Homer: I thought...the cop...was a prostitute. Chalmers: An Aurora Borealis. In this part of the country. At this time of day. Totally contained within your kitchen?
Marge: Homer, the plant called. They said if you don't show up tomorrow don't bother showing up on Monday. Homer: Woo-hoo. Four-day weekend. And of course: Mr. Burns: Smithers, I'm thinking about donating some money to the orphanage... when pigs fly! (Both laugh and then Homer's bbq pig flies past the window)
homer: hello, my name is mr. burns. I belive you have a letter for me. postman: ok, what's your first name? homer: ...I don't know. bumbleebee guy: Ay, ay, ay! Es Homer Simpson. Me ha molestado! Oh!
Ralph: I dress myself! Homer: Lord, as a show of my appreciation, I've brougth you these cookies and milk. If you want me to eat them for you, show me absolutely no sign. [waits]. Thy will be done." [eats cookies]. Kent Brockman: The unemeployment office is no longer a place just for philosphy majors. Real people are feeling the pinch. Kent Brockman: Some people say your men are the ones actually comitting the crimes. Homer: Well I'd be lying if I said my men weren't comitting crimes. Kent Brockman: ... touche'.
Actually familly guy copied the formula of the simpsons and introduced their own humor and story telling formula to the mix, wich is a mix of quick and random humor with a light story that evolves and change very quickly, Wich made a good cartoon if you like the humor (like i do). The problem is that the simpsons copied the story telling formula of the familly guy, wich went from story charged and propulsed episode that made the simpson's world stronger and richer at each show to anectdotic stupitidies mixed together to make "a story" in a episode mixed with some known stars, wich doesnt fit the simpsons original satire of the american family, humor and world at all. Wich is the biggest problem with the new episodes. They seem to go nowhere, they dont make the world of the simpson's universe deeper either. I just hope they finish it quickly so that it will still be considered a cult show, and not a mediocre one like its seems to be heading. The best of the simpsons is near season 6-7-8 and now they are at...what? season 14?
The simpsons are on season 17. It started sucking on season 13, in my opinion, but there seem to be some good episodes even after that. Many episodes I've seen both in English and Spanish... I consider it one of the few shows where the dubbed version is excellent too... that is until most of the mexican voice talent was fired and "cloned". This seemed to happen at the same time the show started sucking, though. Family Guy, specially season four and beyond, is vastly superior to the current Simpsons episodes. As Milhouse would say "It started like Romeo and Juliet... but it ended in Tragedy"
I've heard that last couple of seasons have gotten a lot better, 15 and 16 or whatever. I stopped watching around season 12 because the storylines seemed a bit too forced. I'm going to get the recent ones tho....the people who said they were good agreed that the few seasons before that were crap. "But reckless spending and interracial homoeroticism were just volume 1 of The Encyclopeida Self Destructica."
I think some of the best chapters were from seasons 2 to 5, then everything that came after that was bad to say the least. The last 3 or 4 seasons have improved a little, but nothing like the old days. Anyway, I say the best mature animation out there is american dad and drawn together. Homer: bye flanders [shoot] Bart: homer you just shoot zombie flanders! Homer: uh, it was a zombie?
Season 5-9 are considered "the golden years" of the Simpsons. Not sure exactly which, but Conan O'Brien was a writer back then. I hear staff from that era are going to be working on the script for the movie.
Gaijin right about the golden years. Season 1 was a bit slow but very story based. Season 2 the pace was picking up, then season 3 they were on there way to classic. But was funny was orignaly bart was mostly the focus, then it shifted to homer. Most of the old timers are coming back for this one, but im not having my hopes high on the movie, it really should have been done years ago. I think that due to some writers leaving and having to come up with 22+ episode just drained them. I mean after phill hartmens death, they could not do another troy maclure or lionle hutz story ever again. Then the jokes seemed to get extermely forced and the character voice now seem a bit off and unautural. Also the show ended up becoming alot less realistic and just strayed a bit from their way of doing a realistic family satire. I really dont even know what season it was till they started doing off the wall stuff. The point is like seinfield they should have stoped at its prime. But im guessing do to futurama bombing on fox mat groening wasnt exactly ready to end it just yet.
Once I saw the show where Homer killed Maude I started to lose interest, I think. It just wasn't a very good show at all. If you get the DVD you should check out the commentary. They remember who wrote which jokes and the stories behind them. Conan was the one who came up with moving the radio dial to the other side to save Homer in his Mr. Plow vehicle as it was about to go over the edge. MR. SPARKLE!
American dad is Awesome! Somehow, though, it isn't broadcast on the latin american version of fox anymore... maybe because it's between seasons. Let's hope they don't try to dub it like they did with Family Guy. That dub was piss poor. Now about the Simpsons movie. THere's trailers out there and everything. I read somewhere that the "Kamp Krusty" episode was originally planned as a movie, but eventually scrapped. "The Krusty seal of quality: It's not just good, it's good enough!"
1 "In this house, we obey the laws of thermodynamics!!" (When Lisa built a perpetual motion machine) 2 "I've learned that life is one crushing defeat after another until you just wish Flanders was dead. " 3 "Remember when I took that home winemaking course, and I forgot how to drive? "
i wish they had finished the serie with about 10 seasons and the writers of the golden era, the serie would have made a tight cult serie im sure, and they wouldnt feel the need to make a movie and all but i guess money and fox wanted otherwise. You also cannot make about 10 seasons of a show, come up with with the writers before these 10 seasons to make a film and do like nothing happened, they'll need to go with how the show turned out, they can't just scrap those seasons and return to the old formulas. The movie will also try to show every characters in their best days since it will be the grande finale, so its already another bad point. that's where they started to shift to the "familly guy" type of story telling, i think it doesnt fit the simpsons well at all and destroyed the concept behind the whole serie.
Homer: I'm not insane, I have this! (holds up a piece of paper with SANE stamped on it. This was from the episode where Michael Jackson voiced a big crazy fat guy who thought he WAS Michael Jackson. One of the guys who was watching it with me wasnt paying attention to the story and thought that guy WAS Michael Jackson. Another quote from this guy would be: "They made him look gay." Memories...
