Ok, many fanboys will hate but man that trailer wasn't that exciting. Many years have passed, many games with simmilar mechanics have been released and i think Yu Suzuki has a very difficulat task to deliver a proper game (no pressure!). I don't think it would be a flop like Duke Nukem Forever but watching that trailer made me feel weird. Very nostalgic but at the same time kinda worry that it will fail to deliver. Discuss! Keep the conversation civilized
As much as i wish this is becoming reality, i have a bad feel about it. 2.000.000 $ seems a bit optimistic as production value for a game like this. But surely they will raise lots more ...... .
Well i don't think that will cost only that, i think it is a promotion to get the word out with a bang. The hype is overwhelming and history has proven that behind big hype, mediocre games hide!
I'm really glad that they announced it, finally. One thing I found strange about the trailer is Ryo's voice. Not like the original English voice actor was all that great, but the voice in the trailer doesn't even make sense for the character. He sounds like an older man, and Ryo is supposed to be a teenager. That makes no sense. Hopefully the voice is just a placeholder or something.
A multi million dollar company asking for money the make a game, yet still ask their user base to fund projects out of their own pockets and then buy the game after. If it was a paid alpha/beta people would've went nuts.
A lot of people are speculating that the Kickstarter is a way to gauge interest, and since the only console it will be on is PS4 they're figuring Sony has a deal to help fund them if they make the goal. EDIT: As for my thoughts on the matter, well I wasn't really impressed with the VA'ing either, and the character models seem to be a little rigid and awkward, but hopefully they'll improve on that. Either way, I don't care, I'm in it for story.
I can see that being a possibility, but really? It just feels as if they're like "We are not going to release the game unless you're willing to pay us first to start developing the game, even though everyone has made it clear that they want it"
Don't get me wrong I'm amazed after all this time that's its finally becoming a thing, I just feel they went about it the wrong way that's all.
I'm not giving to this for the same reason I didn't do bloodstained. The game is coming regardless of If I give them money 2 years in advance or not.
I backed it. 30USD gets you the game as a digital download too. Well worth it. This kind of thing allows gamers to put their money where their mouth is. Great idea.
I gave $5 to Mighty no 9 and all I got was my name in the credits.........not even my real name either. It bothers me that only the PC version is getting a physical copy. I hope this changes as time goes on.
Some of the VAs involved are actually VAs that were part of the cast of the two previous games. I know this, because a friend of mine is involved in it and she did provide voices and the like for the previous two titles. I'm pretty sure the current VO samples are placeholder examples because there's been no full blown recording sessions and that wouldn't happen until everything was funded for it properly.
Wow lots of hate going on! Just be thankful it's even happening at all after all this time and whilst it doesn't look the most advance game out there the charm of the originals was in the new 'trailer' (least I thought so anyway) Not sure why there isn't a physical copy for the PS4 either me and my friend were having this discussion earlier. Personally I think they should remake the first two in the new engine as well and put them in with the 3rd as a 'complete collection' if you will. It would be a great way to introduce new gamers who haven't played the old ones into the series and give fans the much requested HD versions.
However Yu Suzuki's own studio is not a multi million dollar company. And seeing that Shenmue 1 & 2 didn't sell that well, it's not that weird (especially in the current videogame economy) that publishers aren't that eager to jump on financing this franchise. I guess the lack of SEGA branding on this project has to do with the fact that they don't want to be associated with crowd funding?
