It's my mind, or the music is mixed in 5.1?
I can clearly hear the front separation (L, C, R), and a bit of surround music too.

Sonic CD originally was mixed with Q-Sound so it wouldn't surprise me if they didn't take that a bit further.

Talking about Q-sound, how it works?
Need any special hardware to listen to?

Q-sound is just stereo that's been 3D spaced to sound wider. Many Saturn games are in Q-Sound so you don't need special hardware to hear it. Of course a TV or stereo with a good range is a must. Q-Sound has also been used in audio CDs although only a few (about 50 odd) were made.

As for Sonic CD, well it is in 5.1 but more like a mix rather than a true 5.1 experience. I play all games in 5.1 since all my consoles are connected to my amp. The original Sonic CD does sound flatter than this new version.

No it's just a clever way of manipulating Stereo Audio. Kinda like EAX and 3D effect speakers.

Dude WTF? thats it? "rebuild"? its just same old SCD, no HD sprites or anything

Whats the difference with playing it using emus?

Scratch that, it looks less pixelated and more smooth on Gens using filters.

And tails? whoopity-fucking-doo! thats one of the reasons new sonic games suck...

You're a right miserable sod. All you do is complain about stuff. It's a whole new build.

    No Slowdown
Crisp filter that looks good on a HD TV (not like a EMU at all)
Re-mastered audio in 5.1 plus remade with an all new connecting loop so that music doesn't fade out and restart like it did on the old versions.
New graphical effects in stages not present in the originals
    True 16.9 image
    Full Screen video.
Dual soundtracks for those who like the US music while keeping the rest of us happy with the JPN/Euro soundtrack.

This is much more than a emulated bit of software. We don't want all new graphics, we want Sonic CD the way it was but looking nice on a HD screen and this is what we have been given.

And it's ONLY 400 points on the 360. How can you complain about that price? It's a give-a-way at that price!

It's great to see Sonic CD released in this way, it'll be a whole new game for lots of people who didn't even hear about it or don't know how to get a Sega CD emu running.

BTW, was anyone able to try the Android version? I'm getting a Sony Ericsson Xperia NEO this monday and I'd love to get it, but I'd like to know before if it's comfortable enough to play it with touch controls...

The looping is different from ingame to the sound track that was released.

I think the point Yakumo was making here is that the crisp pixel option is still a fair rarity on consoles when it comes to "retro" games. A lot of games still force the blur on you (I'm looking at you Mega Man 10).

They re-released it in a Sonic Compilation last gen, and they were approached by someone else with this one (as you mentioned). I kinda doubt two releases reveals a trend. What other upgrade could they even do? Aside from cherry picking JPN/US audio tracks per level, this release has pretty much everything one could want.

Anyway, I'm loving this release, and even though Sonic CD is my least favorite of the original Sonics (blasphemy, I know) I bought this one instantly due to the care taken with it (and lack of load times helps). Maybe I'll have a good future this time!
