I think that's pushing it. I'll agree that it's all speculation at this point (either side of the argument) but saying a port would be easier or more likely is just not true -- especially if they're considering doing a lot more titles from the same architecture with no upgrades. Crazy Taxy have 16:9 and upgraded textures obviously points to port... at least for that title.
And sonic looks to match the DX version (which does not exist on the DC). If they where 1:1 of the DC versions I'd be far more incline to jump on the emu bandwagon but for this batch they look more to be ports then emulated. Hell if you ask me, I'd be in heaven if they where simply the DC versions on an emu. It would mean more games sooner then later.
Yeah, but they'd be the same games... most of which are dirt cheap! Sonic Adventure is the one that could use an update. Even 480p but w/o the frame issues would be an up tick. Oh, well.
I think they said that is one of the things changed in the SA version. The framerate is better. I personaly would love access to digital PS2, DC & Saturn games because they're getting to the point where it's not as easy to find certain games unless you go the ebay route or fork out more $$$ then what they're worth. As well if it's done via Sony, I feel more safe in knowing there is a good chance they will all transfer up to PS4/PSP2 (as sony as a whole is trying to move PSN into a platform of it's own and extending stuff like ps1 & movies to other devices).
I can only think of a handful of games for those systems that are truly a pain in the ass to find. Yeah, some are expensive, but I buy so few games these days when I actually get around to them the price isn't the issue, but quality of the port is.
LAWL. I WIN BITCHES http://www.andriasang.com/e/blog/2010/06/30/sega_saturn_downloads/ The use of the term "port" here is intentional, as according to Okunari, the games are not running through emulation. One reason for this is due to technical hurdles with emulating Dreamcast, issues that arise in part because of peculiarities with the system's PowerVR2 GPU. Beyond this, the staff wanted to make adjustments to the games, and decided that porting over the source code would be the best bet. No current in-development releases are running under emulation, said Okunari. Straight from the horses ass, err I mean mouth. On a side note, Okunari says there are more games in the works (nice for more official confirmation) and that the ports are being done by Sega Shangai which to me it better since if they were backbone ports I would rather cut my self then play them.
So they are porting from the source. That's good i guess, since they can optimize the code (i doubt they will, but you got my point). Anyway, why there's no 16:9 support for Sonic Adventure?
I read somewhere that they had problems getting the games code to play nice with 16:9. It's a POS basically, lol.
Did they had real problems or just wanted a cheap / rushed port? I mean, if they have the source code they should be able to make improvements to it.
I would bet on that. Sega wants to mantain the tradition of rushing the release of this game for commercial reasons as they did back in 1998 when SA first debuted on Japan full of bugs.
It depends. They are fixing both games to run at 60fps and crazy taxi was able to run 16:9 but much of that might have been from changes for the PSP version. It's possible 16:9 introduced ugly glitches or camera clipping and they just didn't feel it was worth going in a fixing the levels for it.
According to various news sites, once Sega has reissued a few more Dreamcast titles for XBLA and PSN it might look into doing the same for a select number of Saturn-era classics next... though I certainly won't be holding my breath for Panzer Dragoon Saga or Dragon Force, as it's likely they'll probably stick with games that were ported to the PC such as Sonic R, Virtua Fighter 2 or maybe Last Bronx at a push. However, the likes of this (providing it's true in the first place, of course!) equating to possible "new" versions of Daytona USA or any other title requiring major licensing agreements to be sorted first is highly unlikely. After all, when did Sega last bother putting any remote effort into any of its products?
Sega should port SegaRacingClassic instead of any other Daytona USA version. SegaRacingClassic already runs on HD (720p), since it's running on the RingWide "board". Add online 8 players multiplayer support and let people load their own music (since it wouldn't have the original soundtrack) and that's it! Just get the arcade mp3's on the internet and you have arcade perfection at home. I bet that it would be the fastest and highest selling game on both XboxLive and PSN.
i will just play the games on my dreamcast it not the same like crazy taxi without pizza hut and sonic adventure just crap 4.3 is a load of crap my dreamcast sonic adventure play 16.9 like sonic gems they used usa muisc for sonic cd not the pal uk music so i will just keep to the old consoles
No, it doesn't. You're just stretching the image sideways, most likely. Also, would it kill you to put a few commas or full stops in there? Reading your posts is like looking at white noise.
If they are true ports, they have no excuse for not fixing really, really shitty issues... and really no excuse for no upgrade in graphics. They aren't pixels that have to be redrawn. Quit being fucking lazy, Sega.
