Thanks for this advice - don't know any of these people tbh, but point me in the right direction and I will start sifting. Is Outrun on AO? I never noticed his name. Might have to do a search. It is Japanese orientated (pun intended), however Grantspain has proved a God send as he does know his cabinets, even woodies. A few of them are Lordsvale fans, but not too many. They tend to be the older guys and mostly from the USA where the Woodies were king for such a long time! Thanks for all of that!
http://s138.photobucket.com/albums/q265/Parris1972/Arcade%20mobo/?action=view¤t=DSC01472.jpg parris it seems that one of the pods is broken in this pic (the seccond one from the right) those pots are used to saturate the colors of the monitor, can you hear something from the speakers ? if the sound is playing i would replace this pod, as its possible its filling the outpup with blue and you cant see other thing on the screen my two cents ...
Ha, thanks Alex, well spotted! I've not even gone through the images yet. I stuck my camera into the cabinet, took a few snaps, uploaded them and haven't really checked them. Thanks for pointing it out, as soon as I viewed the image it stood out. I've had visitors this weekend and I've not had a chance to go anywhere near the cabinet since I last posted images and details. I'm itching to pull the thing apart and get at it!
thats the first thing i allways do : take pics of the hardware my new toy : http://serantes.evul.net/typex2pic.jpg
you are going to laught about me but i plan to run mame on it got other games : kof ra1 (currenty on sale), battle fantasia and sf4 (yes sf4)
You mean pots ;-) = potentiometer. Not necessarily. You can get skeleton pots. Does look a bit odd, though! Maybe someone replaced it and that's all they had? I dunno. It could just be broken. Nah, they're all on www.jammaplus.co.uk - that's where you want to be. They all have woodies. (The cabs, before Barc0de pipes up again  ) I'm really surprised you don't know the site! Good people, favour the oldies and I did mention it on KC several times ;-)
It's an MTC (I checked the manual) 900, and the black and white image in the manual seems to show the particular component in question should look like the others, so either it is broken or as you suggest a rather odd looking replacement. I haven't stumbled across jammaplus, I'll have to look now. LOL @ BC and Woodies ;-)
Yeah, that's what I suspected. I've seen references to MC900 before but I'm not sure if it is a misprint or what, quite. The only thing that makes me think its right is that EURAS have it listed on their site (with your fault ;-)). I'm very familiar with the MTC900. I've had a number of troublesome ones! On second glance, that pot does look broken. If it's a skeleton, it should have a + in the middle, i.e. a screwdriver hole. Doesn't look like it has. Do take a look. Ask in the tech section. If you can't register or have some problem like that, let me know and I'll post a subject for you.
I posted a topic in the tech section for ya over on Jammaplus. ;-) The forum does use BBCode so you should be able to use the tags as you would here. That said, it has a system that actually posts the image in as you type, so you should see it appear before posting. Maybe there's a size limit as you said.
Thanks for that, you'll have to let me know how it goes. I am certain it is the image limitation as I can't get any images posted up, doing as I would here or otherwise. I saw their 'image link' icon and 'hyperlink' icons and decided to try and circumnavigate the issue, but it just threw up another issue. As it came back with 'image no longer available or moved' (and it's not), I suspected that the site was unable to handle the quality / size of image I tend to use. Thanks for letting me know ;-)
Well, the first reply suggested that the pot is fine, just a different kind as I said. Someone just asked if you get a sound when you coin up. They think it's a board problem. I've asked if it's possible to build a JAMMA harness for it. Why are you never on MSN any more? :110:
oh lord that moniter needs some TLC. Blue screen of death might be an early build of windows. win '85
Right, the unit is not coining up, so frankly I think we are talking 'goosed' from all angles. Might be cheaper to gut the cabinet and present my own punch and judy show through the monitor slot. Bugger! OH: This is the first chance I've been able to go into the garage and check. 1) Blue/light blue flashing screen 2) Audio only on L channel, white noise, more like a whine at full volume 3) No coin up noise 4) damn you eBay and your spares / repair auctions! Oh, and I am basically trying to keep my online activity to a minimum. Only been on so much recently as the kids are on holiday and eldest is off college, which means I am 'off' too! Yay!
He didn't. That's the point - it was sold as not working, up to the buyer to fix. Parris, I'd keep at it! I'll see if we can get pinouts to make a JAMMA harness.
No worries. There are two members of Jammaplus who have already owned this cab, by the way! When you get enough posts: http://www.jammaplus.co.uk/forum/forum_posts.asp?TID=11712&KW=hang+on I spoke to Out Run and Smythe, who has a Hang On sit-down. Here's their contribution: <Outrun> retro: they are IDC connectors <Outrun> well you can wire video and power which is enough to test <retro> what pins carry video and power? <smythe> the smallest connectors <smythe> will be yellow and white wires iirc <smythe> yellow is 5v white is gnd iirc <smythe> just remembered hangon has 4 5v connectors <smythe> 2 for the audio boards ???!!!??? So basically, test the PSU output, then suspect the board.
Righty O! Superb, although the lack of coin-up audio might be the more immediate guide until I get into the cab properly.
The audio uses an amp, that could have gone. I'd imagine it is either a power fault (check that first) or a board fault. As I said over on the other forum, I can probably help out with a harness once I have worked out the finer details...
