Well for any of you following the Nightmar Busters thread Simon has seemed a bit willing to dump this game. While understandablly approval of a fundraiser is the mods decision. Does anyone else have interest in this? I definitely do as it looks like a truly awesome game. Especailly in the graphics department
I'd be willing to pitch in. SNES isn't normally my thing, but it looked fun from the videos. Being a complete game is a big plus too.
I'm interested, I can also dump and return the cart if you can find nobody closer to home (I'm in the UK). References available on request.
As I don't have the media, nor control of it or the money, and simon is a new user, I am not going to get involved in this. If you do anything it will have to be on your own. Not to insult any of the parties involved, but I'm not going to raise money blindly.
The Other issue here is this isnt here for everyone who decides they want to buy a proto and then turn out and say "how about you all give me 90% of my money and ill keep the original". In some cases sure its good for everyone but i dont like the idea of people buying items and then turning around on it to make their money back.
Paulo: Niels (simon_belmont) has never done anything like that before. (Sold a proto for dumping to make his money back on it). Niels has a point, though. When a game is dumped an available, the value drops tremendously. If he dumps it for 50% of the value (400$), he still has $400 invested in it, and from my experience, SNES unreleased protos that are dumped selling for $400 is highly unlikely. There are 3-4 copies of Bobby's World, another unreleased platformer out there, and I would be very surprised if those ever sell for $200 even these days... I will personally vouch for simon_belmont myself, he is an excellent trader who has been collecting protos among other things for quite some time.
I don't see anything wrong with compensating Simon for the full amount of cash he spent on the proto. Comes down to how bad do you want it? I would also add, we suggested to him that he dump it, not the other way around.
To make things clear, I never offered to dump it myself, I have never dumped any of my unreleased games. People kept asking so I told them I want to do it if I get a part of the investment back. Including shipping I paid almost $ 900,- Still that was a steal for such an unique unreleased game, this is not a game that was so bad they did not release, this is one of the best an most playable snes games, it even has a 2 player cooperative mode and it is 99% completed. I am sure I can sell this now for $ 1500,- or more because it is the only known proto in the world, but I just dont want to sell it right now it's one of the items I like most in my collection.
The only existing copy in the World? You see, dumping would prevent it from loosing it in future. Its easy to dump a snes game! With 70$ you can get a cheap GDSF7 from tototek or even theyr flash card (i would suggest you to use the first one rather than the second). If you had $900 for the game, well $70 shouldnt really make the difference, shouldnt it? Also, once you dump it for yourself you can decide if releasing on your own.
Kammedo is right. Simon if I were you I would dump the rom and keep it myself if you dont want to release it. That way if the cart gets damaged or fails in the future you still have the only rom ^^
Well i think its more desirable than that crappy sonic extreme demo that was done, thats not even worth playing, only interesting from a historic point of view & thats been generous, apart from running around thats pretty much it & people were pissing themselves like it was the second coming of christ.
