Doubt it, it's a shame. People were raving up and down about MSU1 and then ikari_01 brings it to life and almost nothing happens! I've seen a couple people inquire about programming for it, but there's nothing out there to guide them. No resources.
Well, that makes sense, since I am using a PAL SNES. But why does it not happen on Super Road Blaster?
Someone I believe added the Sega CD soundtrack to the SNES version of Flashback. I think Byuu or someone was looking to upgrade the soundtrack and maybe add FMVs to Der Langrisser from the 32bit versions. There is certainly potential to add CD quality soundtracks to many games. I think the main reason you don't see a whole lot is because only 1 emulator supports it, which many people don't use. And only one flash cart supports it, which is not cheap and again not as many people use. I've been interested in the SD2SNES for its MSU-1 support but since I own a PowerPAK I can't justify buying the SD2SNES just for that. I am rather disappointed that the PowerPAK was never able to support MSU-1. It's also disappointing that a stand alone version of MSU-1 didn't appear.
I'm no programmer but I'm pretty good at following instructions. If there were some resource out there that could explain exactly how the thing works I might give the FMV insertion thing a shot for Chrono Trigger and/or Mega Man X3. It doesn't sound extremely complicated, at least. But aside from actually ripping the videos from their original source, I have no idea where to start.
If you're not a programmer and don't understand 65816 assembly then you won't be able to do it. I'm not sure how video playing works. Someone has a video player constructed but it's unclear to me how integrating it into an existing game would work. If it's very module like then it should be relatively simple. But if it's designed as a stand alone program that complicates it alot.
Yeah, I really only have a rudimentary understanding of how ROM addresses work. Basically just enough to allow me to create Game Genie codes. I wouldn't mind learning more, though, and using something like this as a proving ground. But, again, it would have to be relatively simple and I'd need a lot of hand holding.
http://helmet.kafuka.org/msu1.htm That's the only page on the Internet with instructions, though it uses byuu's material. I don't think adding a CD soundtrack is extremely difficult. Porting a laserdisc game is another story.
Well if you want to create something I'll try it on my SD2SNES for you. :witless: I like the idea of putting the original music tracks into Rock N Roll racing, unfortunately I have no experience with programming on any level.
There is enough information to easily do the audio tracks. But there is nothing shared about adding FMV. It's hard for me to be interested in creating something I can't use. I know there is an emulator but I'm not sure which version of BSNES or whatever it's called now supports the same MSU-1 as SD2SNES. It's too bad MSU-1 is tied to being included in a flash cartridge and not something separate that could be used with any cartridge. I recall there was supposed to be some reason why the expansion port on the bottom of the SNES was abandoned.
^ here is SMO with fixed music tracks and 2x volume: http://www.mediafire.com/download/dy52rbetwfl8vqa/Super_Mario_Odyssey_2x_vol.rar
Thanks dude, so i assume just upzip the files into the ROM folder of the SD2SNES and it all will work?
http://board.byuu.org/viewtopic.php?f=9&t=3947 This thread on byuu's forum touches a bit on the FMV thing. It certainly isn't as simple as just dropping in an MP4 but what I'm wondering about is how repeatable the procedure is for inserting each video. Like in the case of Chrono Trigger, if someone were to outline how to get one FMV working could anyone follow the same steps for all the others?
