Plenty people would care because not everyone is jaded, Congrats on playing a 10 year old game with a bad port and being underwhelmed.
It isn't as polished gameplay-wise as SA2:B but SAX (and its PC counterpart on which the ports will be based I believe) was far from a broken game. I had tons of fun with it and although I like the replayability of SA2's levels, I love the first game all the same. Maybe it's nostalgia but I don't care. I wouldn t re-buy the game though, I have the disc right next to me;p
I agree absolutely. It failed to be a Sonic game, and failed to ape the vastly superior Mario 64 released years before. I felt Sonic Adventure 2 was getting closer to what I expected of Sonic 3D, but by then it was too late. I found it very odd, considering how many great games Sega released in the period in 3D. I guess Sonic Team was the real problem.
I saw it a few weeks ago, im stoked for when its done i thought sonic transitiond well into 3d on dreamcast and i enjoyed them, then sonic heroes came out :/
That's it, trot out another meaningless platitude. My enthusiasm for games is alive and well, but any enthusiasm I had for Sonic Adventure disappeared after I'd actually played it. I appreciate there are now adults around for whom Sonic Adventure was their first video game. I can understand why they would think it's great, I've got similar vices from when I was a kid. People who were experienced adult gamers when it was released, though, should know better - it's a buggy mess that completely fails to deliver on the promise of a Sonic game.
It may not be good by Sonic standards, but it certainly isn't a "bad game". I m not versed in the DC version, as I got it on the GC years later and it was a fun play-through while it lasted. Back in the 80/90s we ve all played much more broken games and enjoyed them
I'm not buying it because I have Sonic Adventure International on my DC which through VGA looks just as good at the version you'll be seeing on the 360. Sega should bring out their arcade classics on the 360, not DC ports. Where is daytona, Scud Racer, Sega GT and so on. Come on guys, give us arcade ports.
PDS is a candidate for a remake but that's apparently a bit hard to do since the source is allegedly obliviated:banghead:
You need to teach me that trick of getting 1080p out of your VGA box With you on the arcade ports, though - even though it's a hopeless case, of course. Sonic Adventure will sell more than all of them would put together.
I'm undecided on whether I think it is truly bad or not. It does have a special place for me- I loved Sonic and I was so excited about its release, its unreal. I do have a copy, and I do enjoy a quick blast on the Sonic stages now and again.. its an important mark in gaming history but SA2 is how it should have been and it has been surpassed many times over since it's release.
Even at 640x480 VGA the DC still looks just as hot as some of the Xbox live stuff. Marvel Vs Capcom is 720p on XBOX Live yet doesn't look any better than the DC through VGA plus it's got all the characters unlocked. Way to go Capcom . Soul Calibur is another and again missing the quest mode:banghead: . Ikaruga looks slightly better, maybe but still not worth shelling out for. Thsi is why I think Sonic Adventure on XBOX live won't be much if any better than the original running through VGA. Well, that is unless they re-do all the textures but I doubt that. It is true that Sonic Adventure probably would out sell any arcade conversion. Sad, isn't it :-(
Sonic adventure is a pretty cool game .so they re-release it on xbox live its just sega up to there dirty old sonic tricks putting out the same game over and over again its still not a true release its just a download.and if its not as good as the dreamcast origanal i say GOOD.
So what are Sonic standards? All I can see is four really good 2D games on the MegaDrive and then tons of other games ranging from good to downright craptastic. But can we please not get that involved?I loved Sonic Adventure 1 much more than Sonic Adventure 2.It was much less fustrating and at least you will have fun playing it.And honestly I never found anything wrong with the DX version. It's the same game with a few bug fixes,a few minigames and a bit better looking, although out of place, models on the main characters. That's about it... This game played so much better on the dreamcast controller though.
Fast action and raw speed. Not this slow paced start-stop nonsense - whoops I hit a wall, run forwards a few yards, get fucked over by the hateful, wayward camera system for the umpteenth time, repeat ad nauseam. Not sitting around fishing with that fat purple sack of shit. What is that doing in a Sonic game, anyway? Who thought that was a good idea?
The Japanese. Need I say more? You're just lucky they didn't include a mandatory horse racing or pachinko playing segment.
if it's based on DX, which I think it will be, then it will look better/different by default compared to the DC version. See the PC version, released in Japan, for reference as to what it will look like.
