Yes. You have to use the swap method to boot it. You can view a guide here. From what I've read, it's going to be a lot harder to use this method if you have a model 2 Saturn (round power / reset buttons).
Saturn disc swaps are really easy. If a guide says to watch the access lights DON'T DO IT ! Some games load in a different manner. The way to disc swap any game on any Saturn is like this (I've been doing it for over 10 years) 1. - Place CDR in to the Saturn and switch it on. The disc will spin at x2 speed. Once it slows down take it out and replace with any original Saturn game apart from Virtua Fighter (Japanese version won't boot games for some reason). 2. - The original disc will now start to spin at x2 speed. Next it will slow down to x1 speed. A second or two later it will speed up again to x2 speed. 3. - Now as soon as the original disc goes in to x2 speed, take it out and put the CDR back in. The game will boot just fine. This method works on all Saturns. NOTES - The original disc must be the same region as your Saturn console. Some games will change the drive speeds pretty quickly so you need to watch out for this. Normally it's the games without much data on the discs. For the disc swap to work you must have the Saturn door switch (Inside the hardware just behind the door on the top right side) taped down so that the Saturn thinks that the door is always closed. Also, I found that it helps if you give the disc a slight spin to get it going / back up to speed. Just make sure you're spinning in the right direction.
mmm tomorrow i shall try this on my saturn... my pc doesn't run fine at all with the emulator. the covers are really cool! now let's dream with the next saturn holy grail! :020:
Why did someone stick a virus/trojan in one of the torrents though? That makes no sense to me. I just noticed you can jump into the blue things and jump higher....kinda cool.
Just wanted to say thank you for the release, and I successfully swap booted it on my US Model 2. Deep down inside the child left in me is finally happy to at least get a real glimpse of the game he wanted so badly years ago. ;-)
Because the person who put a virus in it, is a fuckface. And it was the leaked version who had that virus in it. Not the "released" version from ASSEMbler.
Finally played it on my saturn. Really good kick ass at 60 fpm!!!!!! Something inside of me from many years waiting already exploded, but well, this is a tech demo...the playabable E3 thing would have been nuclear
Well now that this is out there, it won't be so explosive to drop the other versions onto the net. We're sort of clearing the way by enduring all the problems related to this title.
Assembler i think that this release will make more soft the way for the other versions to come to the net... but you know that a LOT of people know how expensive this have been...and maybe want to take profit....being careful is the best. I must tell you that you can count with me for donation on the next assault. I was not into saturn-beta related things way back.
that's what we all hope, but that would be a really hard one, but patience, SUPPORT and dedication to the cause would be enough i think, ah, and a big amount of luck. If we want that thing in our hands we should unite and cooperate.. 0% trolling ... but i think that in a future we will have good things.
Anything is possible these days... Sonic 2 Beta being salvaged from a rewritable cartridge, the Sonic 2 alpha build from Nick Arcade, Sonic Xtreme being stolen out of a car... it could happen, you never know.
