the reply I got from him about why he didn't post stuff about updates: Hi, actually I'm constantly approving and replying to comments (at least to those I have something to contribute to ^^). Thinking about it, since he's working in really small bits, there's really nothing to update on actually.... xD
Man, I had enough of it, I always click on this thread now every two days, just to check if the Super FX is already implemented My snes is collecting dust .... save it Please ... :love_heart:
No reason to let the snes collect dust just because of the lack of superfx. First of all there are thousands of games that you can play with it right now. What kind of games do you prefer, I might have some recommendations for you! Second of all, getting separate superfx cartridges can be cheap enough, you should be able to get almost any game for 30 usd max if you get something like Starfox 2 converted. Some games can be just bought from ebay for pocket change.
Yeah I'm waiting on my Super Everdrive which will NEVER have superfx. I plan to buy the few superfx games I want to play. It will be much cheaper then buying SD2SNES for hopes of superfx in a few months.
unfortunately you can't buy converted starfox 2 for 30 dollars. at least i couldn't find one. it would really be great if you can send the link or someone around here can sell me a starfox 2 for 30$.
I´m not so sure I remember how much exactly I paid for it, might not be $30, may be more like £30... but they certainly can be made cheaper than ebay prices. Depends on how cheap sac cart you can find (stunt race fx is a good candidate) and of course shipping price. I may know someone who might help you out if hes not too busy. I´ll ask and let you know what can be done.
30 GBP is very low for Starfox 2. Prices here fluctuate around 80-100 USD, which is about 50-65 GBP. It's not as simple as just burning a rom, requires a good deal of soldering and such.
I found one on a Belgium site "kapazaa" but the guy didn't reply to me anymore when I told him he could sell me a couple of starfox 2's. and that was for 45€
Sorry for asking but does the SD2SNES support Save States/Load States option cuz i plan on buying it once i own a retroduo portable & Thank You for making such a wonderful device btw
You can save and load games on sd2snes just like you save and load games on real snes cartridges, so playing long rpg/strategy games and such is certainly possible. (You can have saves of different games too at the same time and they do not overwrite each other) You can *not* freely save and load using emulator style savestates, at least I dont know how one would do that, not with current firmware anyways.
Will you guys try to implant that feature very soon because i have a couple of them on my Snes9x Wii & plan on keeping a few until i gotten the device. if so thanks a ton! if not i'll try to deal without it p.s it seem possible on Everdrive MD imo but can only hold one save state/load state at a time.
