In Sega's defense it's really all they can do now. Just sonic gems and it was a half assed port Anyways I downloaded this figured I may as well. I'm enjoying it.
Gems Collection was so terrible even by current Sega standards. Everyone who bought it should get an apology letter.
Man, I'd completely forgotten that the Japanese version had the Streets of Rage games on it, another reason for Sega to apologize for the Western release, I guess. Still, as far as Sonic games go...one good one (which was a lazy port), two godawful ones, and a handful of Game Gear games that had already been released on other games/compilation. Bleh.
I've never played Sonic CD, and I really want to play it on the real console first. Too bad the SEGA CD is rare/expensive! I'd still get this though, it looks really nice.
I own the actual mega cd version of the game and while its great to have this version exceeds it in alot of ways and corrects issues of slowdown and graphical glitches. Btw I am thinking of doing the xbla version as my next review, anyone think it would be a good idea?
Which version of Gems Japanese PS2 or Japanese Gamecube? Side note is it just me or are the special stages in Sonic CD harder than they appear to be?
It was the game gube version. I got it the day it came it came out from play asia I believe. Now I see the japanese game cube version being sold only with buy it now at inflated prices. And quite honestly it seems easier to find a japanese ps2 version that is a game cube version.
has anyone noticed how you need to cover a much greater distance to travel in time? I have the IOS version and it's fun, i do prefer hardware buttons though.
Ugh, I got up to the race against Metal Sonic and had forgotten how much I hate it with all the hazards you can't see until you're right on top of them, plus Metal Sonic being a cheating bastard. Hmm...I wonder if someone at Dimps played this level and thought "Unavoidable hazards? Spikes out of nowhere? We gotta make Sonic games where every level is like this!"
The metal sonic level is a pain in the arse at first but once you have an idea of the layout it's not so bad. You are right about Mega Sonic being a cheating bastard though. By the way, has anyone completed the Time Atack in under 25 minutes? I'm up to 27:36. Yakumo
OK chill the fuck up for a second, you know I have a point here. So what I should cut them some slack because its fan made? SFR was ENTIRELY fan made and it was a billion times better than this POS Would I pay for a full version of SFR? of course! Would I pay for a poorly excuse for a re-release that looks worse than the same game running on a emulator in a Xbox in 2004 did? FUCK-NO! You see is because bullshit like this sells that Sega keeps making it. Write this down so you dont forget it: Sega is dead, what you have is a pachinko conglomerate rehashing stuff, they own this shit and they plan to squish every cent off it. If you want them to do at least decent stuff stop buying this shit so they are forced to do actual new games And no Platinum Games doesn't counts... Yeah, in Jam it was because of lack of space in the disc (Saturn couldnt handle compressed audio IIRC) but with the others I think the idiots left at Sega couldnt build a decent proprietary emulator.
It seems the same or shorter to me, but it might have to do with the widescreen conversion. Then again I am playing in on 360. How is the iphone version? Even though I have it for 360 already $2 for an iphone version is a steal.
