I think you got it the wrong way around. Someone seems to be "stoking the flames" simply because someone didn't like it (It being the game) ;D Read previous comment + past post(s) mentioning stuff such as community contribution and planning. That last part of your post there may not have been directed to me, but it sounded like it when tied up to the rest of your post (by directly addressing me and such). Dunno what to make out of it, but just read my previous posts and comments in this thread ;D
I wasn't saying we shouldn't do that - I was saying let's get the ball rolling. But whatever. I'm still having fun with it.
No one get it working on a Game Doctor or SWC yet? I thought the idea for public release was about what you had suggested as being a coupe weeks. Doesn't matter to me.
I (and presumably some others) don't have a problem with the watermarking. I just have a little problem with the fact that noone bothered to let us know that such watermarking took place. Had someone not found out about it, we would still be thinking we have clean dumps. Why create confusion like that? And for the record, I see a lot of replies along the lines of 'I don't have a problem with X, I don't see what all the fuss about X is'. Some people donated to play the game, some donated to make this public. Just because you belong in one group doesn't mean the other one doesn't exist, etc. I think we should all take a lesson from this for future releases -- plan things ahead, to avoid confusion, and misunderstanding. Which is why I don't get people who shout 'drama'. There is no drama. A problem occured, and there is healthy discussion to solve the problem and (hopefully) a lesson learned. Isn't that good?
I don't mind how shitty a game is *cough* Sonic X-treme demo *cough*. I'm all for the preserving and releasing of rare content that should've been destroyed.
Amen to that! And thanks for including me in the list of donators..although my donation never came I'm afraid despite my initial intentions. So no credit deserved here. Needless to say I haven't pmed whoever for the rom!
I say release in next weekend and let's stop pissing and whining about the game or the dumpers. We paid for a public release of an unreleased game - a curiousity. It's good they honored the exclusivity period, but it's not that important and this thing out in the wild is the ultimate aim. I really don't understand Carnivol's reaction to this game or the posts he is putting out here.
Since people seem to have a knack for just posting without reading back a few pages or just like me don't seem to grasp every single human being's train of thought, I shall once again repeat what this was. Hopefully enlightening those remaining few who didn't read (or simply didn't grasp) the initial post that somehow triggered this stupidity: -I said I didn't really find this game as great as quite a lot of people seemed to. This followed by a short impression of the game. Not too different from what other people who'd received the rom had already done. The response was: -People somehow taking that as a personal insult in a "You pissed on our religious believes"-type of way.
Well, for the record, I haven't even requested the ROM yet, because I don't want to accidentally send someone my watermarked copy and have an extra file pop up in GoodSNES or whatever. Something similar happened when I leaked out California Raisins, I don't want it to happen again. So, for the sake of me wanting to play the game, I would also like to chime in and ask that we distribute this thing soon! I don't trust my organizational skills, I want the clean ROM.
I agree. I certainly don't want us to sit around too long. I think now is a good time to release it. Then everyone should be happy yes?
I'm pretty sure I know what the "watermark" was and already removed it for myself. Though without having another ROM I can't verify that. I'm still interested in if anyone has managed to run the game on a Copier. Specifically the Game Doctor SF series.
