I did mean graphically. Scud Race would be awesome on consoles today, It's just slowly being emulated though. I would buy the game if it came out in this generation.
3D controller no, steering wheel yes. For me the graphic frame rate ruined the controls as well as I spend most of my time floundering about trying to straighten up the car as it judders about the track.
Actually, it does support the 3D controller...well, sort of, the game thinks it's the steering wheel but it does work.
Interesting, I was watching calssic game room HD (youtube inecomcompany) and the guy said the D-pad works but not the stick. I don't have the 3D controller myself, I only have the model one breeze block pad. :crying: What were they thinking!
How about a Sega Rally/Rally 2/Daytona/Daytona 2/Scud Race collection Release it with an LE Steering wheel and Sega can print money
They just released a new version last week, I think. It now has sound as well as support for controllers. It seems like the performance is improved, too.
Or maybe they will follow a similar route as the one they took with Sega Rally (or Revo as it's called in the US I believe ?), but for the Daytona series, and kind of revamp it with the same control style, more cars, updated looks and different circuits in the same kind of environments. Notice how on that Australian rating website the game is simply mentioned as Daytona USA. Maybe it's just a working title but it could also indicate that they are meaning to have a fresh start for the franchise ? I do remember it being actually very hard. I thought there was more than one but it must be my memory playing tricks on me. I'd like to know about that extra circuit as well, there's not much mention of it anywhere online (apart from one line in the wikipedia page, I could've checked that before asking about it like an idiot), so I guess there is really not a lot of info you can find about it unless there is something in the pc version of the game itself that may tell us where this extra track originated from...
Now that I think about it, wasn't Daytona USA Deluxe/Evolution made by a section within Sega's dedicated PC division rather than the original Saturn edition's creators? The same group also supposedly did a port of NiGHTS, which featured two new stages (despite this version being cancelled, we know about one - a level called Sparkle Attic that is believed to have included toys coming to life). I'm guessing that Silver Ocean Causeway was the work of this unit rather than AM2 or the Sega Rally conversion team, but I honestly don't know for certain... like so many projects from this era, a lot of facts have yet to be determined!
That fucking supermodel emulator has a grudge against my graphics card (Radeon 9800xt) lol. Can't even get the damn thing to display anything at all, I've also tried the ATI fix the guy posted on his site as well. Damn
I forgot how awful the music in Scud Race is, though. You don't really pay much attention to it in the arcade.
heh. Its comming out for xbox for sure. Yes people are dumb and leak, at least there isn't a video up for it (atleast running on an xbox). But I can confirm it is comming to xbox.
Guess the nascrap rednecks finally ran out of cash and decided to go a little easier on Sega. But I dont think Sega's going to make a lot of money with this These days its all about simulation, and being able to drive some obscure little Datsun in nurburgring.
Although Daytona USA is a good game, these days 3 tracks is not enough. It needs to be Daytona 1 & 2, or include Scud Race or something. OR make a Daytona 1 port dirt cheap. I want to see the game released, but I don't want to be robbed. Also I expect it to be stripped of Daytona stuff (due to licensing) so it will probably be Sega Racing Classic version. Which probably means no horse racing. Damn. And no Daytona 2 ever.
If they only release Daytona 1, with wheel support, online for 12 people, leaderboards, it will sell. I wouldn't mind a compilation too though. But to be honest, Sega doesn't seem to like money...
With current Sega, you just gotta ask yourself "What would be the laziest, most half-assed way to re-release this old game?" because that's what they'll do every time.
