Killing off second hand games is just a recipe for disaster. It'll cost Thousands of people their jobs Plus game trades usually help me when I want to buy teh new gamez.

    Guardian Heroes isn't bad either.

Reason I brought Sega up though was they were the last true innovators. Nintendo relies too much on gimmocks that 3rd Partys ignore, Sony loves to remove features from it's Hardware, and If this rumor is True, Micorsoft no longer knows what they're doing.

All that= Me very jadded gamer.

Also....I bought a Saturn a few days after Christmas so yeah...

I didn't realize it when I was a kid, but dammit I miss SEGA. Fun and unique games, great and reliable hardware, pretty much everything we're missing from today's consoles.

Fuck Nintendo for introducing motion gaming and for milking their franchises to death. Fuck Sony for removing shit from a machine I already purchased and for their anti-consumer tactics. Fuck Microsoft for their faulty hardware, forgetting how to make good exclusives, and for shoving Kinect down our throats. If this gen was any indication, things are not looking good for the future.

I think right now, we need SEGA. Imagine the Dreamcast 2 launching with Shenmue 3 and having games such as Phantasy Star 5, Skies of Arcadia 2, Guardian Heroes 2, Valkyria Chronicles 4, and the list goes on. I'll gladly purchase a new SEGA console over the Pii U, 720, and PS4 any day. If only SEGA would take one more chance...

Oh... whoops. Somehow I missed that.

Anyway, I think next-gen consoles ought to use x86 CPUs. i7's are incredibly fast compared to almost anything else on the market right now. I haven't really been following PPC, but aside from professional applications I don't think IBM can really compete with what Intel is doing in the consumer market. Plus, it should theoretically be easier to program for an x86-based console if the programmer is used to writing Windows, Linux, or even Mac programs. Aside from PPC, what other options are there? ARM? I would find it a bit ridiculous if we had an ARM-based console.

Plus, you'd think Microsoft would want to work with Intel, considering how much they depend on each other. The original Xbox used what was basically a Pentium 3, if you recall.

Sega can't come back because most of the genres the Dreamcast was big for are dead in the eyes of developers. Only FPS games like Call of Duty will survive. I can't tell you how many times I've been in gamestop and had kids come in and call every other game in the store gay and grab a copy of the latest Call of Duty game. They don't know anything else. They don't know what it's like to venture on your own in a game store and grab something that looks cool that you've never heard of and just giving a shot. If you don't have millions to spend on marketing then it's not going to get anywhere.

I wouldnt ever do that. What happens if you get a stinker of a game? You have to take it back asap. I always do research (and by research I mean gameplay videos and then I can usually tell if I like it, fuck "reviewers")

I meant like Blockbuster. I wouldn't have played any of the great non-AAA titles that I have in the past 20 years without taking risks. Most were chosen by the front and back covers.

But you have to understand that companies stopped caring about their fanbase ages ago. It's just about appealing to a more diverse audience for more profits. Notice all the FPS clones and family junk that has came out recently. I don't know anyone besides myself and my closest friend that plays games besides Call of Duty, Gears of War, GTA, Saints Row, Battlefield etc so I base my opinions off my own personal experience and what the sales show.

I sometimes buy games that I haven't heard much about, just because it's a sequel or spinoff of a game I like, or because it's made by a company I like, or because I like the pictures on the back. Whatever. That's when I'm buying $5-6 games. When I buy $50 or $60 games it's usually because I've been reading about it for months and watching tons of videos about it, and probably playing it in some form.

You don't think that game reviewers like IGN and Metacritic don't get paid off? Have you looked at the Review Score and User Score lately? I remember Dragon Age 2; The review score was 9/10 and the User Score was 2.5/10 or something.

You know second hand games are a big issue for game companies when even people outside the industry are talking about it.

And you know how it goes: they release it, everybody talks shit about it for a while, then its all forgotten, the new Call of Potty comes out and every shithead that cant figure out how to get a rig and install the game gets the console and the game despite the fact they cant resell it.

About Sega, now that SNK is launching this mini console I think there is a very remote possibility that Sega may try something with hardware, but then again the odds are very low.

And shenmue 3? right now theres a higher possibility that jesus and elvis come back for fries at the in-n-out Burger than Sega forking the $100 millions that would take to make shenmue 3.

Right. That's why I also watch videos and often play demos of games before I buy them.

I'd take that information with a grain of salt.

My statement still stands. REAL games are still made and still sell well.

Somewhat crude way of putting it, but I agree. I've seen plenty of "gay" looking games that are actually fun and/or original. Tales of Graces F has one of the worst covers I've seen for a jrpg, and it's sad to know that some annoying little shit is going to look at the game at GameStop and say, with a whiny high pitched voice, "Why is it so pink and girly? This game is so gay! Why are Japanese games so gay? Oh well, time to waste my parents money on yet another generic FPS that's nearly identical to the previous one!"

I remember a time when you'd go to a video game rental place and use that rental to find something new. Part of the fun was trying something you normally wouldn't spend much money on and seeing if it was interesting. If it sucked, you didn't buy it and moved on to something else. If was good, you'd buy it later when you had more money and you would be on the lookout for any sequels or similar games in the future. Ah memories...

i don't miss Sega as a hardware manufacturer, as i wouldn't miss Sony or Nintendo or Microsoft, or anyone else.

I miss good developers old Square, old Enix, Sunsoft, factor 5, SNk ecc ecc.

now it's all became a colorless blob where developers seems to have lost the will to try, research and innovate.

Damn, treasure of the rudras is way more advanced than 99% of the games around now in either, gameplay, story, battle, characters... Games that were open ended like SaGa has been bashed for years, and the comes out an half-shooter-walk-around-with-slight-rpg-traits (fallout) and all the world starts prasing teh vast map, extra place to explore, non linearity? :D

and in the end people flock buying rail games like ff13...

I must say i feel like a player from another age.

It's because some developers pay for those scores.. Users will always be more honest.. Not like I go to IGN or Gamespot for reviews.. sigh.

Personally SEGA might rise from the ashes and create a system much like Nintendo did with the NES, I know that's ages ago and things were a little different but just look at our games today many of them fail to impress. I guess what I just said is kinda like asking Atari to make consoles again..

SEGA's games today should mainly consist of AM2 Model 3 games released in stores, not digital downloads.. Of course it's not really a market for the current generation gamers but retro gamers will go for it.

Out of all my friends I'm the only retro guy everyone plays Playstation and 360 so, introducing them to older games works.

You seriously believe the user scores? Fanboys spam them with 1/10s or 10/10s before the games are even released.

Yeah, if it's part of some devious scheme to get Sega to go bankrupt. In the real world that's not a very good idea.

ROFL, yeah yet the paid reviewers somewhat do the same. I actually didn't mean I go to these sites and believe the scores. How I should of said it was "I believe user scores else were".. Sorry for the confusing text above ><
