I was under the impression that save states in this context are actually a pain in the ass to get to work right. So if it were to happen I can't imagine it coming any time soon. I think more "ordinary" features would likely take precedence such as better software compatibility and Game Genie support.
I'm suddenly having an issue with my SD2SNES where it won't save the time and date (it keeps asking for it when I turn it on). Is this a bad battery or something else? It seems to be saving data just fine though.
Save States on real hardware have a problem unlike emulators in that you *can't* fully save and restore the state of the SNES hardware. Copiers from the past have had varying levels of success with "Real Time Save" features and ultimately it depends on the game being played. Some games will happily let you use Real Time Save features. Others will fail miserably and glitch up or freeze/crash. Emulators though can save their entire state exactly and don't have these issues. I think typically when using real time save features the Copiers have to spy on all register access because alot of registers are write-only. It may even have to spy on the SPC (sound) processor access to try to be able to save and restore its state as well. Either way it'll never work flawlessly like it does with a software emulator.
yeah i've heard some games don't save state properly with the mega everdrive but some work well. i ain't had my mega everdrive long and the only game i played so far on it with state saves is fantastic dizzy which worked really well. i completed it after using multiple save states. save states should be possible on the sd2snes because it has a powerful fpga chip. flash carts with fpga chips have possibility of possible real time save function but ikari is busy with sfx support atm and he has never stated from what i've seen that he is intending on adding save states. it may be that too many games would glitch using save states too make adding the function worthwhile. real time save function used to work ok on my old super wild card snes copier but not with all games.
I still find in game reset back to menu a priority over in game save states! So i can stay in my couch :encouragement:
in-game reset back to menu is useful for going back to menu (as the name implies) and starting a new game without going to the snes and pressing the reset button, so you can have a bigger, larger butt and can die from heart attack at an earlier age.
keep an eye at retrogate.com. it will most possibly be stocked there first. though it was about 2.5 months ago, the last time it was in stock. if i were you, i would set the money aside, check that site daily and buy it as soon as it is in stock. because it usually gets out of stock in a few days.
Firstly, Krikzz is the only person/team making the boards, though a couple places sell them. Word is he is waiting on parts at the moment. Unfortunate that SuperFX has turned out to be far more complicated than ikari imagined. Almost wonder if it would be easier for him to program SA-1. LOL.
Thanks for the advice... its seems like finding GBA M3 Adapter Flash card and this flash card is close to impossible to purchase. I doubt anyone holding on to this flash card are wanting to sell it... if this goes on...the value of the flash card will keep going up!
I threw my M3 GBA card away years ago as the SD slot died - these days I would have just fixed it. But at the time it was too much hassle and they were readily available!
Oh dear god! Seriously??? any link to the ebay webby page? 300 Euro is no joke..... and if those damn fpga doesnt arrive at KRIKzz hands.... SD2NES is going sell more than $500 USD very soon
That's a good idea. Lets speculate that and try to sell our cartridges for a small fortune. Clearly if more stock isn't available soon you'll be able to sell your cartridge for $1000 USD by the end of the month! By the end of the summer I bet you'll be able to get $10,000USD for your SD2SNES cartridge! By the end of the year you'll be able to sell your SD2SNES and buy a brand new Sports Car!
