I think you'd be way better off actually just playing the Mega CD version. The SNES version of Final Fight is awful by comparison. Not just because of inferior music.
yeah the megacd version is really better(big sprites, animation, music, 2 players in same time and the time attack mode is verycool).
or just play the arcade version, as that is the best one. i always play the arcade version of this game (emulated) and the incredible nes version.
I hate being that guy who asks but, is there any news about the SD2SNES? It has been more than 10 months since the last update (4 months since the tiny status update) I'm checking this thread daily to see if there has been any news on the matter, I'm just curious if the project has been put on hold?
It's just slow progress. I'm sure ikari has a real job as well as other things to take care of so he doesn't have full time to work on SD2SNES improvements.
Yeah noticed that too. I know people have real life to take care of, which can hinder any updates, etc, yet paying for something such as the sd2snes cart, you would expect them frequently when needed. Small bug fixes where announced from the last post but was in may and still nothing You already paid for updates in my opinion when purchasing the cart in the 1st place, which has put me off buying a $200+ cart.
You must be confused. ikari, the developer for the SD2SNES, doesn't make and sell the SD2SNES. He is certainly not obligated or expected to provide updates. I can understand that mentality when dealing with a company that sells a product, but this is different. Plus you can't expect updates like what people want, which is cloning chips like Super FX and SA-1 with the FPGA. That's why I never recommended anyone buy the SD2SNES on "potential" support for things like Super FX. I'd only recommend they buy it based on what it can do right now, because it may never support those other things.
I think he's getting a cut for every one that Krikzz sells though, so he is still somewhat responsible. I for one bought it because he gave the impression SFX would be possible, not because others said it would.
Super FX is possible. But there is no certainty that support for it will ever be released. It seems like it may really happen sometime. Also, I have no idea if ikari "get's a cut". Even still if he does, he certainly gave no guarantee that Super FX or any other chip would be supported. If you buy SD2SNES, the "potential" for supporting Super FX or other unimplemented chips should be minimized as a reason for buying SD2SNES. You should buy it primarily based on what it can do for you right out of the box. Which is quite alot. MSU-1 support is nice, as well as DSP and Cx4 support.
I Agree I Agree, most of us know that getting the SD2SNES was a risk, but even if it never supports the SuperFX, its a very good piece of hardware, everything loads super fast, and thas a real value itself, the only thing that really disapoints me is the very lack of information on how the work is done over the new features, it could easily never support that chips, and im ok with that, but right now i feel the development is dead since there are too few news on it. In the other side I like very much how krikzz come to the forums and himself answer all questions related to his hardware and i really love the way he keeps in touch with us.
Unless component prices drop drastically for some reason, I can't see prices really dropping much. Even if you look at the ED64plus vs the real EverDrive64, the mass produced Chinese clone rip-off is barely less expensive. There isn't enough of a market for these devices to be produced in the amounts that would cause a significant price drop, in my opinion.
I mean if so, he'll have more money to produce more SD2SNES carts that way! because the more less it costs, the more material or cash that's required he will get. If it ever works out for him cuz right now business is very slow on his side of the bargain.
I don't think its so much about money but these things are all made by hand, and only so many can be made at any one time. As far as I know, only ikari and krikzz are producing these and I'm sure they have other stuff going on in their lives that they can't focus tons of time on production. In addition, ikari develops the software, and krikzz has all his EverDrives and their software, so that only takes more time away. Maybe they could hire people to help assemble larger batches, but I don't think the market is big enough to make that reasonable. I'm pretty sure I read somewhere about some other guy making his own batch, but I don't think he was selling them.
I think he should hire more people too. that way both can have all their free time as much they can! and definitely have much supplies as they need to sell.
ikari is not making them, just krikzz. He pumps them out pretty quickly given the complexity. The only faster way is a complete machine-driven assembly which would cost a fortune.
I got one of the hundred units But I'd be glad if he give us a status if he's working on it, or halted the implementation of new features.
