If they took the time to add the polish that it so sorely needs, it could be pretty good. As it stands it is a ghastly mess that has aged terribly. They should be ashamed that they are rereleasing this wretched game in the same sorry state we played it ten years ago.
Sonic Adventure released on Xbox Live Marketplace - http://seganerds.thekartel.com/blog/2010/09/15/sonic_adventure_released_on_xbox_live_marketplace 720p? 5.1 surround sound? Are they trying to put DC's Vga/ Sound chip to shame when they were bragging themselves back in 1998? Is this their way of celebrating Dreamcasts birthday!? WTF? I'm so not buying this trash (I don't own an Xbox360 either LMAO). I would rather buy another copy of the original game for the Dreamcast and collect dupes on the shelves than downloading this *digital* fuck. IGN veredict: BAD = 3.5 Rating Source: http://uk.xbox360.ign.com/objects/076/076865.html So SEGA, how do you justify this, huh??
That just shows how SEGA deserves everything that happened to them. They always make BAD decisions. They didn't even bothered to add 16:9 support.
But wait, there's more! http://blogs.sega.com/usa/2010/09/15/sonic-adventure-out-for-xbla-directors-cut-dlc-available/ Now this makes me wondering if SEGA will be offering some rare, only by using passport disc online or whatever, Shenmue toy capsules as exclusive DLC for a few more bucks..
What a let down. If only they fixed the camera at least. I may as well play the Japanese international version with good Japanese voice acting and English text through VGA. It will probably look just the same as the 360 release. Could even set the 5.1 system up for fake surround. What a let down
What pisses me of most is that they'll make tons of money with it. Lots of blind purchases, old Sonic fans that never had the dreamcast, parents getting a cheap and "safe" game for their kids, ... Maybe Sega should just die and other game companies get their franchises. Sonic and Alex Kidd could be made by Nintendo, Naughty Dog or Insomniac Games. Phantasy Star with Level-5 or Team ICO, Daytona USA and Crazy Taxi with SumoDigital, Sega Rally with Codemasters, After Burner with NAMCO, ...
Nah, Sega are still making great games (just look at the Yakuza series and Afterburner Climax) it's just that they keep fucking up Sonic or doing half arsed ports. Actually, who is actually handling this port? Yakumo
Yakuza is a great game. Afterburner Climax was nicely ported, but again Sega was lazy. Added some extra features to keep people playing and time attack. Don't get me wrong, i'm glad they ported, but they could have added more stuff specially asking 10 bucks for it. Still, where's the creativity we were used to on the 80's / 90's? Ok, most people that worked there, are gone. But they still have AM2 that made lots of fantastic arcade games. I've said this a million times, but there's a reason for it: Where's Daytona USA / Sega Racing Classic for current consoles?! They made tons of money selling arcade cabs, made arcade operators very happy... But apart from Japan and some other countries, arcades aren't what they used to be (shame really, but that's another story). Why not porting their most famous games for online play on current consoles, and actually get some money without much trouble? Not gonna throw away 10 bucks for a shitty product. There's way better stuff on XBLA and PSN.
I think most of us already played one of the previous incarnations and now we're all just hanging around watching the trainwreck again. I'm sure the people who liked SA before will like it just as much this time.
