But all that and more is exactly why right now I'm a pretty jadded gamer. The FPS, and Casual games are infesting gaming now and any good games in classic genre's are either ignored or half ass OR loaded with unwanted DLC.

It's sad because there are games out there that try to innovate and do something original, but nobody buys them. Resonance of Fate was a very unique game and I can definitely say that there is no (J)RPG quite like it. Of course, a sequel likely wont happen because people decided to purchase FF13 instead and ignore the game that dared to be different. Who wants originality and innovation when you can have pretty graphics and... not much else?

And at this rate, it's only going to get worse.:crying:

 

But the thing is when Sega hardware went down so did most of the studios that made the games.

Those games didn't do well in other consoles because people with that consoles didnt like those games: the average halo player wouldnt even try JSRF

And no Sega wont make something as big as the Nes, right now it would be a miracle if they launched a branded version of that chinese android console/tablet.

 

I think indie Devs need their own platform. It's the only way to preserve gaming as we knew it.

Windows is Decent enough but a dedicated box, Open source just for indie games would be a beautiful thing.

The Pandora shows a TON of promise but I can't find one ANYWHERE or anyword on how to obtain one.

 

You can only get the Pandora from their website. It's also really expensive, since they're all hand-made and most of the parts are made in the UK.
As far as distribution goes, not exactly the best choice for a platform for indie games.

 

The pandora was a disaster that somehow made it to the factory.

I do recognize that achievement, but honestly I dont know how they made it so far which such bad hardware and design

As if FFXIII is a cookie cutter cut and paste game.

You sound as if you have never even played the game.
Because the battle system and character progression and paradigms are completely original and innovative. Not to mention the world setting of Gran Pulse and Cocoon. There is also not a single game out there that has as many 1080p FMV's integrated with the game as it.

XD, I like Xbox, not because theyre games, but because of it realy is just a PC. I dream of running Linux and Windows on the X1 and X360 one day. (Not some dosbox or CE btw.)

Hating a console for the guts in it is stupid, the Saturn had terrible components but some of the best games ever, how you feel about it?

Ironically that crap about hardware is 24/7 fare at...........wait for it........PC forums!

 

I can't speak for everyone else, but I don't hate mainstream games. Just the majority of them.
